  1. I'll take a set. Not sure what the count is now. Enough? Let me know via PM on how to pay.
  2. I have the one from Ace High Leathers... for 2 yrs. now. First... outstanding build quality. It's the best leather I have ever seen. Fits perfectly, snaps on and off in seconds. I had nanci put red trim on the top so it matched the bike paint. I would suggest you get the left side mount. I did not think about this on our last trip, but getting to the water with the left hand is easier than taking you hand off the throttle and reaching back. Also, passengers find these irritating to the back of their legs and feet. I pull mine off when 2 up. Disclaimer: I do the web site for AceHighLeathers.com as a favor to Nanci. We bought their RSV. She is one talented leather worker. I just designed a mud flap, she built it... it's pretty nice looking. I'll post photos when I get the final version installed.
  3. Wind under the fairing is not a problem. Wished I had more in the Texas this past July. I have removed the clear fairing 'lips' already just to get more air. Granted it is a bit nipper (like yesterday morning) on winter days... but I just turn the heated vest up a setting or two. Thanks for the response. I feared they were put on by Yam to hold the front end down at 90+mph or something like that. Mine will stay off for now.
  4. What is the purpose of these little buggers? accept to keep us buying new brackets all the time? When the second bracket broke this year, I took both off. Front end actually looks better without them... IMHO.
  5. Mine has been on for a year, right side, using Carbon One's bracket. Flawless. I do think the horn is less 'hearable' by cagers on my left side (I've made 2 just about poop their pants on the right side). I think 2 of these, one on each side of the bike, would be better. Right side mounting ideas?
  6. ...and we have new shock! Wow guys... big thanks. Photo proof will be posted. We just don't have gatherings like this in Utah. To bad. My wife and I send big thanks and good vibes to all. We can not beat it back to Salt Lake in a much safer, and more comfortable, mode. Goose.... front end much better with equal pressure in both forks and idle is upped. Tom and wife... big thanks for hosting this and squeezing our problem into your work session. Back on the road....
  7. My wife, who is riding her customized V-Star 650 on this trip, would gladly be there to watch a bunch of fat, beered-up old guys with butt crack showing, work their way out of this one... but the other option is to spend time with the grand kids who are a long way from Salt Lake City. Tuff decision... old butt crack.... cute grand kids... We have a winner.
  8. My GPS says 91 miles to Tom's place from Jourdenton. I'll be on the road about 8'ish am headed north. I think I have a route around the construction shutdown on the 281.
  9. Yes. the part was from Yamaha Suzuki West. Great folks. The one I got was a shock sent to do a warrantee job, accept Yamaha sent 2... to my good fortune now. Sat. Morning will be the fix-it time. To hot to ride Friday afternoon. You folks have whole new meaning to hot here. I live in a desert (Salt Lake City is upper desert and rarely gets above 20% on the old humidity scale. We have swamp coolers instead of AC.) Thanks to all and I'm making a beer run tonight. I'll see how much the saddle bags can hold. I know how much the Bushtek trailer can hold.... as much as I can put air in the suspension. But not a good idea when you have no suspension in the pull vehicle.
  10. Good news!!! FOUND ONE in Fort worth.. Yamaha suzuki West of Fort Worth. Get this... $581 with overnight. Wow. Still spendy but everyone else quotes list of $675 + tax+ s&h. So, I'll have the shock in hand tomorrow afternoon. I feel better now.
  11. I've checked with the west coast, BikeBandit, and 3 dlrs. in San Antonio... no joy and all say 3 to 5 day delivery... which might indicate that the Tx warehouse does not have them as well. The air bag is fine.... and it bouces!!! so the shock itself is not siezed... just out of juice. The only real complication is that I am towing a BushTek trailer. Less toung weight than 2 up, just a control issue maybe. I think I am going check a few more dealers but it does not look promising. I'll pass along what I find in a few minutes.
  12. So many thanks to you guys. Tom did contact me. No shock in San Antonio so I am checking on the West Coast. When I find one, it will be fed-x'd in. I've ridden hard tail... mucho younger then. 1958 Triumph 650, 10" over forks, chrome frame, the whole 70's thing. Maye that' why the kindneys complain now? And a huge thanks to Freebird for getting me back on the list to make this happen. "2 cases of beer".... make it a micro brew and I'm all over that. Should have brought more home brew. Never know when you will need it.
  13. I have had lots of folks pull out in front of us from side streets or doing a lane change without looking (tuff to look while you are texting I hear). We put in a head light modulator in both bikes. Not one, zero, nada, zip people have pulled out in front of us. They do the 'give it a look (rolling stop) then start to move out in our path... then hit the breaks and stop hard.' Some are pissed 'cause we are not cops or emergency veh. Let them be pissed. All I are about is not becoming part of the paint on their cage. The funny thing that happened rather frequently while on our last 28 day, 5000 mile road trip... people would roll down their window and say "Hay, did ya know your headlight is flashing on and off?" Yep! thanks, glad you spotted that.
  14. Is it possible to put the RSV trunk and seat on a Tour Delux? Seems that all the right bolt holes are there in the side fender rails. Not sure about the seat and rear fender. I have a friend who's passenger want's a bit more comfort.
  15. OK... my tool kit has be augmented from stock I think. First time I have opened it and I'm the 3rd owner: 1- pliers (crappy quality) 2 - open end wrenches (10-12, 14-17mm) 1- spark plug wrench/tube 1- weird semi flattened metal tube... what the hell is that for? I bet there is a piece of metal stock that should go into it and make a wrench handle for the weird spark plug socket thing. 1- screwdriver with a shaft that has flat on one end and phillips on the other. 3- allen wrenches... 5mm, 6mm, 8mm 1- tire gauge I also carry a short adjustable wrench, and an allen wrench to fit the fairing bolts, wire cutters, short roll of electrical tape, 18" or so of electrical wire. Looking at this kit, I'm going to replace the stock tools with good ones. Most likely a waist of money but I hate dealing with crappy factory motorcycle tools. Kinda like the batteries that came in your TV remote from the factory... lasts about a month then your pissed when they die at midnight and you don't have any of those AAA buggers around the house.
