Do you have any of the 5 year warrenty left? Could be a warrenty issue, let the dealer look at getting it replaced with a new one.

Clicking sound
M61A1MECH replied to veep1's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
There have been several posts on this subject, the noise is due to 2 things. Dry splines and mal adjusted drive shaft to rear end. There is a service bulletin out from Yamaha detailing both issues. When my 07 developed it I took it to the dealer to fix on warrenty. As yours is an 06, I would do the same. I rode mine for some time before I took it in and had it adjusted and lubed, I doubt that any real harm is being done, but it should be fixed. good luck -
Hopnel Tuxedo Pouch install

I just put mine down trapped the top under the ignition cowling, I don't think I took the factory tape off the tank, the tail end attached just like the factory bib. Mine has been on for 18 months no problems. What I never have figured is , what do do with those little tabs at the very front, they have velcro like they should attach some where, but I do not see where. -
You have a generation 2 Venture, also called a Royal Star Venture. Welcome to the family. If you look on the left side bar of this web site you should find a Venture history section. You did buy a Yamaha, a few years ago Yamaha decided to declare the "STAR" line of bikes as seperate from their other road bikes. If you go to Yamaha's web site you can see all of the STAR line bikes offered, that should help you understand the differences. The Venture is the the king of the group, best you can get. Good Luck.

Josh You should have no issues pulling a trailer with a Venture. I pull a Bushtec Road Star trailer and have had no issues. Last year I pulled it two up from Daytona Beach, Florida to Chattanoga, TN, this year I pulled it one up form Daytona to Rogers , Arkansas. Previuosly I pulled the same trailer wth a 98 Royal Star Tour Classic for several thousands of miles. I never felt the trailer push me or have any affect on the bike, generally you do not even know it is behind you. Good Luck

Where to get factory parts?
M61A1MECH replied to spingley's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Try South Seattle Sports Plaza at this website http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/ they sell part sand accessories at very good prices. -
Randy A Hey thanks, that will teach me to pay attention to the details. Sorry for the confusion.
-
Thom When did you come over to the 2nd gen side? And what's up with that Indiana flag on your signature? If you go to the Yamaha STAR web site and sign up on the MY STAR section you can down load a PDF copy of the owners manual and look up the parts break down also. Good luck with that 2nd Gen, what color did you get?

What I did was to take some rubber spacers that you can buy at PEP Boys for puting between coil springs in a car. I reshaped the original bumpers to fit the bars with the risers installed, then cut down the coil spring spacer to fit between the top of the tripple tree and the bottom of the reshaped fairing bumper. Fitted a strap of aluminum to the two of them with SS deck screws. The aluminum strap and the screws are painted black and when they are installed you really can not see them. The fairng does not bounce. The links below should take you to some pictures. Not perfect but very functional. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSCN0415.jpg http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/?action=view¤t=DSCN0416.jpg

Hey Walt I have bought from him before, but when he was down off US1 south of Edgewater, always has a good stock of lumber. If you need any help with the carbtune just let me know, I am right in Florida Shores just a few miles from Chimpmonks.
-
Walt I am in Edgewater, about 25 miles south of Daytona, My carb tune is available. Once this storm blows over maybe we can hook up and I can let you have a look at how it works.
-
I doubt that synching the carbs will help that issue, sounds more like low octane gas or something like a bit of carbon in one or more or the cylinders that is staying hot enough to ignite the fuel air mixture before the plug fires. Try some higher octane fuel for a tank to see if the problem goes away. Could be a fouled plug, maybe, have you pulled them? I would be glad to offer the services of my carbtune, but I doubt I can can get down towards Kissimmee before next weekend, with work and the storm on the way.

The KROMEWERKS that fit a Venture should fit the Tour Deluxe. This link will get you to Sons of Thunder Metric Cycles, they have the best price I could find. http://www.sotmc.com/index.php?cPath=27. I have them on my 07 Venture and think they look good and sound good with out being obnoxiuos or deafing. One nice thing about the KROMEWERKS is they make a couple of different tips that you can swap out if you want.

I woukd also suggest that anyone looking for accesories check this web site https://www.rickroushaccessories.com/store/index.php, they advertise that they will beat any advertised internet price. Some times they are lower some times not, but I have challeneged them on lower pricing and they have always beat the best price I could find on the net.

I doubt very much that the rotors are stainless steel, but you could try a quick test to find out. Take a magnet and see if it sticks to the rotor, if it does then the rotor is not Stainless.

I am not close enough for you to try a short ride, but I will tell you that after much deliberation I finally went and bought set for the wife. She loves them, she has back and neck problems and had been riding less and less with me because she needed to be able to shift her legs around to get comfortble. The passenger pegs did the trick, she is still not riding as much as she used to do, but more than before I put the pegs on for her. Hope that helps.

WIKD I cannot speak to the Motion Pro, but I can say I have the Morgan carb tune and it is a great piece for the tool kit. One thing the Morgan does not have any fluid in it to worrry about. I am sure the Motion would work fine.

The head bolt torquing (or lack of) issue normally results in some oil leaks around the head area, I hav enot heard of any performance issues related to it. Your dealer should be able to tell you if you bike is affected just by checking the VIN against the list from Yamaha.
-
Make sure the little locking arm on the left side is still in place, the screws on mine came loose and fell out, would not stay up and once did not want to open.

Well here is what I did when I finally made up my it was time to step up from my 98 TC to a Venture. I checked all the local dealers, I am lucky to have 5 or so within a 60 mile radius, knew what they had and what they were asking. I had been keeping a real close eye on Cycle Trader watching for deals on slightly used and new Ventures. Found one about 250 miles south for $2500.00 below MSRP, my research convinced me that was just about what the markup is from dealer cost to MSRP. I contacted the dealer via email to make sure it was a new bike. Once that was established I requested his best out the door price, which they sent me in a return email. Just so happened that one of the local dealers (25 miles from the house) had a Blue/Black 07 on their sales floor for the past month or so. I sent them an email with a copy of the written offer from the other dealer, telling them I was buying a Venture that week and would rather keep my business in town, and could they match that price. Offer came back with in $50.00, figured I could not make the trip to the other dealer for $50.00 so I bought it the next day and picked it up the following Saturday. The keys are research, know what is available and what you are willing to pay. I maybe could have gotten a better deal, but it was the price I had figured I would have to pay and there was no messing around at the dealer dickering with the saleman or the money guy.

Jerry I would bet that you have lost all of the oil, that's why it is not leaking any more. As I said in my reply email, I would think that with a high air pressure in the shock with no oil you could get a pogo stick affect, where as with a low pressure charge you would still get some dampening, but the shock may bottom out on hard bumps. Keep us posted on your progress.

Squealing and grinding front brakes are pretty common on these bike. I have heard some say all you need to do is a couple of hard stops using the front brakes to break the glaze and set them. I must not have done it right because that did not work for me. I did take the calipers off and pull the pads, applied some anti-squeal product that I picked up at the local autoparts store. Worked very well, now I only get the squeal once in while normally if I been in traffic and they heated up. Good Luck

Hey Jerry Over on the STAR forum there was a guy who just triked his venture and was selling the left overs. I do not remember if he had a shock or not , but it worth checking into it. Or you just may find a bit of help over there also, if you post your problem there.
