  1. Nice looking ride! Made the old fashioned way. No-bailout. First white one I've seen. There is a older black and orange painted one in the next town that is a real eye-catcher also.
  2. BRRRR! Have a great trip. You'll definitely have some bragging rites when you get done.
  3. I've removed the rotor for the starter clutch upgrade. While it is down I'll rebuild the clutch slave cylinder. It is also time to change the front fork oil when DOT gets put back together.
  4. Ever hear of Brut snowmobiles? My brother-in-law has a 440 Brut. I think it was the first water cooled sled made. It ran like a raped ape back then. I still have my old 72, 750 Kawasaki and a 72 Kawasaki 350 bighorn that I inherited from my father. I took a few laps around the farm on it a couple of weeks ago. Still runs sweet! Your basement would bring me to feeling like a kid in a candy store.
  5. Brings back memories. I had two friends back in the days that rode Pentons when we all motocrossed. Great bikes. The only weak point on one of my buddys 125 was the shifting mechanism built into the side case. I say weak, but the real problem was his full leg shifting! He had so much trouble with the side case breaking that it garnered him the nickname "Tranny Danny". That name would be taken totally out of context now. :rotfl:
  6. I drive a green truck and car. Does that count?
  7. Quick, take shelter Irans up to something! Oh forget it, its just another sunset in Paradise. Beautiful. Wish I was there.

To another old fart venturerider like ME.:rotfl: Hang in there Charlie and may you have many more wherever you are.
  9. You bought that? Now you've done it? What you have there are pieces of metal left over from building the original fugisit! Which were lost when it was transfered to Canada. Rumor has it that the pieces left over were highly prized for their fugisit proprieties. The last known owner was a guy by the name of Jack. You've heard of him before. Or are you the guy that doesn't know Jack? :rotfl: No Idea what you have Carl. But couldn't help myself.
  10. I seen that big yellow thing in the sky for a few minutes today! Some lying guy on the TV says I might see it again this week! Yippee!!!!!!!!!
  11. 1 extra hour of endless Pinocchio commercials. Or? 1 extra hour of sleep. Sleep wins!
  12. Or? The alternative voice. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxVkAhto0Ag&feature=player_detailpage]They're Comming to take me away (funny farm), - YouTube[/ame]
  13. No its the four button unit. Thanks for the offer and reply though.
  14. OK we're riding along last week {Monday-Tuesday} going to Lincoln Caverns in Pa. listening to the radio. I reach up with my thumb to hit the seek button on the radio remote on the left handlebar. It changes channel but when I go to release the button it pops out at me. Luckily my finger is still there to stop it from its jumping to oblivion at 55. I manage to grab it and hand it over to the wife. Upon inspection of the button it seems to have a broken spear { for want of a better word} which renders it unusable. Does anyone have a spare one lying around with a few missing buttons that would be willing to sell me a button out of it?
  15. Basically we've been through worse thunderstorms around here. It took me ten minutes to pickup tree branches this morning is all and none of those were very big. There are a few trees down but no power outages in our neighborhood. The schools are all closed only because of downed trees across roads. Alot of hype more than anything here. Sounds as if the coast took the brunt of it. Now if that bad word s##w just stays away for a few more weeks I might get another ride or two in.
  16. You might also try to put a small hose clamp on it to pry it in a different spot.
  17. Hummmm:scratchchin: The air suspension only adjusts with the key on the acc position. If it doesn't work come back and the wizards on here will walk you through the fix. The dreaded 2nd gear issue is not a problem on anything after 1986. Check the bottom of the trunk for stress cracking also check the adjustable backrest for the passenger seat where it attachés to the trunk. It "could" be broke there. Again not a big deal to fix if your handy at all. Ask when the last time the "Drive Pins" in the rear end were greased. This should usually be done when replacing the tires. Ask if the carbs have ever had the diaphragms replaced. Put it on the center stand and check to see how tight the steering is. Again its not the end of the world to fix if too sloppy. If your handy with tools and like to tinker you can fix about anything yourself on these bikes. Plus there are alot of knowledgeable people on this site that will help you through it. BUT sometimes it takes awhile to sort through the . One of my friends had a yellow 87 it sure was pretty.:wel_ani4Tay:
  18. Have you looked at your carb diaphragms yet? The carbs do not need to be removed to do this. If they are full of holes they will not open causing a rich condition and severely poor performance. These bikes don't run to well without the air-box completely installed, but will run nevertheless. Take the top off the air-box and watch down the carbs with it running. It will buck and backfire a bit but look to see if all the carbs bounce and open somewhat the same. Don't stick you face right over the top while doing this.
  19. It is getting nearer HALLOWEEN! Maybe a pre-ghoulish prank?
  20. Next you guys will be wanting chrome to cover up your HO-HOs.:rotfl:
  21. Just skip 2nd gear till you fix it. We rode west years ago without 2nd gear in the 83 we had. It was a great trip with no worse transmission problems. As was said the thrust washer at the end of the output shaft is the real culprit. It wasn't made hard enough causing it to wear past acceptable limits thereby letting 2nd gear find a made-up neutral. OUCH. One thing about it it scares the *#@! out of you when it happens.
  22. Congrats on the new pad. Now what did you do on your time off.
  23. Looks like a 20" bike to me. He must have been really short.
  24. So if going back to work sucks. The alternative is ? I know, I know ,living in a van down by the river!
