Well the Harley crowd did not accept it, but hardly too small. 1250 cc, 125hp, 109 at the rear wheel with 79ftlbs torque at the rear wheel. The Venture 1300 cc has 77hp and 74ftlbs torque at the rear wheel, and the 2006 Road King (much larger engine, 1580cc) only had 62hp and 67ftlbs torque at the rear wheel.

Up until the 09 frame redesign the HD touring bikes wheelbase was a fair amount smaller than the Venture, I think the same as a V-star 650.

Needs a V-rod engine!!!

Screw going to the store, call corporate, tell the story, demand a new phone, and two months free service for the unprofessional treatment.

Well if you can figure out how to make the averag person put more importance on edcation than Monday night football, so that politicians would find it advantagous to their elections to make education an actual priority in stead of a smoke and mirrors talking piece, you just let me know.

That is funny, I work for Verizon, and I was not going to recommend them!!

Well, I've been happy with the same wireless provider for 13 years, but I am hesitant to suggest them in case they are the same one you are POed at!

I both agree and disagree, Honda is a great company that does tons of research, and tries to stay on the cutting edge, but their products are not that much better than others, and their price is often no better than anyone else when you factor in did you get what you need and want for the money. And historically in the US, any product not just motorcycles, whoever has the best marketing sells the most, not the company with the best product. To prove my point look up the sales of Trane and American Standard air conditioning units. Trane has better marketing and sells a lot more. Trane is a sub-division of American Standard and they are the same units. When I bought my RSV money for one bike was not an issue, I could have afforded any one of the full dress bikes I wanted. It was a very, very, very, very, tough decision for me and I test rode bikes and debated two years. When it came down to what I liked the most, I couldn't decide. The RSV was most comfortable, the Goldwing best handling at speed, the Beemer almost as comfortable as the RSV and quieter, better stereo, great unique looks. They all seemed great on the freeway. They all had the amenities I needed to run two up. Had they all been the exact same price with the exact same warranty, and the same # of dealers for convenience and service I would probably still be trying to decide. In the final decision I eliminated the BMW because of the limited # of dealerships and not having one closer than 60 miles to me. I eliminated the Goldwing because I didn't care for how felt in stop and go traffic, and lack of 5 year warranty. Even now, after having put $3000 in accessories to make my RSV fit me even better than it did, when ever I am in the cage and see a Goldwing or 1200LT I go OOOHHHH!.. And now with the new 09 longer and more comfortable frame, even though I don't care for air cooled engines, when I see a new HD Ultra I go OOOHHHH! If I won the lottery I would probably have 4 full dress touring bikes in my garage, just to suit my mood when I wanted to ride.

Just for the sake of someone on another forum mentioned they had talked to a Yamaha rep recently and THEY said the next Venture has already been designed based on the new V-max 1700 engine, but do not know when or if they will get approval from corporate to start manufacturing.
-
I have no problem with what ever someone rides, it is just all the Venture needs to catch up comments that bother me. Other than FI which would be nice, but not necessary, HD is just now catching up to what the Venture has been all along. If HD had the new framed Ultra with a V-rod engine back when I bought my RSV it might have been a different story. But they do not have that even now. I do not like air cooled engines and will not buy one.

Speaking of same old crap, what about the HD air cooled push rod engine!!!! And as far as resale, used 2010 Ultra Limited trad in lists for $18,700, 2010 RSV S trade in lists for $12,400 that is about $6k difference, brand new there was ahhhmmmm, $6k difference.

I never said just what I was comparing it to, so how can you say it is not valid? I was just trying to compare how fast your eyes adjusted to changes, brights coming up on you, even during the day, changes the amount of light your eye is hit with fairly rapidly. While the sun is much brighter, it doesn't change quickly, and unless you come around a mountain corner into the setting sun (which has almost caused me to crash before) your eyes have plenty of time to adjust before it is right in your face. My wife can walk into a dark theater and just keep going and find a seat, I have to stop and wait a couple minutes before I can see anything. Same going out to bright sun, I have to stop and shade my eyes for about a minute, even though I wear glasses with transitions automatic tinting lenses.

I just looked at a new Ultra Limited.. While the chrome and paint have always been better on HD than Yamaha, and the stereo has been better for a few years, all the other 09 changes just bring the HD up to where the RSV has been since 99, minus the smooth liquid cooled engine. And for 7 grand more, without the 5 year warranty, not sure there is a real good reason to change the RSV. Sure it would be nice, but if I was looking to buy a new touring bike right now, it would still be between the RSV, Goldwing, and BMW LT. And the Wing is still not as comfortable, and the BMW still has very limited dealership base and is expensive to maintain. As far as the cassette deck, it has an AUX jack, most cars didn't have that until recently, and I have cassettes left over from the 70s that the only place I can play them is on the RSV.
-
Just as a comparison, when you walk into a movie theater from a bright sunny day, can you still see well enough to find your seat, and when you leave back into the can you just walk out or do you have to shade your eyes for a minute or two before you can see again?

This is incorrect! 40% of men over 50 have some amount of night blindness, which can also cause a person to lose focus when there is high contrast bright lights, even in the day time. It is not per-say blinding a person with light, but it still makes it so they can't see. I have had night blindness all my life, not just since I turned 50. I have a hard time focusing and seeing where I'm going, even during the day, when brights are in my review mirrors, let alone when they are coming straight at me.

The Anti-federalist party started in 1780 opposing the Federalist idea of throwing out the articles of confederation and adding the constitution as they felt eventually it would lead to the loss of state's rights. They also opposed the Federalists idea of limiting the right to bear arms. They failed to stop the constitutional convention but managed to get state's rights and the right to bear arms into the Constitution. Later under Jefferson in morphed into the Democratic-Republican party, then under Andrew Jackson became the Democratic party. The Whig party started in 1833 and fell apart by about 1850. The Whigs, Democrats, And Free Soilers that opposed slavery became the Republican party shortly after that.

What is really stupid is that it is the obvious answer. If it was evolution, then they evolved from one celled organisms that didn't yet lay eggs. If they were created by god, then of course the chicken came first. No matter how you look at it, the chicken came first, not sure why it was ever a question. When ever anyone has ever asked me which have first (usually as a rhetorical question) I always answer the chicken.

I may have worded that poorly, it was a friend of Yellow Wolf's, not mine. Actually it is the guy on the bike with the camera, he is on a Jeep forum I frequent. But Yellow Wolf is a legend!!
