So what happens if you turn it on and then cover the mic(s) with you hand, completely inclosed? There should be no noise at all, if there is then something is generating that noise, and that needs to be eliminated. Other than that you are trying to fix an issue that shouldn't be there in the first place.

There are two ways to measure, one is length, the other is depth. Maybe Don measured the wrong way??????????????? You never know, he is originally from the south somewhere and now has to deal with stuff he wasn't brought up with. Now about packing it down????? Works great. I used to do it all the time, you just got to make sure that the whole drive gets packed, not just the tracks. When it thawes, it all seems to run away, just like as if it had never been there.

Have you got your CB turned on? If so, is the squelch turned down? I'm just reading a little between the lines here, but it seems that would be a likely area for the noise to come from, if nothing is running or making noise. The noise from the CB does not come from your mics, but from the CB receiver, so the squelch needs to be turned down. Just a thought.

Well good for you olde buddy, glad to see that you're not staying with the past but are determined to move on, hey, the past will always be with you, and that can be good and bad, but the future is what you make of it. Looking forward to joining you on a ride already, don't know about this white stuff though, can't see a 'hole lot right now.

My wife and I went out last year to find new lids. Went to four local dealers and tried on HJCs, mediums. Must of had about 15 different ones on my head at one point, until I finally found one that fit, and then so did she. All told we probably tried on 10 - 15 different HJC mediums, all the same model and only one fit right. What I'm saying is, just because the first one don't fit right, try another and then another. And I wouldn't buy one on line for that reason, unless you have a good ballpeen.

I Need A...
Marcarl replied to bongobobny's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I know Bob's problem, and the one for the Impala might suit him better. When you have more to stop, don't you need a bigger cylinder? or it may be cheaper to get a smaller cylinder on the seat??????? -
When you have a leakage between any gasket, but especially the head gasket (due to high pressure from the cylinders) you will have deposits in between the mating surfaces. Torquing may make it better for a little while but will not really solve the problem now created. You need to not only replace the gasket but also check the head for plane to make sure it hasn't warped, even just a little.

And here I always thought that castor refered to oil and chamber was where you did the oil change. Now I'm all confused and have to go look at my scoot before I put it back together, to make sure I got everything lined up right for the castor to get into the chamber right at the back wheel. And now how exactly do you swing your arm in this process? Up and down, forward and backward or just round in a circle. And when you're all done do you really need to bolt, I'm getting a little old you see, or would a fast walk be sufficient.

Sorry to hear about your loss, but hopefully he has gained much. We must always be ready for the GREAT Meet & Greet.

Loosen the 4 bolts that hold the fender on at the forks, adjust the fender where it needs to be, and then while holding it, tighten the bolts. Also check the bolts that hold the fender extention on, don't just look at them but actually tighten them, fender extentions and car tires don't mix well.

Just an Oily Question
Marcarl replied to Marcarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Now what really would pass the test, is if you knew if it runs forwards or backwards, and if it's the same on a first gen as the second gen, or do they run in opposite directions??????? Carl, I'm not sure, as I haven't had the cover off while motors runnin', but I'm sure it's AROUND IN A CIRCLE!!!!:rotf: Sorry Carl, just couldn't help it!! It's raining cats and dogs, tired of this weather, can't finish cleaning motor while it's raining outside (re: Dragonslayers reply to my question in his post on "Getting motor ready for show" I think). GO ahead and get me for this, I deserve it! Seriously, when I take covers off to do my waterpump rebuild whilst I have the rest of the dang thing torn apart, I will do my best to answer this age old question. INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW! Best of luck, Dan- 41 replies

By the last look on his face as he looked back, I'd say he was not done yet for the day, he was going again, so I watched it again, and so what if you posted it again, maybe we'll watch it some more. Thanks

Just an Oily Question
Marcarl replied to Marcarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well here you go, we getting so downright bored we have to ask questions and then answer them ourselves, almost. Rocket, you are right. What had me concerned is that I'm used to seeing a drain hole in the top of the head. There are little dams built all over the place and sure enough, the oil flows back into the cam chain recess. This also keeps the valve lifters flooded with oil, which makes sense I guess. Thanks for the help guys, when I come up with a real difficult one, I'll post some more. In the meantime, which way does the waterpump turn?????????- 41 replies

Yep, put the pumpkin behind something solid and give the shaft a jerk.
-
That's what we do to you if you behave, so now be nice and some Mod will step in to screw it all back inplace I'm sure.:rotf:

So the oil get pumped up to the cams and then drips off onto the heads, but where does it go from there???????? I am quite used to looking at automotive heads and there are drain holes to get the oil back into the pan, but I can't seem to find any on a first gen. The reason I'm asking this, is that when I was doing the tappet adjustment, one side of the head was full of oil, so how come, it just can't keep pumping it up there with no place to drain it away. An inquiring mind needs an answer.
