I got more or less the same problem. A carb sync would be in order first in order to make sure the carbs are at least close. If you don't have a carb sync, what I would do is to pull the air box, then visually turn the idle screw until #2 is just fully closed, then do # 1 with the sync screw, then # 4 then# 3. Now turn the idle screw back in some and then fire it up. That's about as close as you will get it without a measuring tool. I know the numbers don't seem to go the right way, but it should work, I'm thinking. Others may call me wrong, but it's what I would try.

I would say that my shop is well equpped and can probably handle such a situation, I'm not sure about the guy who owns it though, it's a new one for me and it's a second gen, but then a little reading (I read mostly pictures) might help out a big deal. Either way, if you can wait til the 24th, there'll be lots of help here and the shop is open, if not, scoot up sometime, I know very well how to use the large hammer and big screwdriver. lol:thumbsup2:

Got you all covered, with prayer and thoughts. Enjoy the fact that it was not worse and that you'll ride again.

Keep us posted, He'll not give you more than you can bear, in the meantime we'll lay it down before Him. Carl

What is this plug??

I know meat turns green if you leave it too long, take a chew on it Brad, and find out. -
You probably put new pads on didn't you. The thing I always do is to champher the leading edge of the pad with a file. This normally stops all singing. About 45 degrees should do it and just enough to say that the sharp edge is gone.

Nahh Bev was not to part with any cash lol, anyways we were closed at 4 and they didn't show up until after, that's when I become friend only and forget about selling and the business. Glad you enjoyed the meat meet, and if you want more, we close at 4 on Saturdays, and doesn't mean you can't get any, but it won't be suggested to you and you won't be reminded as to why you came. Glad you all showed up, makes for a great day: good weather, good friends, good food, good meatmeet, who could ask for more.

You'll not get all the roots, so it will come back, weed killers will only get some of it, temporarily, so now that you have it, you are stuck with it, I've tried everything for 20 years years now and still have patches where there is no grass. Best solution: grow grass, lots of grass, and it will out grow this pain in the butt and keep it down, but when you have a bare patch, it fills in real quick and keeps things green.

IMO you will not get a good bass response anyways, the speakers are too far away from you ears, so that the ear channel cannot produce the low end. The backing for the speakers is the helmet, and is too flimsey for any acoustic drive to be available from that end. If you want, you can improve things somewhat by putting a filler behind the speakers to move them closer to your ear, but that might be somewhat uncomfortable for your ears if they push your ears back.

I as sit here thinking about what to impart to you, a thought came to my mind: Now this is not necessarily a real good thought and often I speak my mind before I think it through, but it's still has a good ring to it, so I'm going to share it with you. The first part will be the hard part, but hopefully the last part will be helpful. If Leslie were still here with us, but instead of being healthy and ready to go with you all the time she was bedridden and unable to help out. Knowing the person that she was, what would she say to you on such a beautiful day????? She would have told you to leave her alone, and go out and enjoy, work on your bike, clean it up, and take the day and go for a ride. Well she's not here, so she can't tell you that, maybe that's why I had to think of it. She's not bedridden and sick anymore. She's beyond that, but her memory is here, and I bet you can also hear her speak at times. Her words would be: I know you loved me as I loved you, and I don't want you to forget me, because what we had was awesome, but because I loved you I want you to continue on with life and live it to the fullest. Because you loved me so much, you will miss me, enjoy the memories, look back on them fondly, but a new part of life lies ahead of you, enjoy that as well. Don't be feeling bad about the fact that I can't join you and be there with you, it will be different, the past cannot be undone, but the future will be shaped by how you live today. Don't worry about the day of tomorrow, for today has enough worries of it's own (Jesus) Carl

We have a WADDLE
Marcarl replied to Marcarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well finally got my solo ride in last night at 10:30. Ran out to get gas, shock pressure on low, tire at 42, tire rebalanced with only 25 gr of weight, not 80. On the way out not a good thing at all, got up to 120 and had to bring it down to stay calm. Filled up with gas, pushed shock to med. and rode home, at 120 I was ready to jump off, but held on and slowed 'er down to 90 before things were back to normal. Next visit is to the tire dealer\mechanic to have his input. Have Avons for the last two years and had no issues so I'm not blaming the manufacturer, maybe it's just a bad tire, maybe something else. The investigation continues. -
Played with it all day yesterday, off and on and then when I was done playing with the cables it idled. OHHH right, but when I turned the idle screw down, nothing changed, so I got it to idle, but something is still wrong. So we went out for supper last night, carb cleaner in the tank, wifey on the back, all the way to Cambridge, about 40 minutes, and all was well. On our way home it decided to start this fool game again and idle at 1500. Now when I crank hard on the throttle, in the reverse direction of speed, I can bring it down somewhat. I think a deeper investigation into cables and such will be in order. For now I'll ride and all you folks stay out of my way, you are forwarned!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll let you know what the outcome is, probably something little and easy, and possibly even a little dumb. Who knows? IN the meantime I'm open to more ideas. Got lots of things to check out, enough to keep me from riding all summer, as though that will happen,,,,,,

Some folks just don't have any couth, but, Hey, he left himself open so take advantage.
-
Took it out last year, and sent it on it's way. Now have the vaccum hoses \ports: #1 to #4 and #3 to #2.
-
They are that, seated well, everything looks good. Thing is, sometimes it idles well and other times it just won't come down. Take the plug off and there is very little change on #1, put the carb sync on and I pull 14 in. vaccum?????????????????
-
Never touched them, so they should be good enough. I think.
-
So now that everything is back together, well almost, I have a nagging problem. Had the motor out for second gear, cleaned the carbs but did not break them down, just took out the diaphrams, used carb cleaner all over and through out, installed new diaphrams and all seemed to be good. Balanced the carbs last week and now I can't get the idle below 1500. All carbs are balanced but I have a problem with #1. When I take the plug off of the vaccum port there is very little change in the engine. Not so with the others. When I took off #3 the engine almost died, #4 and #2 there is some change as would be expected but not enough to worry if the engine will die. I replaced the lower throttle cables but they are all slack, the idle speed screw is backed right out, I checked the chokes and they are all pushed in. Sometimes though, the idle will come right down and momentarily behave as it should, but mostly not and I cannot controll it. I need more ideas,,,,,,,

Any BEER I mean ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,well how about some coffee instead, it's a nice ride if you don't mind Buffalo, so you just never know, some Sunday Afternoon, good weather, where's supper today?

We have a WADDLE
Marcarl replied to Marcarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I know, you are all worried that I passed out or something. Well today didn't pan out as planned and my afternnon spin came in the form of a delivery truck, bringing meat to our market, had too much for the scoot to carry. So it was this evening when my beloved and I decided to relive old times and take a little jaunt on the scoot to visit a restuarant that serves some of the finest. During the entire time on the road, never did I get so much as a hint of a waddle, but then we were fully loaded and held to a cool 90 kph \ 56 mph. Oh well, I'll wait til the morning and report back. -

I might be reading a little between the lines here, but just to keep things clear, I have no problems with Avon, used them for the last two years and had no issues at all, I loved them, and I don't think it's the tire this time.
