  1. Thank you all for the information. I did NOT know about the unit only working in the ACCS positon. Makes a huge difference. Now, with the key in the correct postion I see an E-1 message flash, I hear a click towards the rear of the bike. With this new information is there any thing else I should check or should I proceed with the previous recommendations? Thank you all. Bill
  2. I have had my Venture for about a month now, I have rebuilt the Diaphrams with great success and got the headlights working fine with a tip from one of the members. Now I would like to see about the CLASS air system. It does not appear to be working. There is nothing on the readout screen. Does anyone know of a site that shows how to walk your way thur this system from end to end? I am not really even sure how this thing is supposed to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bill
  3. I was hoping to see an answer here........I am having the same basic problem. BnkrBill
  4. I would like to purchase a new seat cover for an 88. I checked with several Yamaha parts houses and they do list two different ones. When I tried to order we found that they are both discontinued and no longer available. I would like to have gotten one that was close to original. Do any of you know where one can be purchased? If I need to have mine redone, can you give me an idea of what is a fair price to pay? The seat is in good condition, but the cover is shot. Thanks BnkrBill
  5. As soon as I read your suggestion I walked out in the garage. I was back inside in less than a minute and the lights WORK! This just saved me a boat load of time. I really appreciate it. Bill
  6. Hello........... Still trying to get my new ride off the ground. I noticed that all the lights are working with the exception of the head light. Does anyone have a quick way to trouble shoot this? Thanks Bnkrbill
  7. Hello........... I have had my new ride for about 3 days now, posted a question about bogging down and with the help a few of you was able to determine the diaphrams have some holes in them. I have them out. How does a person take the diaphram portion off of the slide? Where the diaphram hooks onto the slide there is what looks like a plastic washer on top and underneath. Does it unscrew? I can get it to twist a little but do not see it coming off very easily. Anybody have an idea how this is done? Thanks Bnkrbill
  8. Thanks for all great ideas. I will get the seafoam and give that a whirl. I checked the choke and relased the cable where it hooks up. It appears that the choke is stuck. Could it still run at low rmp with the choke stuck open? And here's a real dumb one. How the heck do I get the seat off? Thanks Bnkrbill
  9. How would I go about determining that? If I use the throttle they only move a little bit. Bnkrbill
  10. Ok, here's the deal. I was very glad when I found there was a site for Yamaha Ventures Today I purchased an 88 Venture Royale. It is in what appears to be very good shape, however I noticed that it would not rev up. It will go well out of the hole but will not let the rpm's get very high. You need to shift sooner than usual or it will bog down. Max speed as it is right now is about 45 mph. At a standstill if you give it throttle it will only rev up a little and then it stutters. I pulled the parts off to look down the throat of the carbs and as I give it throttle all 4 sleeves appear to shutter after moving only a little. Since the rest of the bike was excellent, the transmission felt good and the engine appears to run well I thought I would take a chance on it being something relatively simple. Any ideas? or do I have a real nice coat rack in may garage? Thanks for any help you can give me BnkrBill
