Hi All Has anyone compared the smoothness in ride of the RSV or the RSTD to a VTX 1800, If some can you describe the two bikes in ride smoothness. Thanks Vince -
I finally got a trike "AGAIN" This is my 3rd Honda trike but my first 1800. It has everything a bike could possibly have EXCEPT a CB. So, probably won't do a whole lot of good but does anybody know of a complete CB w/antenna and all of the wiring that might be available ? I've looked on ebay and the prices are what I would expect but looking for something slightly less than 1K Not only the purchase - I haven't a clue about how/where to install it. I see that the bike already has controls on the handle bar so I'm guessing that the unit will be hidden somewhere under the massive amount of plastic.

We have done Bike Week in 05, Biketoberfest in 2010 and are thinking about going again this October. In the past we have tried to connect with other VTX owners, which is what we were ridding then. We now have a 07 RSTS and would like to meet others with like bikes for swapping ideas, maintenance procedures and mod's. It was always difficult to get very many VTX's together at one time. I'm not sure why it was so difficult, I think many riders ride with their friends regardless of what they ride rather than a group of like brand bikes. Anyhow as time goes on and there is interest of getting together lets share cell numbers and where we all will be staying. Below is the evolution of what I have ridden since moving to Florida, 01 Shadow, 03 VTX 1800, back surgery, hip replacement, 06 Yamaha Majesty scooter, 04 HD 1200 Trike (I built and hated it), 03 VTX 1800 and now the 07 RSTD. Funny how our minds work, my wife got going on this thinking it would be a nice treat for me. Yesterday I asked her "so you are excited about going back to Daytona?" She answered me with "I thought it would be something you would really like to do". I told her I was thinking of some place new for a fall trip. Now we are thinking of going to the Upper Keys or Tarpon Springs area. Sorry if this was misleading to anyone.

Hi all I rode a 1800 wing to Big Toms rally last weekend. What a nice ride. I see there is a 1990 1500 wing localy with about 30000 miles on it. Just woundering anything I should look for and is the power from a 1800 to a 1500 a lot? Also is the ride about the same as far as leg room and comfort? Thanks Bull463

We made it home today after a great week in Lake George NY. Burned a few tanks of gas riding the back roads in the area. It was really hot for most of the week and rained all day Saturday. We tried out a Victory Cross Country and a Honda GL 1800 trike and just missed getting to ride a Can-Am Spider. Saw lots of RSV's in and around the area while we were there.

My 2001 speedometer was out by about 10 kilometers per hour. Now that I have a 2004 RSV I checked it with my GPS and it is also out by 10 per cent as well. It is 10 percent below what is indicated on the gauge. Has Yamaha not addressed this or is there a fix for this other than just accepting it and adjusting accordingly? My 1800 Wing was always dead on with the GPS. Thanks for any comments or advice. Chris

Guess only way to do it is try. Not sure I would be willing to be a guinea pig though. Some Venture folks swap out Venture gears for VMAX gears. Some folks swap out VTX1300 gears for 1800. Wonder if it would work to swap out Venture gears for say 1800 gears.

Greetings... 89VR Just synced the carbs (using my $3.50 homemade mamometer) this morning. Starts very easily. Idles perfectly like a bumblebee at just under 1000. Accelerates wonderfully (after the chuffing stops anyway). Sounds like it's in the airbox - and not in the mufflers. In fact - all in all - other than this annoying low rpm backfiring - it runs perfectly... It only happens in first gear, usually on a slight hill. It will not happen if I open the throttle very very slowly and ease it up to over 1800 rpm, at which point I can rocket it if I want. But If I try to beat the next light - It will POP POP POP until it reaches about 1800 - 2500 or so... I'm thinking it might just be bad gas - as I did fill up last night, and did the sync this morning, and it's been happening all day. But anyway - I'm really wondering just exactly what causes backfire on ACCELERATION - it does NOT backfire at all on decel... Timing? But If it were timing, I would think I would have other problems too... I plan to switch out the plugs tomorrow morning, and possibly all the filters too if I can find the cash. So maybe all the running around town will let me get a new tank of fuel from another source in and see if that's all it is... And yes - she's already guzzled 2 cans of seafoam in the last few months - Fwew! The Price of that stuff has doubled in the last year!!
