One question that might be asked is,,,,, does classified get used a lot, and how does it work for the sellers, do the sellers sell through our classifieds? If it's not used much, maybe we don't really need it. For myself, I rarely go there, but that's only me. The other thing to consider is to only allow members that have been a member say for 3 months or more to be able to use the classified, that way if you want to join just to sell something, you'll give up before you get started.

What I would like to know, is how to downshift on a scoot. You need to increase the RPMs to match the speed of the lower gear,,, so much understood,, but how do you raise the RPMs with the scooter still in gear??? so far I have been unable to find neutral between the gears so that I can accomplish this. Maybe I'm just not smart enough and I need to be enlightened.

Add it to the clutch side, may stop the whine. And OH, just weld it in place.

I live in a funny part of the country I guess. I just park my scoot, lawnmower or what ever when I'm done with, and in the spring I go to start it up and use it again. Normally everything starts and runs just fine, except this spring, the battery on my lawn mower was dead and wouldn't take a charge, so I replaced it with a new one, starts just fine now,,, been about 8 years since I bought that machine, and it was used then. Few years ago I needed my Sears (Roper) tractor to blow the snow off my drive,,, darn the battery was dead and there was no hydro to charge it up,,,, so I did a last ditch thing,,, chucked in 2 aspirins into each cell, waited about 10 minutes and fired it up. I thought,,, well now I'll need a new battery soon,,,, that was 9 years ago, just changed it this year. Last year I put my spare bike battery on a tender, I checked to make sure that the plates were covered and when I checked it in the spring,,,, it was dry and finished. SO I DO NOTHING. Oh well, there are other things strange about me, but that's another story.

1986 Royale Carburation problem?????

Pretty good analysis of what I was thinking! -
That's real good, keep practicing,,, that little run was only about 1\4 of the distance as it is from Oberlin to Cody,,,, only approx. figures mind you, but it is about 4 times as far. Now if you want to travel from coast to coast it might take about 6 times as long,, or maybe longer if you did-a-dadal along. This land is soooo big, Texas even gets lost in it sometimes. Now lets see, where did we leave Rhode Island?

Man do I feel for you,,,,,, don't wish such a thing on anybody,,, Maybe the best thing you can do now is to go and support the man some more,,,, don't really know how you would that, but you two shared something last night, something very traumatic for you and something even more traumatic, horrific, important, life encroaching for him. Something only you two can share,,,,, and our Heavenly Father. Get together and talk to Him about it,,,, it's the best you can do.....IMO Carl

Ya, well, this again,,,,, but if it needs to be then it needs to be,,, maybe we'll do something different. Marcarl's VentureIn is traditionally on Memorial Day weekend,,,,,, 'cause when we started, FreeBird's Maintenance Day was at the end of April, so that made a nice spread between the two,,,, now it's back to back, or, you are suggesting the same day,,,,,, maybe I could incorporate MD into Marcarl's,,, we all leave our place at 1 pm and ride to Oberlin to make sure that everything got repaired as it should be,,,, would make a nice ride, I would not have to lay out a new route, we could have dinner at Freebird's,,, problems all solved???!!!??? I think the problem is that we get together tooo often,, now why don't I just shut up!!!!!! I'll talk to Marca about this,,,, she comes up with good ideas,, sometimes,,,, and she might just have one hidden that I haven't heard yet.

No need to wear that,,,,, everybody can experience the difference just by being there.

That's Charlie out fishing. Yep, got the water, beer, 'fishin' pole and all the comforts of home. Now just to figure out how to get that 'fish' on shore and cooked while he relaxes after a hard afternoon.

I think you got my point,,,, buddy found the holes that we need to keep a constant eye out for. He found them because he was looking for them and he knew he was going to need them. Do we do the same? Do we look for possible dangers that lay ahead, and then look for the way through? Are we ready to squeeze our bike through a little hole to get to safety on the other side and leave trouble behind us? Really,,, I think buddy was playing with his life, as well as those of maybe some others. He was out looking for trouble and got very lucky, but it could teach us something,,, question is: are we willing to take a lesson. 100% agreeded but he is an IDIOT in my opinion. I'm glad he did post it on the internet, that way we can see it and learn what there is to learn,,,, kind of in real life,,,,,, I mean, what instructor is going to pull off stunts like this just so the students can watch him become a statistic. Carl

Well it's not what I expected to see,,,, YEP, I think him to be an idiot, or however you say it in Russian, don't even know if it's real,,,,,, BUT A lesson can be learned from this video,,, real or not real. He had perfect control over his bike, knew it's limitations, it's parameters, it's power and it's braking abilities. Had a good handle on traffic patterns (yet he was an absolute fool) and had guts! Most of the video showed lane splitting and I'll not discuss that, but the way he demonstrated where to find holes and avenues to keep going is something we should all be aware of. In training one of the most repeated pieces of info that we were told was: The THROTTLE is your friend, not your brake. He used that to the full extent. When in trouble it's something to keep in mind: you're probably better to find a hole, go through it and end up safe on the opposite side, rather than to brake, dump the scoot and\or get rear ended in the process. That's also why we were trained to have that scoot in 1st gear when you come to a stop,,, and then do 'shoulder checks'. Yep, I think we can learn something from this fella's mistakes, that being riding like that. He was thinking a long ways ahead of where he was, his head was up and he had to be concerned not where he was at the present, but where he was going and what dangers and concerns there would be when he got there. Never stopped planning, this boy.

I'd say that's a bit scary, sure glad I live where I do!

side stand ...she be broke!
Marcarl replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You should add a swing arm service, pumpkin service, clean and rebuild all brake cylinders and masters, as well as the clutch slave cylinder. And there is more, but those are some of the safety issues that come to mind. Sounds like you got something to keep you busy, hope the fire is warm. Carl
