  1. I put the silverstar bulb in my 89 VR and my buddy's 89 VR and we both are very happy with the additional brightness of the headlight now. We pick up a twin pack at the local Fleet Farm. I would recommend them to others. Rick F.
  2. Not I .. but I do plan on buy a set of these soon off of Ebay.. Let me know when you get yours and I wont bid till after that.. Rick F..
  3. I went with the Sony Bravia XBR series of TVs. This is their high end LCD HDTV with 1080P. I am very happy with the picture and would recommend it highly. I purchased it from a local chain, Ultimate Electronic, which price matches for 60 days. I would also recommend that you dont buy any of your cables from Best Buy or any of the box stores but try some of these place. http://www.cablemart.com http://www.monoprice.com I was able to get a wall mount for under $20 from them and they also have HDMI cables at a very reasonable price. Good luck and dont be afraid to have the sales people try different picture sources on the TV you are interested in. A good dealer will be able to but up an Over the Air signal and show you how the TV looks with it. Rick F.
  4. Here are a few sites that sell them that I have been looking at. http://www.bencostuff.com/mpages/cyclelifts.html http://www.discountramps.com/motorcycle-lifts.htm Check these out and see if they have something you might want. Rick F.
  5. Another source is Old Bike Barn http://www.oldbikebarn.com/Street/1989-Yamaha-XVZ1300-Venture-Royale and they have diagrams for $65 each. I havent used them but I believe some have other here have. Rick F.
  6. Big Bike Parts no longer has this item for sale. I checked with them earlier this year to pick up one and was told they no longer stock or sale this item. JC Whitney use to list one also and it is no longer listed on their website either. Not sure where to find one at as I havent seen one listed Ebay for a long time now. If you do find a source, can you let us know. Thanks Rick F.
  7. I have been using Seafoam in my engines for over 10 years and dont think I will use anything else. Most will start on the first pull of the season after I change the oil. I use it in the motorcycle all the time and in my personal car, which is driven very little, and have experienced no gas related problems to any of them. Seems like a product that does what it says it will and then some. Just my opinion... Rick F.
  8. Dont forget about the bleeder for the link brake system that is at the top of the triple tree. It is between the false tank cover and the triple tree. This is the highest point on the link brake system, left front caliper and the rear brake controled by the rear master cyclinder. I would recommend if you dont have a service manual, to download the one from the tech section and reference it to the proper bleeding sequence. Here is the link to it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3384 Good Luck. Rick F.
  9. Try them on dry and see what feels the best for you as you sit on the bike. That is how I approached it. They right grip is some what of a guess since it will be rotating anyway. Follow their directions and you shouldnt have any issues. Good Luck.. Rick F.

  17. Were these Yamaha OEM replacement seals or where they an aftermarket seal. Just curious as I am thinking about rebuilding my front forks also. Thanks Rick F.
  18. Becky, give yourself some time with the bike and you will get the feel for it. It is a heavier bike then you are use to riding and it does have a higher center gravity but with time you wont even notice it. You might want to pick up the video, Ride Like a Pro.. http://www.ridelikeapro.com/ I have a copy and found that has helped with my slow speed handling of my Venture. Good Luck and maybe we will see you riding around the cities sometime. Rick F...
  19. New mirror from Yamaha goes for over $200 now. So that should tell you what to bid on Ebay. I have noticed them going cheaper lately so you might get lucky there. Good luck.. Rick F.
  20. When looking for a drivers backrest, you need to find one for a 86-93 Venture as the 83-85 are different and mount differently. Also be prepared to pay some $$$ for one as they seem to go high, but they are worth it on a long trip. Good Luck... Rick F.
  21. check out webBikeWorld site. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/motorcycle-helmets.htm They have alot of reviews on all different types of helmets and it might be a great place to start in your search and help point you in a direction. They find a dealer with the helmet of your choice and try it on and see if you like it or not. Good Luck... Rick F...
  22. I hadnt heard of them till now and did find this website. http://www.ceebaileys.com/cycle/ Looks like an ok windshield but I havent heard of anyone using this make of windshield. You will have to let us know how it works out. Thanks Rick F.
  23. Sounds good Becky, glad you are getting the bike fixed. Maybe we will see you out riding one of these days. I have an 89 maroon VR that I tool around on some. Seems works gets in the way of my riding more and more but that is how is goes sometimes. Good luck and enjoy your ride. Rick F.
  24. Hey Becky, what exactly wrong with your rear end for your 88 VR? Just curious what the mechanic said about it. Thanks.. Rick F.
  25. Becky, SportWheel out in Jordan, MN has a 87 Venture out there that should have one on it. I was out there a few weeks ago and they had just gotten the bike in for parts. Give them a call and see how much they want for it and you can pick it up locally as they are just off of Hwy 169. http://www.sportwheel.com/ Hope that helps and get the bike back on the road. Rick F.
