  1. No I don't remember the name of the epoxy, but I do remember that I bought it in Shipshewana, Indiana, at the hardware store across the road from the quilting store, right beside the ice cream place. We then went to the town park and fixed it there.... no help in all that is there. We did make sure that it was good for ABS, maybe that will help. They had a number of different brands there, we bought the one that had a 15 minute set time. Other than that what you can do, is to file off some ABS shavings from a drain pipe or something similar, mix it with Acetone, then use this paste to make a strong bridge across the crack. Make sure that everything is as clean as a whistle and no left over glue, before applying and keep the patch thin, no more than a 1\8 inch per layer.
  2. I used a 2 parts epoxy in July when I noticed it was cracked right from side to side, cleaned it with steel wool and electronic cleaner, then applied the epoxy with Wizard765's help. Maybe you need to have Wizard help. Mine is still holding, although I am somewhat surprised, and pleased.
  3. Well if you need any advice, you know where we find it,,,,, so help yourself,,,,,, uhh the worded out different after I wrote it, but it works,,,,, don't it?? Congrats, and hope you do well. Actually you should, I have no worries!
  4. Thanks for trying this out for us, it's always a good thing for someone to do a test run on things, so the rest of us know what to do and what not to do,,,,, now does the pants do the same thing?
  5. Upwind or downwind??????
  6. Wanta bet??????????
  7. Try a bench teat on it before you install it. That way you eliminate some possible issues and it's quicker to take apart to install the parts you thought were of little importance before. When I take brushes out,,, and yours look just fine and serviceable, I clean the armature, where the brushes contact, with spray electronic cleaner, use a 600 or finer sandpaper, clean again, then check for any dirt in between the copper, clean that out carefully, carefully resurface the business end of the brushes, got to keep them flat and level, careful with the file, it's only carbon and disappears instantly. Then I cross my fingers and put it back together, bench test it,,, take it all apart to see how it should be done right, go to the parts fiche, shop manual, call my friends and finally find out how it was done when it was new,,,,,,, so you're well on the way to success.
  8. Would be interesting to know the date on the tire. I would be going for a warranty on that for sure, although it's not the first time I've seen cracks in the Avons. I have a brand new set in my shop, ready to go on when my Dunlops wear out. I was planning and even more so now, to keep a very close eye on their condition when they do go on.
  9. We're with you Gary, it's a tough row to hoe, but we will ask for blessings all the way around. We can't get out from death, dying, sickness and so on, but we can get help to get through it all, all we need to do is ask The Creator. Carl
  10. Same goes for you Trader,,,, let us know what you need, and we'll work it out!
  11. CTV says she was 40,,, so maybe a different person. http://toronto.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20100901/motorbike-401-victim-identified-100901/20100901?hub=Toronto
  12. Over priced is a matter of relativity. If you live 60 miles from a HF then you need to figure travel expenses and then it's a bargain, or at least rightly priced. Take a deep breath, and make an attitude adjustment, and then post that he made a good transaction,,,, which in fact he did. He put it up for sale, you bought it and paid for it, he shipped it according to agreement, and it works. Done deal!
  13. Ya I knew this would happen,,, avoided Ontario on purpose didn't ya. You knew we'd all show up for a Free(bird) meal. Oh well, maybe we're just not good enough yet!
  14. If you wonder if it comes on, go sit at a border crossing on a hot, quiet day, if that doesn't help, wear shorts for the occasion,,,, that'll fix it!!!!
  15. Now as for today being Tuesday, I have a little problem spelling that day so mostly it's just skipped or disregarded altogether, that way I don't get any spelling comments from the half that's better, but just to set your mind at ease I know that today is probably Wednesday, or most likely the day after the day of Monday, which would make it AirShow day in Brantford.
  16. Wow, am I glad you got your answer, I thought this thread was having to go on forever to get it all straight for ya. Did you not notice all the little hints posted here and there?
  17. I AM at work,,,, not easy this new job of mine,,, keep forgetting what comes next,,, so then I need a nap to let my body catch up to my,,,,, darn,,,, forgot that now! Yep, seen some around a time or two, some is big and some are small, but I don't think I'm old at all. Now first thing in the morning I wonder some times when I look next to,,,, I better not say that either,,,,,,, dog house is not built yet.
  18. Is this where the idea of HOT PANTS comes from?
  19. Old is only relevant if you can't remember what you did yesterday. I never have problems on Wednesdays, so today will be a good day!! The other nice thing about 'old' I understand, is that everyday is the 1st day of the rest of your life, so I take that as truth, and so make it my point to rest a lot,, seems to be good for the health,,, at least so they say,, so I who am I to argue.
  20. Ask the neighbors, they probably have lots they can share,,,,, OH, don't ask the gals, ask the guys.
  21. All this serves the same purpose as noise, it impresses the rider.
  22. Now if you had been riding an '85, you would have had time for ice-cream!
  23. Ya next time plan this so we can ALL go along,,,, I mean you need to pick a day when we're not all busy with other things. Glad you all had a good time,,, looks like the roads were awesome, the food was good,,,, but where was the ice-cream???????
  24. You do have an issue,,, could be: An electrical leak, can be determined by taking the positive off the battery and seeing how many amps the bike draws vs what it should draw and then start removing fuses to decide where the problem is. A second bum battery, or maybe it wasn't so new as expected. A not so good charging system yet, maybe some loose connections or a weak stator. I would start with: Charging the battery to full capacity, let it sit for 12 hours and check to make sure the voltage is at least 12.5 volts, anything less and you have a problem in the battery department. If you have a spare power source, you can check for electrical leaks at the same time. You'll need either a charged battery, or a charger, trickle charger will probably do, hooked up to your bike and then you can determine where the draw is going, just by unhooking things as you go along.
  25. Prayers are here for you George, and your family as well. On the flip side,,,,,, how many of wish we could start over again, or could forget the past, now you experience it, so keep us posted as to what's happening,,,, glad to hear you at least still have the knowledge base. Carl
