Just had a purdy young lady come to the door looking for donations to help maintain the swimming pool at our local elementary school...... She said it would help keep the tax levy down. So I gave her a bottle of water.

To all coming tothe Int'l rally and bringing donations, PLEASE PLEASE pm me to let me know what you are bring so we can get a count and idea of what is coming. I need to make sure we have enough table space and tickets. The rally is getting closer and we need to get this all finalized. Being that the ride to St. Jude is coming up this weekend, I guess it wouldn't hurt to let everyone know where we stand on our fundraising efforts. Right now we are a few dollars shy of $3600.00. I know some members are bringing donations that they have collected and hopefully we will collect some more before we head out for the ride from Denny's to go to the hospital. If anyone wants to make a donation its still not to late to make one via paypal (partin_guy@yahoo.com) or even to make one to the Mean Dog Tribute page.This beats all the donations we have made in previous years and we have been doing this since 2005. Thanks to everyone who has helped in this effort. I haven't been around the site much lately. Sold all the bikes and bought my 53 Mercury Monterey 2 Dr. Hardtop. I am quickly discovering that parts are hard to find and when I find them they are either pitted or very expensive. As a result I'm clearing out some of my motorcycle gear to raise funds for my new project! I take donations as well!! If you run them through the church I can make them tax deductible! Just kidding. I love the car and haven't missed the two wheels ------ yet!

While we were in the parking lot at St. Jude Hospital awaiting our tour guides, a gentleman who came with somone from Ala. approached me and issued a challenge. He was with the North Alabama Riders, which used to be a GWRR chapter. They have seperated themselves from GWRR and have formed a seperate group of wing riders. They wanted to know if we would accept the challenge that they could raise more money for St. Jude than Ventureriders. I didnt hesitate one moment and accepted it, because I know that we are up to the challenge, and second part of the challenge is that they would have not only more donations but more riders coming to St. Jude next year.............I have stepped out in faith on both parts and accepted it knowing full well that we are up to it........ So I am hoping some of the folks who will be hosting rallies, meet and eats and anything else they can do, will to step up to the plate and help us out. We have one year to fullfill this challenge and I am already tossing some ideas around for what I can do at Vogel. Know that this year with some help from many members we were able to raise almost $1900.00 and this was a year where we did not have a Tail of the Dragon @ Vogel to boost the tally, so next year I plan on at least doubling the amount that was raised by my effort. Right now Venturerider.org has rasied a grand total of $12,376.00 over 5 years. If you have any ideas for me or want to throw your hat in the ring, please let me know so I can start a list of who is doing what, I want to be able to document and keep a record of who is doing what. I am also hoping that those who organize something will be able to show up at St. Jude next year and deliver their donations in person instead of me or someone else being responsible for all the donations. :mo money:

Most might not recognize me after tomorrow night as I will be donating my pony tail to Wigs For Cancer victims. Been waiting for this for a while and it sort of short notice(only found out last Thurs at work)!Would have liked to have collected some donations also but as I said it was short notice and was not sure about parting with IT (hair) BUT it IS a GREAT cause.So wish me luck?(should be around 14" long)

Just to let everyone know... I am starting to receive payments for the Rally Package and more "Donations" for the 2010 International Rally. Have been putting in 12-14 hour days here for about the past month and spending a lot of road time for work. Right now it looks like my schedule will give me at least one day at home this week end. So, will try and get receipts out to everyone. Russell

any one that would like to donate something for the drawing at the 09 rally is more than welcome to. i have already had several people donate things. for now just think about it and we will come up with an address where you can send it, or just bring it with you to the rally. all donations will be appreciated. want to see every one leave with a prize. the drawing will be at the last dinner and you must be present to win, accept for the trailer. if you have something to donate pm me. thanks in advance. the more we have to give away the more fun. bill

Ok Don is away for a few days, everybody on this site comments on how much they enjoy the chatter and how the site is a positive in their daily lives. How about we say Thanks by filling Dons "inbox" with a bunch of VR Donations, I am sure he would appreciate starting the New Year with the coffers full, and it would be a neat joke to play on him while he is away, imagine his look when he checks his email to find a 1000 donations!! Ok folks,by now I think we have all seen the troubles and time,not to mention his own personal money,Don has put into this site. He never asks for anything in return and I feel it is not in his character to ask.While he works a full time job he has spent the last few days keeping the site up for our pleasure and a few posts have been made on making Donations but they are kind of hidden in other post subjects. Lets all IF YOU CAN try and send even a dollar to help him and Thank Him and Yes,help pay for the new server. I know all of you have met some great people on here and I personally have made some close friendships that I will cherish forever. I have seen a few posts that even the newest of members have sent in donations..That says alot about the site! Some may not be able to send in anything and BELIEVE me,Everyone can understand that and no one would EVER hold that against whoever but those of us that can lets say "THANK YOU DON" for this with a donation that is much needed at this time to keep a great site FREE! To all the members and friends of Mark Still aka Mean Dog for visiting his tribute page and leaving a message about Mark for his family and friends to see and for making donations to St. Jude Childrens's Hospital, hopefully we can make a difference for the kids, for this was very special to Mark.
