  1. I believe so. There are no combustion byproducts in the compressor oil so I dont worry about it near as much.
  2. I bought a Russell Day Long last year. Wish I had done it 70000 miles ago. My wife also likes it.
  3. I have a 110 volt Century which has been bought out by one of the big name companies. It is at least 15 years old. I have built several trailers with it. Only a 20% duty cycle so you have to weld for a while and then cut for a while. I converted it to gas several years ago. It has done everything I have asked of it. Sits in a corner until that couple of times a year when I need it.
  4. How many of you people complaining about not getting waved at don't wave at sport bikes? I am about the only one in my area that rides a dual sport and at this point I don't wave when I am riding it unless I am waved to because I get tired of being ignored.
  5. Was that Super Dave Osbourne riding that motorcycle?
  6. From what I have read in the paper we have some based in St. Louis that are crooked. I know years ago my sister had one and had a repair done. It was one of those 50/50 deals and her part was as much as it should have cost to start with. The work was done where she bought the car and by the people that sold her the warranty.
  7. Lamberts isn't a BBQ joint but it is about the best place to eat in the country. Except for the wait because they are always so busy.
  8. What tool did you do that with? 30 years ago I worked in a hardware store. It was amazing how many old carpenters were missing parts of several fingers.
  9. I rode all the way to Ouray from here in Mo once. When I got there they had the Million Dollar Hwy closed because of a landslide. Talk about disappointed. I did make it back a couple of years later in a car.
  10. Thanks. That looks like the way to go to me too.
  11. I will be traveling to Panama City Beach early in August. I am driving my Trans Am which gets very good gas mileage on the highway but drops pretty bad when faced with a lot of stoplights. I have routed from Hattiesburg,Ms to Mobile,Al on hwy 98. When I hit I65 should I go ahead and take it south to I 10? Looks much shorter to follow 98 but it also looks like it goes into a downtown.
  12. My cross brace was also hanging by a cable tie and had never been installed. My front tire was also mounted backwards. I noticed it at about 3000 miles. I made the dealer replace it. The only problem was he was 130 miles away from home.
  13. My accident was caused by somebody turning left into my lane. I was fortunate in that when I stopped bouncing and sliding I ended up a few feet from a telephone repairman working on a pedestal. He had heard my tires squealing in time to see the whole thing and told the Highway Patrol what happened. We didn't make contact but her insurance paid 9000 to repair the bike,12000 to repair me and another 20000 for pain and suffering and future possibilities. Probably could have been more but I handled it myself.
  14. I was wondering if you were the officer or the arsonist until I looked at your profile and realized you were a fireman.
  15. I rode from here in mid MO to Duluth,Mn (almost Canada) a couple of years ago.At that time I had about 68000 miles on my bike and my friend I was riding with had about 130000 miles on his Elektra Glide. Quess who ended up having problems with his bike. I ended up with a hole in my radiater, an impossibility with an Elektra Glide. http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad166/midnightventure/CIMG1753.jpg See the jug of antifreeze. I was afraid to go on with out the backup just in case the JBweld broke loose.
  16. Make sure the bike is vertical. If it is off a little it will make quite a difference in where it shows in the glass.
  17. This is a boat dealer that handles motorcycle parts. 560.25 http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-4XY-22210-00-00.html I notice that they are much higher than they were 2 years ago when I bought a radiator from them for 257 dollars. Now it is 307.
  18. If I was on my DR I would sure be studying the possibilities.
  19. I have been there too on a bike and my clutch hand was pretty tired by the time I made my trip up and down the strip. After that my wife let me get off on the side streets but we had to make that one trip just to see if there was any thing different.
  20. This was at a campground near Estes Park,CO. You could stand there and they would be flying all around your head.
  21. Removing the tank after doing it a few times is about a 5 min. job. At first I checked my plugs at the recommended intervals and they always looked new. My bike now has 82000 miles on it and I let them go at least 20000 miles before I worry about them. At that point they are cheap enough just have a spare set and change them. I believe that most of the recommended service intervals are a scam to make money for the dealers.
  22. There have been some people that had ignition switch wiring problems. Here is a link to an article about it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=512 And another with related info. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32359
  23. The only time I ever heard mine was after sitting in a line at the bank on a very hot day for several minutes.
  24. Several years ago I was starting to have pain like you describe and pain in my shoulder. I joined a gym and started doing the basic stuff. Pains went away in about 3 weeks( unless the guy that owns the gym talks me into trying to lift to much). It's been about 6 years now and I feel much better and my weight is much easier to control.
  25. I have one. It seems to be trouble prone. It came in handy when our power was out in a ice storm. I hooked a little battery powered radio to computer speakers so we could listen while we read.
