  1. So... a week ago I went to ride the 89 and by the time I had rolled backwards out of the garage and was ready to leave... bummer.. no clutch. Then saw the puddle by where the kickstand was. Ordered the parts for the clutch slave cylinder. Rebuild it Friday night. Saturday morning... fluid puddle. Guess it is the short hose from the long tubing to the clutch slave cylinder. The problem... i can not locate the part number, or find it on Boats.net/(aka) Powersports. Their microfiche show it a a ghost part under clutch, but I can't find the part to order. I looked in my manual (copy attached) and found the part, but again no description. Any help out there on where to order this hose ? Also, would a hose off of an 84 MKI be the same one as a 89 MKII ?
  2. ive got the dredded oil puddle looks like its coming from around the clutch slave cylinder im thinking it may be the slave cylinder is it hard to replace
  3. This may be obvious to all, but be very careful riding throug a puddle if the water is murky enough that you can't see the bottom! Last weekend we were riding back from the Fl. Keys with 2 other bikes through a monsoon-like rainstorm. We pulled into a gas station in, I think it was Long Key, for a fuel stop and I heard an engine behind me rev up really high...my wife yelled out from behind me "Karen just went down, go see if she's okay!". I carefully parked our 06 Midnight Venture and turned around to see Karen, her husband and a bystander lifting Karen's RSTD up off it's left side. Turns out Karen had ridden into a large puddle filled with water so murky she couldn't see how deep it was. Unbeknownst to her the puddle was over a foot deep and had a VERTICAL 12 inch dropoff. As soon as her front wheel went over the edge there wasn't anything she could do-of course her feet wouldn't reach the ground at that point- so she went over. Fortunately she wasn't badly hurt. Her right wrist was banged up, but after putting a brace on it she was able to complete the remaining 375 miles or so back home. And the engine and saddlebag guards must have done their job because the bike wasn't scratched. But obviously it could have been much worse. Like I said, it seems obvious, and we've probably all done it and never had a problem. But if you can't see the bottom of a muddy puddle...go around if at all possible! Oh and the gas station mgmt was totally unsympathetic. Couldn't even be bothered to go look at the puddle, much less put a cone in front of it. We watched several cars plunge both front wheels into the abyss before we left. Definitely a serious accident waiting to happen! Ride Safe! 1/2crazedbikr
  4. I'am looking at an RD 250. Has 5200 miles on it. I'am looking for an in town puddle jumper. Any thoughts on this bike, he wants $150.00 for it.

  6. Well my 1986 venture has been in the garage on her centre stand most of the winter, start her up once every 2 weeks(approx.) let her warm up to turn on the electric cooling fans sometimes.. However today I was cleaning the garage so she had to move out, and when I put her in first gear and pulled away a small puddle of coolant spilled out from the lower fairing, from the forward motion...Now I checked the overflow tube for the rad and it doesn't seem to drain in that area, hope I am wrong, anyone else have this happen during winter storage...? Garage only hit -10 celcius maybe for 3-5 days, normally at 0 degrees or above...
  7. Local weatherman finally forcasted a good day, that actually turned out right. Normally they are only 40% correct, 60% of the time. After reading the real estate section of the Sunday paper, decided to ride out to a few homes to do some looking. Got a couple of comments about a great day for riding. I do have one question. The bike has been in the storage garage for the last few months on the center stand. I rocked it a few times to get it down onto the wheels. When I backed it out, there was a small (6") puddle of anti-freeze on the floor. I checked the radiator, which was full, as well as pulled all the plastic off and check the hoses, piping, and all of the radiator that I could get to. I could find no leaks. When I fired up the bike and let it idle, I could see nothing was leaking. Any ideas where the puddle came from? ? ? Today is supposed to hit 60, so it sounds like more riding.
