I'd prefer to not hit the SUV at all, but I have seen a lot of studies, and early test vids that Honda did, and no doubt in my mind they can help. As far as the stats, from what I have read, head on to side of left turning cage is the most common bike/cage accident. And the most common comment by cage drivers is "But officer, I didn't see it."

Wranglers up to 2006 are not that much different. Of course they had dissembled that one before and didn't put back any bolts that were not absolutely necessary. They only had two lug nuts on each wheel. Only one or two bolts in body, normally there are 10 or 12. And did you notice that there was no water in the radiator?

I've never spent more than 15 or so minutes because of the kill switch, but I have done it multiple times on multiple bikes. And by that I mean more than once on each bike.

here is my 07 with yamaha lower wings and black deflectors,, you really can't see the deflectors they blend in with the black of the air filter covers and the engine. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=2360

Interesting, discussing a drowned horn in the watering hole!!

I guess the inventors of eBook should sue Facebook then.. terms eBook and dynabook have been around since the 70s

20w-50 is generally for air cooled bikes as they run hotter, water cooled bikes usually run 10W-40. The Royal Star manual actually calls for 20W-40 in hot weather and 10w-30 in cold weather. I run 10w-40

I had an 82 750 Seca, basically the same engine, I recommend you put an oil cooler on it.. Really slows down the need for valve adjustments, not that they needed it that often to start with.

I have not changed anything on mine in almost two years, and my mileage is less than it was two years ago. And when I synced my carbs they were still real close and it didn't help.. I really thing in the last two years the levels of ethanol has steady gone up to the 10% limit. And I was reading the other day they have decided that in modern vehicles they can safely go to 15% so the max limit will be changing.

Yeah, the price bump in the Venture the last few years makes no sense, but that price on the Cross Country is with no trunk, no intercom, no CB, no cassette!!! Victory Vision with all the same amenities is $23,199.
-
Come on guys, it's farther down on the features page "Single-point audio control system for AM/FM radio, cassette, CD changer and intercom is MP3-compatible and headset-ready."

Hmmm, I don't know if I want to admit to any of them, and just the list of dumb things done on motorcycles would take awhile.

surprised no one mentioned changing the fuel filter.

Probably because of their efforts in the 70s they killed all street legal 2-strokes a long time ago. But actually there are several European manufactures of small 2-strokes for scotters that now meet EPA standards. They are different technology and do not mix gas and oil. I believe Vespa has a couple models with that technology they sell outside the U.S. only.
-
I'm pretty sure the final of the tiered EPA standard went in to effect Jan 2010. I was surprised Royal Stars were still had carburetors for this year.

You got a link or a local supplier for the Deka battery? That is my thought, but not sure what. The Zumo 550 connection couldn't be doing it, could it? I never take it off the bike in the garage.

Seeing as we are on batteries anyway, what is it with the RSV and killing batteries?? This is the first bike I have every had that will drain a battery in a little over a month sitting with the key off. Went out today to start the bike because I haven't ridden in a while, found I have forgot to plug in the tender and the battery was totally dead!! ARRRGGG!!! The bike is only 2 1/2 years old and this was a new battery just a year and 1/4 ago!!

Just reading your signature, How about the unknown knowns, the things we know but don't know we know them. Of course they do us any good because we didn't know we knew them.

But what is the valve duration and timing.. compression ratio is figured theoretically assuming valves are closed on the compression stroke from BDC to TDC. On the compression stroke the intake valve does not actually close until after the piston is passed BDC on its way back up. Just a degree or two of difference on intake timing can make a noticable difference on the PSI.
-
Apparently the government thinks if they ignore it long enough Darwin will take care of it. What they don't seem to realize the ones causing the problems are the usually the ones that survive to reproduce.
-
actually PSI is not directly related to compression ratio, except in a given engine increasing the compression ratio will increase the PSI, but changing the valve lash and/or cam profile will also change the PSI without effecting the compression ratio.

I have been seriously thinking about giving up motorcycling because even though I ride much more controlled and careful than I did in my youth on sport bikes. I feel the average driver over the last ten years is getting worse, including professionals such as police, fire and truck drivers. I find it hard to get on the bike without being afraid of all the clowns on the road.

Sounds great,, I'll have to try it.. But truthfully I'd be happy if I could just find a store that sells Blue Bell, white chocolate almond. Both stores by me stopped carrying it.
