I came home the other night and my new neighbor ( a young woman) and a man were getting ready to move a huge couch in. I asked if they would like some help and they said yes. We got the couch just barely into the opening and it wouldn't go any farther. The lady had left the key in the door and the plastic wrap was hung on it. Luckily we didn't break the key. Went right on in after the key was pulled out.

I just got back from there Sunday. Probably going back in June without my wife on the dirt bike. There are some sights that are too far off the beaten path for the Venture.

Valve noise on a 08 Rstd with less than 1000 miles

It sounds to me like your oil change caused the noise. I would change the oil again and put Yamalube back in and see what it sounds like. -
I use a Garmin 60 CSX. I can download routes that others have made or make my own.

This is some sensible stuff. Masaad Ayoob has a book called In The Gravest Extreme that everybody that carries should read. The only problem with Masaad Ayoob is he has never met a police shooting that he didn't agree with.

I am generally an ATTGATT type but if I am only going to the store here in the small town I call home I will ride the DR in shorts and a tee shirt. Thats the way I ride a bicycle and in town The speed isn't that much different. Especially since when I am dressed that way I ride slower than I normally do.

I move all over my lane. I try to position myself where that car that is about to pull out can see me even though I am behind another vehicle. If I am going down the road and somebody pulls up to an intersection I will weave back and forth in my lane. I believe this is very effective at getting them to notice me.

Personally I like a short and quick answer. I never would have asked the question.

Gear is a choice but make a good choice.

You can pay all the attention in the world but every once in a while something happens that leaves to short of a time to react or you don't know if that driver is going to stop in your path or keep moving so it ends up being a guessing game. -
Where I work on warm days there are about 15 bikes sitting in the motorcycle parking on warm dry days. A few years ago they probably ran 70 % Yamaha. Now it is probably 75 % Harley.

We are planning a vacation in Panama City at the end of July. Our son lives in Tallahassee and our daughter in Chicago. We would like to get one unit for all of us. We used to stay there when the kids were little and it seemed pretty reasonably priced but my wife has been doing some internet pricing and everything seems much higher. Even taking into account inflation. Has anybody got a place they recommend?

Try turning the squelch on the CB all the way up. I leave mine that way most of the time because the radio cuts out from stray signals sometimes.

I was on a trip to Duluth Mn a couple of years ago and developed a radiator leak. I got to where I could get that tank off in about 5 minutes. I also found out that JB weld for wet areas will work to patch a radiator.

So what kind of car do you have?

Statistics always have been manipulated. I remember reading one article that stated a very high percentage of motorcycle accidents involved drinking. I then realized that they hadn't bothered to separate the accidents caused by drunken motorcyclists and drunk drivers. I know from personal experience that on my 30 mile ride home from work at least one car will start to or actually pull out in front of me like I wasn't there. I have realized that if I don't think that they see me that if I whip the bike back and forth in my lane that they will usually see me.

I wear an Aerostich Roadcrafter when it is cold. Its 5 years old and is holding up very well. I wear mesh when it gets hot. I got the Aerostich more for physical protection than for warmth. It actually allows some air through if you don't use it with a windbreaker or something else. It is very stiff when new but does break in. I wear it when I am riding the dirt bike. I get back to town and stop at the car wash and wash the bike and then wash me and the suit. Some people complain that it isn't waterproof in the crotch but I have ridden for hours in the rain and never got wet. It is very easy to get into and out of. I have size13 feet and wear short steel toed boots with shorts to work and I can be into and out of the suit in about a minute. If I had been wearing a suit like this when I crashed I don't think I would have broken all the ribs that I did. It is so stiff I might have not torn my quadriceps either. It has padding every where I got badly bruised. Very well thought out.

Mine has never held speed like I think it should. I just use it on long trips when my hands get tired for a break for that reason. Motorcycles hold up traffic to much already with so many of them not having accurate speedometers.

I have been getting about 12000 from my Elite 3s. For comparison that's what I got from my 1 Avon rear that I tried.

When our kids were little my Dad told me my wife and I were going to get killed and leave the kids orphans. He had a way of being right about things so we quit riding together until the kids were grown. Then when I had my accident I was afraid for her to ride with me for a while. Then we bought all the safety gear and started riding together again. We probably ride together more than ever now.

I used to use them and never got more than 2 years out of them. After my original Yuasa battery went 5 years that's all I have used. The current one is 3 years old and going strong.

Besides using a wire to lift the yoke I ground a slight bevel on the end of mine while making sure to stay away from the splines.

After my second cracked Metzeler I wouldn't have taken another one if they paid me but I am starting to think it is pretty hard to make a tire for a bike this heavy. Since I have installed 2 sets of E3s on mine now I am optimistic that they are the best option for us because of the heavy sidewall. Even if it starts to dry rot there is a lot of extra material there.

First day of spring and parts of Mo are under a winter weather advisory. Possible 6 to 8 inches of snow.
