  5. E Bay, that is! C'mon guys, I've had this '84 Royale lying around my garage in pieces for...holy crap!...five years now! I need to get rid of this stuff! Everything listed in My Ads is still here. I would so much rather have one of you get this stuff than to pawn it on eBay...people I don't know.....but it's coming down to that or the junk man. Most of the body work is either gone or trashed. I pitched the windshield in the trash can last night because even though it's whole, it has scratches and the film is peeling off. The rest of this thing will follow suit quickly. I want it gone by Christmas. Here's the big stuff of value; Frame Forks and triple trees with anti-dive valves front and rear wheels (bare) complete rear brake system engine parts-cases, crank balancer, pistons, rods, tranny, oil pump, clutch, heads/cams, etc. fuel tank w/pump plus lots more! Make me an offer.....let's get 'r done!

    My most sincere condolences, Rod. I lost my Dad 20 years ago (God, has it been that long?) and still think about him most every day. You're in my thoughts and prayers, but you're right...he's in the better place!
  7. Truth of the matter, sadly, is this..... Required or not, there are people who will, by choice or by necessity, drive uninsured. Most of the insured drivers are covered for medical only. And state minimums, at that.... Many of the people who drive uninsured are driving without a license, or on a suspended license. Most of these folks, if not jailed, will be driving again as soon as they are released. Mandatory insurance does little or nothing to alter this fact, except to give insurance companies unfair leverage and the ability to price gouge....they're all in concensus with rates. Competition has very little to do with it. Consider this scenario; Three years after I'd bought my Buell Cyclone, my insurance carrier sent me a renewal notice. My premium had DOUBLED!!!! I was outraged. I called my agent, who referred me to national HQ. I got a hold of a poor soul and proceeded to ream her a new one. She was almost in tears, and apologetic, but the only answer I got was, no, it was not my driving record. No tickets, nothing. Safe driver citation and all. No, the reason they doubled the rates was that some doofus at national, upon reviewing the specs for an M2 Cyclone, arbitrarily decided to reclassify it from Sport/Touring to Sport Bike. Hence the rate hike....across the board! What a bunch of utter bull****! I told her so. She passed me on to her manager, who I told in no uncertain terms to go pound sand, I'd take my biz elsewhere. I signed with another company that year, which pulled the same tactic the following year on renewal. Insurance is nothing more than a high stakes poker game for insurance companies. Your personal performance has NOTHING to do with your rate.....unless it is NEGATIVE performance. Then, they're all over you with rate hikes, cancellation threats, etc. Incidentally, I agree completely that nobody should be riding OR driving without insurance. But call it for what it is; price it based on national averages, but reward safe and mature riders with steep performance based discounts instead of punishing the sons and daughters for the sins of the fathers. Man, that felt good!

  9. As previously mentioned.......no need to apologize! You've done more for this site than all the rest of us put together. Get well, get rested, and turn on the cruise control for a while.
  10. Of course, I ride sport bikes, so you may take this with a grain of salt... I would plug in a "limp-home" situation. Then I would change the tire. Remember, we are comparing apples to oranges here. Plugs were developed for automotive radial tires....tires that don't have the types of side loads and "flexsion" that motorcycles are subject to. Typical automotive tire "contact patches" are about six inches square...all four of 'em...and while the fronts are subject to twisting forces on hard cornering, they share the load and don't come anywhere near the torsional loads put on a motocyle tire rolling into a tight corner, not to mention that the contact patch on such a tire is roughly the size of a postage stamp. (Now before you jump all over me, bear in mind I'm NOT referring to NASCAR-type situations, but rather, Grandma's Ford Windstar.) When you insert a plug in a multi steel-belted radial tire, the plug is subject to mainly compression and extension forces, and with the wires from the belts, the rubber cement and no rock n' roll going in, it's safe to assume that if a plug works, you're good to go. If not, well, there's always the spare. The few times I've ridden on low motorcycle tires have been horrendous. The handling was attrocious and found me searching for the nearest air hose. Now it's a pre-ride must-do. With a passenger and luggage on a touring bike....no thanks! Remember, there's no spare. You don't have a bumper jack. A plug can work it's way out much easier on a motorcycle tire. Youe life can depend on a contact patch the size of a Rice Chex. A new tire, mounted and installed shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred bucks. That being said, if you still feel like plugging, knock yourself out!

  12. Whew......! StarShip Enterprise was able to just avoid hitting an errant asteroid due to the weight we just jettisoned by ditching last week's special.....the airbox. Somebody got a screamin' deal for two bucks. Since that went so well, I'm now offering the battery box and cover for only $5.00 plus shipping. Mr. Sulu will be so pleased. We may make warp speed yet.........
