  1. Welcome to the site. If nothing else it would be a #ell of a RAT BIKE. There are a few pictures of some RAT bikes on this site somewhere. Traded for a couple of Daisy's.:rotfl: Well at least your new to you Venture has a name "DAISY":D
  2. My old 83 was bad about plugs. New spark plugs are relatively cheap. The Venture does not like to run smooth with the air cleaner top removed. It will miss and backfire. As your looking down into the carburetors while its running look to see if all the sliders are fluttering about the same. If so,good. Check to see that the connector from the stator is OK. You will find this about half way up the frame rail on the left side of the bike. About top of your ankle. This connector will burn and cause bad mojo. Some clean it some cut and solder the wires. Whatever you decide. If the sliders are not fluttering relatively the same in the carbs, inspect why. The diaphragms could be bad. They are easily removed. Dans advice on the Seafoam is spot-on ,do it. Just peruse the service Manuel on this site for all its worth. Right now $12. Best $12 ever spent. Good luck and ask away until you get it running right.

  5. Harley? Gotta ride one of them one day. On the radio their new add around here says " Find the NEW you" I figured I didn't lose me to find me. Besides a "new me" on this "old me" body scares the #ell out of ME. WELCOME.
  6. Hope your new hip fits like a glove when their done with you. Have to agree with PB&J on the 2nd gen ride. See ya in a few.
  7. Hope the move from the FJR wasn't a Bergman. If so. Oh well. They even let Goldwingers in here now. Wecome back 2 Venturerider Charlie.

Check out this mountain ridge ride. http://screen.yahoo.com/motorcycle-ridge-riding-084000429.html
  9. I seen the one at the Air Force Museum in Ohio a few years back. What struck me most about the plane was the size of it. It wasn't a very big plane. In person it looked as if was made by ED Roth. You know, all engine and hardly any plane!

    WWII

Don't know if anyone here is interested but this site has alot of pictures. My father was at D-Day on a LST. He didn't talk much about it but when he did I could tell it left quite a impression on him. I'm always on the lookout for any pictures of the ship he was on. There were not any here but quite interesting anyway. http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/pages/ww2/
  11. We have bought some at a craft store called Michaels for drying flowers. Fairly pricey for the little bit you would need though. Some cat litter is 100% desiccant also. Its been said there is desiccant packed in every shipping crate that has a motorcycle in it which gets thrown away when the bike gets put together. Could be free for the asking if you are in with any dealers. Just so its silica based not clay based and it should work. Don't know if these help but I tried.
  12. I thought it was code for DC.
  13. The term "Rice Burners" still applies.:rotfl:
  14. I had some given to me way back at Potato Creek. Took it home and put it in the tires and did not feel any difference in the handing of the bike. When it was time to replace the tires the rims were not damaged at all and cleanup was easy. I ordered more for every new tire change since and have not had any problems. Knock on wood I haven't had any flats or picked up any objects to verify if it works or not. But for the few bucks it costs it is worth that for piece of mind. If it works like they boast. I believe Green Slime is not recommended for high speed tires and it does leave alot of slimy residue all over whatever rim you use it on.
  15. Looks like a keeper. Now you can drive once and awhile if your so inclined.
  16. How about Electwosee.
  17. I think I'm going to puke!
  18. DOT {doing our thing}
  19. WHY, thats creative.:rotfl:
  20. That there is what I call Dedication.
  21. That guy could ride a marble and make it look easy.
  22. Snow is not the problem, even though we have 2 feet or more its the wind and cold today here. Woke up to 8 degrees, got up to 10 degrees for a high. Snow devils blowing all around today. Walking on it it makes that scrunching noise. Kind of like a fat man in a leather suit. It's still snowing and blowing out but its winter. Definitely have plenty of snow now for a major snow sculpture when it becomes good packing snow. Time to get creative!
  23. I've said it before. Once Yamahas Uncle Cassatimoto runs out of cassette players. BAM! No more Ventures.:rotfl:
  24. I would investigate your coils. Had my nephews dodge pickup not start if it even was a damp day out. Heat up the coil with a hair dryer and it would run no problem. With four coils on the Venture a miss from one or more could happen also. When you do get it started try using a laser temp gun to find which cylinders are running properly. If not carry a extra plug and pull the plug wire , plug your extra plug into the cap and see if you have spark to that cyl.
