...........and a puff or two of 'FABREZE' and it will be like the oil spill never happened................ No one has ever actually studied what effect oil dispersant has on shell fish. 90% of all oysters sold in the US come from the central Gulf, and 85% of all other oyster beds in the world have been depleted, and oysters are the major filters for ocean life in general. There are already over 100 dead spots in the ocean around the world. If we kill off any more oyster beds, we may be looking at major die offs of many other species.

Same reason we send cargo by ships, and send shipments by truck. Same reason we call them apartments when they are all stuck togeather Same reason we call them buildings even after they are finished.

Stalled and sweaty, why?
hig4s replied to Dave77459's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I would suggest try bypassing the filter for a few minutes, if you don't have a spare to install. And if that doesn't make any difference, try bypassing the fuel pump. The way I understand it, the bike will run pretty well without the fuel pump. May not have its full acceleration.I have read where people have continued trips without too much trouble bypassing bad fuel pumps until they could find a shop with one. -

I see. from the Honda website. "What happens when you take the wicked, stripped-down styling cues of our Fury chopper and throw in a large dose of pro-street dragster? Well, you’re looking at it: the all-new Honda Sabre."

While this may be true, I am skeptical. This is after all, BP. Remember in 06 when their pipe in Alaska leaked. The one that was supposed to be checked several times a year but hadn't been properly inspected in years, and the president of BP knew it. And this happened shortly after he was publicly bragging about being the most environmentally concerned oil company.

Leveling Links Vs Smaller front

I have never tried the leveling links, but I have the smaller front tire and have not noticed any high speed squirrels.- 19 replies

Bogus means "having a misleading appearance". And it did. Stating a fact is not an insult. But I am sorry if it caused you to feel you needed to use made up incendiary terms like safety-crate socialism. I'll try not to use confusing words from now on.

here is a link for Rick Mayer Cycle http://www.rickmayercycle.com/ When I had my old Kaw done, I found a used stock seat cheap on Ebay and sent it off to be modified. So I still had a seat to ride on. Rick can be a little slow.

BMW's outrigger studies on ABS brakes was done with the same bikes using a wide cross section of riders from beginners to pro racers. There is where the proof comes from that pro racers can stop faster on clean dry pavement than ABS.. But it also showed that on slippery, wet, and changing traction situations, even pro racers stopped faster with the ABS, and non pros managed to stay on two wheels where without they did not. So it is not just about how fast you stop, but whether you come to a stop on two wheels or on you butt. And we all know the fact is, once you are not on the rubber, stopping takes much longer.

I have no problems with my pillow top, but back on my last sport touring bike, the seat was brutal.. I had it customized by Rick Mayer Cycle. I was able to do 400 mile days on a 750 sport touring bike and when I did stop it was usually things other then the seat that was the problem. Note, Rick Mayer is the younger son of Bill Mayer Sr. Bill Mayer Sr. designed the Russell Day Long seat before he opened his own company Mayer Saddle, where he made a few design changes. Mayer Saddle is now owned by Bill Mayer Jr. Rick worked at Mayer Saddle but left to open his own shop when Bill Jr inherited the company. So basically if you buy a seat from Russel, Mayer, or Rick Mayer you are getting a Bill Mayer Sr. design.

And I'm not against an on/off switch, and don't really care if the government mandates ABS or not on motorcycles. But your same argument can be used to allow lots of other things to be made choice. Are you sure you want everything to be the choice of the average intelligence American? Just sticking with vehicles, should we allow vehicles to be sold without, head lights, horns, turn signals, air bags, collapsible steering columns, or any of the other of the hundreds of standards required. If left to the manufacturers they wouldn't put brakes on them if they thought they could save money and still sell them. And I am getting tired of what I perceive to be rude bold type, and your insinuating I'm either a democrat or socialist or both. I volunteered for military service during the end of Nam, and tried to go back in during Desert Storm, but they weren't taking anyone over 30 back in then. I believe I have earned the right to express my opinion without being insulted. I wonder if you would have made that reference were we talking in person. And just for the record, I am neither Republican nor Democrat, I will not align myself with of those lying, cheating, money grubbing, organizations.

Bogus argument, more like 1%, and then again ONLY on clean dry pavement. When is the last time you saw clean dry pavement not on a race track? It has been proven that even top professional racers cannot stop as fast and keep the bike in two wheels as well as ABS in less than optimum conditions. But even given that one in a million chance a person could have stopped better without ABS, so what. It is still safer overall for most people.

Do you have a back rest, I have not had any issues since I added mine. And I rarely actually rest against it, but it being there makes me sit up straight. I found that without it I slouch and that caused pain in my back.
-
Yes it has been proven that a very skilled rider, with race experience and on clean dry pavement can stop harder without ABS. I'll bet you you can't!!! I have no problem with ABS on any pavement only bike. For dual sports and off road bikes, only if they have an off switch.

The witnesses had speed calibrated eyes? More than 90% of all stopping power on sportbikes is from the front and they can stop faster than virtually any cruiser at the same speed using only the front brake. Getting the rear wheel up is not hard to do on modern sportbikes. If you are stopping the bike to its ability you virtually have to have no weight or traction on the rear wheel. If the cager was convicted, I have to assume there was evidence that showed the bike was too close and he shouldn't have pulled out even if the bike had been doing the speed limit. For the most part, police, courts, and insurance companies are biased against sport bikes, If there was anyway to pin it in the sport biker, I'm sure they would have. I got a reckless driving ticket several years ago while riding what the police perceived as a sport bike because I accelerated from a stop light quickly and ran the bike briskly through 3 gears. They said they didn't get a radar gun on me but KNEW I was doing at least 90mph in a 55mph zone. But I was riding a Kaw Zr7S, 25 year old, air cooled 750cc engine technology. It produced all of about 60 some horse, and could not get to 90 in 3rd gear at WOT, no way I was going over 70mph. 15 over, big whoop, I see semis doing 80 in 65 zones and not even getting stopped all the time. But it was bright yellow and looked like a sport bike. I even got a lecture that an old fart like me should be riding a Goldwing. I didn't bother to tell him that with 118hp, the Wing would out perform my ZR, and could actually get to 90 in 3rd gear. Why bother, some people just don't need any facts to make a judgment and be sure they are right.

Great post, except the mention about the Cheese book. And I think you mean "Who Moved My Cheese?" "Where's My Cheese?" is a kids book.

I don't see why, I don't find working on FI systems any harder than Carbs, just different.

Thomas Jefferson said a lot of things, "And the day will come, when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the Supreme Being as His Father, in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva, in the brain of Jupiter." "He who knows nothing is closer to the truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors. " "Of liberty I would say that, in the whole plenitude of its extent, it is unobstructed action according to our will. But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add “within the limits of the law,” because law is often but the tyrant’s will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual." "I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature. " "I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty and those attending too small a degree of it." all Thomas Jefferson

Not sure the rating or load capacity will make any difference in longevity, but I firmly believe that higher load capacity is always better and safer on a heavy bikes like these.
