  1. Yeh, I was also at the Star B-Q. I saw the V-Max and thought it was awsome. Told the Star guy there I will wait for the motor to be in the new Venture. He hinted something is in the works but would not elaborate. I was the guy who won the Road Kill game. See you in Winchester, Va next year. Will (Star Chapter 165, Delaware)
  2. Go to your Stealership and ask for a package of 4 stroke packing material (cost me about $11.00). I just did a set of Bubs on my Tour Deluxe. You only need (1) package, I beleive it was 11" x 16" x 1" white fiberglass. Drill out the rivets on the end caps, remove end caps and baffles. Cut the packing material in (2) equal pieces, wrap around baffle and hold in place w/ some masking tape. Reinstall baffles, put end caps on w/ new rivet and there you go, quieter pipes. Bub told me that they come w/ no packing at all. By the way, keep an eye on your end caps, the chrome peels easily. They warrant them for up to (1) year. Other than that they sound great. Will
  3. We have the same (2) bikes. Nice Cage.
  4. I was just given a set of Bubs. I removed end caps and pulled the baffle out, repacked the baffle with new fiberglass insulation. Sounds great, the only time you really hear them is when your on the throttle. I put these on my RSTD. Also have a RSV which I just put a set of Road House Slash cuts on. They are louder than the Bubs, put still not anoying. EXHAUST CHOICES (that I am aware of) BUBS (Sleepers or Complete System) Road House (Slash or Fish Tall) Khrome Werks (Slash, Turn Down/Out) Barons (Multiple Options) Harley Road King Muffler Conversion (Special Bracket Required) Samsons I think thats it.
  5. Put Avons on about 9500 Miles ago, looks like there going to make 12 - 14 easy, great luck with mine, wet weather tractions seams way better than the Du-Flops & Brickstones. I'm a believer. Half my miles are two up & half solo.
  6. Yes that is where I got the Idea from (A Harley I saw). I called Bub (A.K.A Rinehart) and asked them if they would make me a set, they replied No! So I did them myself. Thanks for the comments.
  7. I resently was given a set of Bub sleeper slip on mufflers that the chrome tips were pealing badly. Took them to a powder coater who stipped the rest of the chrome (Media blasted) then powder coated them w/ high temp (1000 Deg) black satin. While I had them apart I repacked the baffles w/ 4 stroke packing material. They soung great, not to loud but a nice growl.
  8. Thanks for the info Gary. I took the tips to a powder coater today, said they could remove chrome. I am have them coated with a high temperature black textured. I will let you know how I turns out. Will
  9. I was just given a set of Bub Sleeper Mufflers that are in great shape except for the chrome end caps (Chrome peeling). I have taken them apart and removed the end caps. I have (2) questions. 1) Does anyone know a good way to remove the chrome ? It doesn't look like it was applied correctly in the first place. I am looking to have them powder coated w/ a high temperature black satin finish. I think it will look sharp on my 05 RSTD (Black/Gray). 2) The packing material inside was almost gone, what is the material used ? Can anyone help with this ? Will
  10. We got tired of our Khrome Werks on our 96 RS. Went back to stock. It does get to be way to loud hour after hour on a long trip. Plus I don't get the ear plug & loud pipes thing. If you want loud pipes why do you wear ear plug ???
  11. I have been following these posts about tires for some time. Went to Avons w/ the MT90 8K miles ago on my 05RSTD, Looks like there gonna make a easy 10K. This thing handles great. I am very pleased w/ handling and durability (Bridgestones Sucked). Thanks for your reseach. Just put the Avons on my 06RSV. Maybe next time I will try stock sizes, but I'm happy w/ the smaller tire for now. Thanks again: Will
  12. Salty: Had a 96RS die the same way, started and ran fine in the morning, went out at lunch and it was dead. They will not jump start w/ a dead battery.Battery was 6 year old. Glad to hear you got it taken care of. Will
  13. I'm really glad to here they want to here from some of us on the update of this terrific motorcycle. For me: 1) Leave the style alone (Don't want 1st Gen or Wing Style) 2) Do not convert to V-Twin (Then it would be to much Harley) 3) Fuel Injection would be nice 4) Does not need to be much faster 5) Keep fuel mileage in mind 6) Update Audio System 7) Address Mechanical Issues (Rear, Tires..)
  14. Looks pretty tacky Dave, just kidding !! Bet you don't know who this is.
  15. No, I believe this is taking care of your own. Japan's economy is not doing so well either. I belive the american work ethic is just fine, Honda did just fine here. They are not laying off anyone, just transferring. We need to start doing the same.
