  1. Currently riding a 2006 GL1800HPA (audio, comfort & nav). The bike is dark red and has quite a few options. I am strongly considering a trike and the missus like our 2002 RSV better than the current Wing so I am looking for a Hannigan conversion of an RSV. I would be happy to work a trade for someone looking to go to two wheels for a trike. If you know where a trike is or have an idea of where I could buy one, drop me a PM. I am NOT interested in a NEW conversion due to the Hannigan pricetag. I just missed a good deal listed on this site in the classifieds. Drop me a PM. Thanks - wiredgeorge PS: Some of you may know me as I was a Venturer way back before this site came into existance. I was Venturer 147 and the chaplain for about 2 years. I owned Millennium Edition #13.
  2. Some pages want to load up in a foreign language (Catlin) Google then asks me if I would like it translated to english. There is a drop down list of languages...but english is greyed out. How can I make english the default language?
  3. was riding, lost turn signals. sudden drop in voltage, limped home. now it want start. help!! i heard about some relay......is this it? where is it? whats the part number? who has one??

  6. Ever wonder how much would be gone if a nuke fell on a city or town? Or just having a bad day and wanna nuke something? Here is a website that allows you to select the nuke you like and drop it whereever you pick in google maps. It isnt violent but it can sure make you realize how much damage can be done by a warhead. http://www.carloslabs.com/node/20
  7. First of all I apologize to Wally, and Tony for this triple post. Please delete it if it is a duplicate. I am in the process of parting my faring. I have it all dismantled except I can't figure out how to remove or if I have to remove the Passing Lamp mounting bracket that fastens using the two hex bolts. I don't even know what size they are and I don't know how to reach them because of the angle they are at. Is it necessary to remove these in order to drop the passing lamps down enough to remove the front faring piece? I'm stuck at this point and not sure how to proceed. If you have any comments or suggestions I would appreciate it. Thank you Chris in Red Deer, Alberta.
  8. well after many miles of riding and figuring i have come to the following conclusions about the new sound. i have noticed a drop off in my fuel mileage. about 15 miles on a tank of gas. its not to b aD,considering what the cost of gas is. any further info will be posted thanks well has anyone eles found a drop in fuel milege after changing there stock pipes? is there any thing to do about it? let us know about it
  9. Ride a 2007 RSTD. Want to replace the front floorboards with pegs; the purpose is so my heels can drop which will lessen the pinch/strain in my hips. I've been looking and asking, with no success. My current option is to cut off the back of the front floorboards. That will get me the drop I want. It would be nice if there were a different solution. Any suggestions? And no, not new 'forward controls'. Way too expensive, and won't solve the issue. Thanks.
  10. Prayers needed for my Cousin, if ya`ll could spare a few. He was riding dirt bikes with his sons and went off ( what he thought ) was a four foot drop that turned into a 30+ foot drop, he has had 4 surgeries so far, is in a drug induced comma, luckly he can move both arms and one leg, the other has bad nerve damage. This happened last Sat. and he is still in ICU in Las Vegas Med center. Thank you very much! Kreg

Just sitting here watching the thermometer drop and wondering....... HOW and WHY!!!
  12. was checking over my bike and noticed a drop of coolant on top of the rubber boot of clutch bleeder ... took off the fin (it seems tight before removing) and saw a drop of coolant at the rubber washer. the bike is an 07 RSTD, i have put on 21k miles. can i silicone a small washer on the tab on the inside of fin to place additional pressure on the rubber washer or should i replace the washer - if so do you lose enough coolant to warrant refilling the radiator?
  13. While poking around on the web this morning I ran acrossed this Hotel in France. http://www.bikershotel.it/citta/Chalais/1/ Must be a distant 'Chalais' cousin.... I'll have to drop in and say Hi the next time I'm in town....
  14. Hello I am back, on my 88vr I am still having idleing problem when you first start it and when it reaches operating temp. It will idle for a second and then the tack will drop to 0 the engine will still idle but it very low and it will start backfireing thru the tail pipe. when you throttle up it will pop a little and then smooth out when you let go of the throttle it will drop back to 1000 rpm for a second and then drop to 0 and start backfiring. Squeese told me to check for vac. leak around base of carb. I checked this with brake cleaner srayed around each one but it seemed ok no rev. The hoses from the top of the carbs into the air box two of them are a little loose where they go into the box should I seal them will they cause any problem? running down the highway it runs fine. I checked the diaphrams in all 4 carbs no holes they looked new. I have only had the bike for 3 weeks when I first got it, it idled fine iI ran sea foam thru it when I first got it. when I pulled the cover to check the diph. it looked like ther was some oil on the diphrams. I think theres to much oil in it on the sight glass it is all the way to the top is it suppose to be that full? Its been about20 years since i have had A bike I have to learn how to work on them agine. can anyone tell me where I can order a service Manual for this bike. I will be asking a lot of question on here I hope you all dont get tired of me. thanks alot motorhead 704
  15. Hi folks! I recently (one year ago) added driving lamps to my 85 VR and I have had issues with the driving lamps taking alot of power to run. So much in fact, that when I'm running at approx 3500 - 4000 rpm the charging system can hold it fine but if I drop into city driving speeds, the draw becomes troublesome. After some city driving with the lamps on, my radio will drop in volume in relation to my turn signal. Blink on, lower volume, blink off, higher volume. (kind of funny now that I'm typing this). I have the positive running direct to the battery and my question is "Is there a better way to do this so the draw isn't quite so high?" The lamps 2 x 35w halogen. Stator is new in 2006. Any suggestions will be happily considered. Thomas
  16. Yeah...I did my first oil change and used the Rotella T6 synthetic oil...but I accidently (actually my buddy finished the jug off when I wasn't looking) OVERFILLED the oil. When I use the sight glass (on the level)...all I can see is a bubble at the top...so I know it's overfilled. Now...I am wondering the easiest way to drop some oil out...the oil filter, the plug...or even through the fill hole (Yeah, I know...I doubt that too). Any suggestions. Wally
  17. A package is headed yer way.....arrival will be on Tues or Wed of next week (8-9 June). Boomer.....who sez don't drop it on yer foot or you'll be dancing like the drunken pygmies.
  18. The adventure on the Venture continues http://www.photoshow.com/watch/RC3Wh3SG Lost my $200 camera, I gave it to bear to hold and for some reason he drop it off the bike at 65 MPH. Never found it! glad I had a back up!
  19. When I pull in clutch on my new to me 86 it wants to rev and then drop back down. It will go up about 1k quickly and then drop back down but not as fast as it should. Hasn't been wanting to idle. Have to choke it to keep it running most of the time. Thought I just had some crud in it. Don't think this is related to reving. Sea-foam and it will idle now most of the time when it is warmed up. Sound like vacum leak? I couldn't find one but didn't spend lot of time looking was busy putting back shifter that fell off.
  20. Added a few lights, so thought I would show her off.Led strips under tank, trunk and saddle bags. Driving lights mounted on brake calipers. Tear drop leds on rear bags turn/tail,rear brake light, andbrake light bar on back of trunk.Just can't leave nothing alone.
  21. :173:Anyone see the new trailer for the can-am spyder??? awesome looking piece, tons of volume, cool design and nice suspension, but $3,999 sounds a little hi. if they drop the price about $800 i'll be the first in line. the silver even matches the 2005 liquid silver.
  22. Her is a new one that I can not figure out. I have a 96 GMC K1500 P/U, pretty much loaded with all of the toys. Whenever the engine hits 4000 rpm the alternator shuts off. The voltage drops from the normal 14.2 down to 11.5 and all of the lights dim noticeably and the truck starts to run rough. As soon as the rpm drop back under 4K the voltage comes back, The voltage changes like you threw a switch, it does not come in and out gradually. This voltage drop is being measured on both the dash gauge and a separate digital voltmeter. It does not matter if I am driving or parked, it still does this right around 4K rpm. It has been doing this for a couple of years now. I have since replaced both the alternator and the battery (yes they were bad) but that had no effect on this problem. Any ideas??? As long as I stay under 4k the charging system is fine. Typically the only time I do hit 4K is when I pull out to pass a slowpoke on the highway and the trans downshifts.
  23. I'm confused in the head over horsepower versus torque!! I have wondered about this for years and never got a satisfactory answer. I have read and believe I understand the definition of horsepower and what it means. I also know what torque is, how it's calculated, and what it does. My problem is when I mix these two pieces of info together in my puny little brain I get the idea that horsepower and torque should follow each other. That is..more horsepower should produce more torque. Conversely, if you need more torque, make more horsepower. Just seems reasonable to me. However, if you look at dyno results you see I am all wrong here. Typically HP increases to a certain point then starts to drop off, while torque continues to increase. This makes no sense to me at all. Can someone please explain the real relationship between the two (if any), and where my thinking goes south on me? Lucy!!!!Gu got som' 'splanin' to do!
  24. You may have seen this before, but I think it is worth another go round. Ian just click below and enjoy the show!!! I guarantee you will watch this spell-bound until the last drop of paint is put in place.. Make sure your sound is turned up
  25. Hey you Electrical Engineers- can't I add a diode from radio shack to drop the voltage or regulate pulsing a little in my 2 (55watt) driving lights I added to my ride? The first one only lasted 15-20 hours. i suspect the real culprit was the incesssant shaking...but a small drop in voltage may help!??? I know ohms law but you guys have thought this out better I'm sure.
