Does anyone have a billet clutch cover installed?
M61A1MECH replied to roadwarrior's topic in Watering Hole
There is also a cover that goes on the left side of the bike to replace the rubber cover over the bleeder for the clutch. Sort of rectagular with a quarter circle cut out of one end. Is that the clutch cover you looking at? Where are you looking? If in the Yamaha accesory catalog there should be a part number, that could help the rest of understand what you are looking at. I have the clutch bleeder cover installed on my 07, but do not have a photo of it right now. -
Here are some links to the photos I took, for some reason I could not attach the photos. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSC_0126.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSC_0127.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSC_0128.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSC_0120.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSC_0121.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSC_0122.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSC_0123.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSC_0124.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSC_0125.jpg

What you saw were most likely the mufflers from a Tour Deluxe. The mufflers on the Royal Star Tour Deluxe are different from the mufflers on the Venture. The TD have the removable tips, the Ventures do not. The TD mufflers should fit right on in place of the Venture mufflers, so if you can find a set, with the tips, you can just swap them out.

Just my luck, this was the week the company decided I needed to go to Minnesota for some training. Last Saturday I was riding my Venture at home in Florida in shirt sleeves and all this week I was in the coldest weather in the past 5 years I am glad to be heading South today.

Attached are some pdfs I made from some old Motorcycle Cruiser magazines. There was a fellow over on the Delphi forums that was collecting this sort of information I am pretty sure all of the colors, including the special paint editions done by Jon at Bushtec Trailers is included over on one of the Delphi forums, check the main or front page of the Royal Star or V-4 forums. I will check next time I am over on those sites. The paint colors are listed in the attached articles, you wil just need to wade through them.

According to Kelly Blue Book the average retail value is $12,135.00 for a standard Venture and $12,645.00 for a Midnight Venture, so the price is about right, but it has 5 times the average expected mileage for a 2007. According to Kelly Blue Book the average expected mileage for a 2007 is just over 10,000. Having said that, my 2007 Venture has something over 27,000 miles. It would take considerably more than $12,000 for some to pry it away from me. I would not be concerned about the mileage as much as would the actual condition of the bike and the availabilty of maintance records. If it has been taken care of and serviced on a regular basis it should last a long time and run for 200,000 miles with few problems.

My 07 does the very same thing. I did not notice it until after a set of Metzler tires were installed. I have checked the tires for the dreaded chuncking, did not find any thing on the tires. I jacked up the bike so both wheels were off the ground. I spun both wheels while monitoring the distance between the floor and the tire, expecting to find something out of round, nothing showed up. Tire pressure was checked and it was fine. I am at a loss also, starting to wonder if an out of balance tire would show up at such a slow speed.

Wind Deflector ?
M61A1MECH replied to RonL's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Hey Ron, Those are the ones sold by Yamaha thru their accessories section. Check these vendors, note that Roush offers to beat any advertised internet price, I have challenged them on several items and they are always good to their word. http://www.rickroushaccessories.com/store/product_info.php/cPath/36_332_53/products_id/4827 $149.34 http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/pages/catalogs/detail/26/207/407/3664/1/0/0/1/4/90/69/35535/tinted-lower-wind-vents.aspx $149.96 http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/pages/catalogs/detail/26/207/407/3664/1/0/0/1/4/90/69/35535/tinted-lower-wind-vents.aspx $147.96 http://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/accessories/250/STR-1D608-80-00-250.jpg click on image for larger picturehttp://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/common/blank.gifTinted Lower Wind Ventshttp://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/common/blank.gifhttp://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/common/blank.gifUnique styling complements the fairing lowers. M61A1MECH replied to fast black's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Not sure where you got your info, but my info says the circumference of the earth is 24,902 miles that works out to a little over 10 trips around at the equator, still a lot of traveling.- 37 replies

Air boxes ????????
M61A1MECH replied to Silver Bullet's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It will not do any good to link to STAR web site, if you are not a member you cannot view the forums. If I can figure out how to down size the photo I will post it so it can be opened. or try this link http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/airboxmod.jpg Here is a blurb from the tech section of the VENTURERS web site; http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/index.php?action=article&cat_id=002012&id=211 Air Inlet Hole At the front of the air filter housing, where the air enters, is a 1-1/2" hole behind the D shaped cover. The engine needs air, so I got a Dremmel tool and cut out the opening to match the D shaped cover leaving a small lip for support. It makes a big difference. The small hole from the factory is there to keep the noise level down. I heard no increase in noise, just more power. I did not rejet the carbs or install different mufflers. Yamaha spent millions of dollars in time and R&D to make it run the way it is. This just makes it a little better. -
Air boxes ????????
M61A1MECH replied to Silver Bullet's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just did the air box mod on mine today, did not take any pics, but here is one from the STAR web site. I have not taken it out for a test yet. http://www.startouring.org/forum/thumb.aspx?a=2393&ImageID=2185 -
One of my most favorite hymns, I really like the rendition done by the BLIND BOYS FROM ALABAMA, maybe not to everyone's liking but I like it. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZJ-kLKut9E]YouTube - Blind Boys From Alabama-Amazing Grace[/ame]

I am in Edgewater, just 25 miles south of Daytona and about 50 miles east Leesburg. I ride in the Leesburg (Lake county ) area a lot. Good riding to the south in the Sugarloaf area. Sugarloaf mountain is one of the highest elevations in Florida.

Hey Jack I know there are lots of folks working in Marrietta, but would you know my old buddy Marc Eaton? He has been with you guys as an aircraft electrician since the mid 80's, we worked together in Saudi Arabia for the now defunct McConnell Douglas Services company. Just curious.

4XY-21315-00-00 STAY, ENGINE , is not the part you are looking for, that is the brace that bolts the motor to the frame, often called the dogbone. The part I think you are looking for is shown on the parts diagram in the section under "STAND, FOOTREST", but they do not give the part number for the support. They have an ID number and part number for the entire assembly and all of the parts except the part that the foot rest bolts to and then bolts to the frame. Sorry I could not be more help.

What Brake Modulator do you use?
M61A1MECH replied to jryan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I use the led tail light and modulator from Custom Dynamics http://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm. I spliced the modulator into the pigtail between the board and the plug, mounted the modulator right inside the taillight itself. -
A fellow named Scott Baken over at Star Touring and Riding did that, looks pretty good. Try this link I think it will get you there. http://www.startouring.org/viewimage.aspx?id=3094

Check the idle speed before Carbtune
M61A1MECH replied to Canuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
N3FOL You do not need the adapters at all, those are for other bikes that have threaded test ports. The Venture has has 4 small "nipples" as the test ports, those are covered with either a rubber cover or a small hose (2 of each) . When you remove those covers and hoses you will see the nipples just put your Carbtune hose on those. DO NOT try to remove the nipples, just connect into them. Remember make small adjustments you should not need to be turning the adjustment screws very much, small adjustments wiil make a big difference in the readings. Good Luck -
Check the idle speed before Carbtune
M61A1MECH replied to Canuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When I did mine I just cut the original tubes back the prescribed length for the adapters and used the restrictors supplied to splice them back together. In retrospect I will say that I had problrms with the tubes supplied by Morgan collapsing when they got warm, so I replaced them with vacuum hose from the local auto supply store.Still used the restrictors.
