  1. All this serves the same purpose as noise, it impresses the rider.
  2. Now if you had been riding an '85, you would have had time for ice-cream!
  3. Ya next time plan this so we can ALL go along,,,, I mean you need to pick a day when we're not all busy with other things. Glad you all had a good time,,, looks like the roads were awesome, the food was good,,,, but where was the ice-cream???????
  4. You do have an issue,,, could be: An electrical leak, can be determined by taking the positive off the battery and seeing how many amps the bike draws vs what it should draw and then start removing fuses to decide where the problem is. A second bum battery, or maybe it wasn't so new as expected. A not so good charging system yet, maybe some loose connections or a weak stator. I would start with: Charging the battery to full capacity, let it sit for 12 hours and check to make sure the voltage is at least 12.5 volts, anything less and you have a problem in the battery department. If you have a spare power source, you can check for electrical leaks at the same time. You'll need either a charged battery, or a charger, trickle charger will probably do, hooked up to your bike and then you can determine where the draw is going, just by unhooking things as you go along.
  5. Prayers are here for you George, and your family as well. On the flip side,,,,,, how many of wish we could start over again, or could forget the past, now you experience it, so keep us posted as to what's happening,,,, glad to hear you at least still have the knowledge base. Carl
  6. Congrat's Boo, hope you can a have a few more healthy ones, 43, that's a long trip, enjoy your time together.
  7. Glad you asked, and it's done.
  8. One of those deceiving situations where it looks dry enough, but ends up with a water hole under it all. Can't really blame the excavator operators for their problems, they went in to help, but how often do they experience a farmer's field,,, found out the hard way I'd say!
  9. My thoughts exactly, but after my first comments, I thought maybe I should be a little quiet, so I won't say it,,,,, at least not now....... Nice ride, but my wife would be staying home,,,,, she wants 'security',,,, faring, bags etc.
  10. He lives in Wisconsin,,,,,, have one of those to go to town to rent one of those thingies and then find a neighbor who knows how to run it.
  11. He got nothin' better to do but make sawdust:stirthepot:
  12. Looks just fine to me, looks like a HD wantabe, just wantabe a bit more. Is it faster or does it make more noise now???
  13. Hi Bro, Praying for you, that His healing hand will be with you. And don't worry about the coffee, I'll just have an extra,,, I mean it's the least I can do.
  14. Might have been,,, but then he was driving a Trans Am and he was 19,,, nothing was going to happen,, really,,,,, invincible right?????? YA!!!!
  15. Happy day for both of you, now if we could know how many:happy65:

  17. Now I'm all confused, in my email it says MiCarl, and so I gets all upset and get over hear to set things straight, because I wouldn't want him to have to take blame for something I did,,, and then it says: Marcarl. I tell you, these computers are funny things, can't trust them no how.
  18. Seeing as I am the most northern replier, I'll stand corrected if necessary.
  19. Air leak is definitely not good, so should be fixed. Back firing is really a loud bang in the carbs, but what I think you mean is that you have an explosion in the exhaust, also commonly referred to as 'back fire', this is caused by too much fuel in the exhaust system, and so in effect you have an 'after burn' situation, very easily caused by too rich a mixture on the downswing, yep, can be caused by too large a pilot jet.
  20. I think something that smell kind of natural would be the ticket, that way my wife can get used to it and not complain so much at other times,,,,,, think that would work,,,ummmm
  21. I thinks it's all abot the 'emembers, not the 'ikes
  22. Yep,,, that's me right there alright,,,,, look real close, 2 inches from the bottom 30 people in from the side 4 rows up toward the center, next to that girl with the pokodoted skirt. Wow!! Neat though eh?
  23. Replace the filter, you could have a bad one, or installed backwards. Change the fuel lines, they will start to break down, especially if they have been dry for some time. This is in addition to the former post by bkuhr.
  24. What I think,,,, hey you asked what I think OK? You have only one rear wheel, if it gives up, or locks up? what happens? I think maybe you should be the judge of that. On the other hand, it may just wear and so get more play and start to make noise, steer you in the wrong direction and vibrate. You could take a chance on that happening slowly and that you might catch it before it wrecks anything else,, then again it might not. As I'm thinking about this,, is the play between the axle and the wheel or at the swing arm? Swing arm is not as bad as at the axle. Carl
  25. Real nice, thanks for sharing. Looks like you all had a great time in an awesome part of the country.
