  1. I saw a White bearded guy riding a GEN1 today on ST RD 44 on the west side of Deland. He had just come thru the intersection and waved at me and the wife on our 07 Blue/Black GEN 2 while waiting for a light to turn green.
  2. If you take that price from Seattle Sports Plaza to Roush Accessories at https://www.rickroushaccessories.com/store/index.php they will beat it. I have done this for several items and Roush always beats the best internet price I can find.
  3. Krome-Werks pipes with turn out tips and a DYNA 3K ignition.
  4. A friend sent this to me , thought it was right on. http://www.month2month.com/resources/swf/Rockin%20Santa%20Final.swf Merry Christmas
  5. I will try to answer the ones I know. I have been riding the Royal Star line of motorcycles for nearly 10 years and have over 110000 miles on them with no major breakdowns or mechanical problems. Never regretted buying either my 98 Royal or my 07 Venture. Except for the fact that I had to get rid of my 98 with 96,000 miles on her to buy the 07. You asked 1. Has there been any significant changes to the Venture for the past 4 years? No no major changes since the first model was introduced in 1999. 2. What is the most common problem with this model, and what is the usual fix? Gear whine and/or "chirp" at certain rpm ranges. Sometime fixed by changing clutch basket. Some folks fiind it more objectional than others. I road an original Royal Star, (similar in mechanical set up) for 9 years and 96,000 miles before purchasing an 07 Venture and have not been bothered by it on either bike. 3. How much additional current is available for items such as heated clothing, GPS etc.? Not sure of the exact number , but many folks have added aditional lights, heated gear, GPS, and other electrical options with no problems. 4. If there was one thing you wish you could do to improve the Venture what would it be? Change the transmission gearing or final drive gear ratio to make it a bit more responsive at lower speeds in the higher gears. But being aware that 4th and 5th are overdrive gears and knowing that the power band is in the 3000 to 6000 rpm range and not being afraid to wind her up you can overcome this issue. Additionally for some money you can put in a final drive from a V-Max and many have reported that makes all the difference. Lastly, this would be an every-day rider (well ok 9-10 months out of the year). Any big maintenance issues to be concerned about outside routine maintenance? No big issues to be concerned about, regular oil and filter changes as well as rear end fluid changes and you are good to go. One thing to remember; this bike has a 5 year unlimited miles warrenty from the factory and you can purchase an additional 2 years extended warrenty if you like at time of purchase. No other manufacturer offers that kind of coverage, not even Honda on the Wing. Good luck with what ever you you decide, but there are some former Wingers on this site, so that should tell you something.
  6. Condor Contact Kuryakyn directly, they have exceptional customer service, I lost a small piece of rubber from my throttle boss once , sent them an email to get the part number and price so I could order it, they sent one to me free. Had a highway peg mount vibrate lose and strip the threads after about 2 years of service, could not find the part I needed unless I purchased a whole set. E-mailed them with a photo of what I was looking for, again asking for part number and price, they sent me one for free. Good Luck
  7. I talked with a Yamaha tech rep when they were at Daytona for Biketoberfest. He acknolwedged that there is a service bulletin out on the 07 Ventures and Tour Deluxe stating that the head bolts on certain VIN numbers may not have been torqued properly. I specifically asked if there would be a RECALL, he said "no" because it was not a safety issue. Not saying that Yamaha has not changed their mind on a recall, but normally recalls are handled by a letter in the mail not a call from the service manager. According to the tech rep at Biketoberfest the suspect bikes are identified in the service bulletin by their VIN and all you need to do is give your VIN number to the dealer and they can look it up and tell you if your bike is a suspect bike or not. Additionally according to the tech rep and folks on other forums that have had this issue , the problem will normally manifest itself as an oil leak. So I would suggest just getting your VIN number to the dealer and see what they say. As far as the noise of the bike and not liking it, well I had a 98 Royal that I put 96000 trouble free miles on it before I bought my 07 Venture. Did the 98 make noise at certian RPMs? You bet, at 55 MPH in 4th it sounded like an F-15 taxing down the runway, did I run at that speed much? No just found a better speed or gear combination. Does my Venture make some noise? Yep, but with AMSOIL it is less than the 98 and after I had the dealer check the drive shaft alignment and the real rear wheel does it "seem" to be better, that could be my imgination, I have no quantitative data. You have a 5 year warrenty, use it, if the bike is unacceptable take it back and have the dealer do what ever it takes to make it as good as it can be. I know that can be tough sometimes. Will this bike ever be as quiet as many bikes on the road? No way, with the straight cut gears, this is a noisy bike, but in my humble opinion it is still one of the best bargins on the road and unless something else comes out that is a heck of a lot better I going to buy another when it comes time to rplace my 07. But thats just me.
  8. And that wasn't just any some one on the other forum , that was me. And I am still confused.
  9. There is a tech bulletin out on the Ventures that deals with the noise in the rear end, normally heard when backing the bike up, this is caused by mis-alignment of the rear end, rear wheel and drive shaft. My 07 started making a whump whump whump sound at slow speeds, though it was the tires, had those changed and the noise was still there and the click when backing up started. Took in to the dealer had them listen to it, they agreed to check the rear end for alignment and check the hub. Once they greased the hub, splines and aligned everything it has been fine. May or may not berelated to your problem, but make sure they they are aware of the tech bulletin on proper alignment technique of the rear end when they reassemble it. The bulletin number is M2005-015.
  10. Brake Pad That is as BOGUUUUS as it gets, Royal line of motorcyles , be it a classic type 1 Royal Star, Venture or Tour Deluxe do not leak any thing. I had a 98 Royal Star with 96,000 miles on it when I sold it and it never leaked a drop of anything. My 07 Venture has not leaked a drop of anything since I picked it up in January. If you have a leak and the dealer sys it is normal, it is time to find a new dealer.
  11. Yes there is a tech bulletin out on the 2007 Ventures, some of them have head bolts that are not torqued correctly. Normally it manifests it self as an oil leak. All you need to do is go to the dealer and ask them to check your VIN against the list on the tech bulletin. Takes about 10 minutes. According to the tech rep I talked to at BIKETOBERFEST in Daytona last week, Yamaha will not be doing a recall, because this is not a safety item. Be prepared to get some funny looks from the service manager when you first ask about this, seem they are not all up to speed on this issue, the local dealer here in Daytona looked very skeptical, but he did check and found that there was a tech bulletin and my bike was not included.
  12. Try this link to Motorcycle Cruiser magazine's technical section. http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/tech/remove_windshield/index.html
  13. I put the shorter shield on mine also, a it more wind buffeting but really not bad, the wife noticed a bit more head buffeting also but is not bad. It is much better if you get caught in the rain, which is pretty common here in Florida. I elected to buy the shorter one so I could save the tall and put it on for winter riding. I have seen an article on cutting down the windshield, I will see if I can find it.
  14. Mark Just a confirmation post that I have your received e-mail stating you will be shipping on the 10th, I sent a few others folks I know your way I hope you were able to do business with them also. Thanks Again
  15. Try the Morgan Carbtune at this web site http://www.carbtune.com/ Very easy to use, reasonablly priced and good folks to deal with. Nothing to spill or wory about sucking up into your bike.
  16. I had mine installed bt Bushtec while they were in town for a rally. On my 98 Royal they used those pinch type taps that slice through the insulation and pinch on the conductor. The ones they use have a spade on the tap and they use a socket on the harness so if you want to remove the harness you just unplug the socket and spade leaving the spade tap on the harness. It is fully insulated so no possibility of shorting anything out. On my 07 Venture they did essentialy the same thing except they ran it through a relay package to protect the electronics on the bike from being harmed.
