I doubt that synching the carbs will help that issue, sounds more like low octane gas or something like a bit of carbon in one or more or the cylinders that is staying hot enough to ignite the fuel air mixture before the plug fires. Try some higher octane fuel for a tank to see if the problem goes away. Could be a fouled plug, maybe, have you pulled them? I would be glad to offer the services of my carbtune, but I doubt I can can get down towards Kissimmee before next weekend, with work and the storm on the way.

The KROMEWERKS that fit a Venture should fit the Tour Deluxe. This link will get you to Sons of Thunder Metric Cycles, they have the best price I could find. http://www.sotmc.com/index.php?cPath=27. I have them on my 07 Venture and think they look good and sound good with out being obnoxiuos or deafing. One nice thing about the KROMEWERKS is they make a couple of different tips that you can swap out if you want.

I woukd also suggest that anyone looking for accesories check this web site https://www.rickroushaccessories.com/store/index.php, they advertise that they will beat any advertised internet price. Some times they are lower some times not, but I have challeneged them on lower pricing and they have always beat the best price I could find on the net.

I doubt very much that the rotors are stainless steel, but you could try a quick test to find out. Take a magnet and see if it sticks to the rotor, if it does then the rotor is not Stainless.

I am not close enough for you to try a short ride, but I will tell you that after much deliberation I finally went and bought set for the wife. She loves them, she has back and neck problems and had been riding less and less with me because she needed to be able to shift her legs around to get comfortble. The passenger pegs did the trick, she is still not riding as much as she used to do, but more than before I put the pegs on for her. Hope that helps.

WIKD I cannot speak to the Motion Pro, but I can say I have the Morgan carb tune and it is a great piece for the tool kit. One thing the Morgan does not have any fluid in it to worrry about. I am sure the Motion would work fine.

The head bolt torquing (or lack of) issue normally results in some oil leaks around the head area, I hav enot heard of any performance issues related to it. Your dealer should be able to tell you if you bike is affected just by checking the VIN against the list from Yamaha.

Make sure the little locking arm on the left side is still in place, the screws on mine came loose and fell out, would not stay up and once did not want to open.

Well here is what I did when I finally made up my it was time to step up from my 98 TC to a Venture. I checked all the local dealers, I am lucky to have 5 or so within a 60 mile radius, knew what they had and what they were asking. I had been keeping a real close eye on Cycle Trader watching for deals on slightly used and new Ventures. Found one about 250 miles south for $2500.00 below MSRP, my research convinced me that was just about what the markup is from dealer cost to MSRP. I contacted the dealer via email to make sure it was a new bike. Once that was established I requested his best out the door price, which they sent me in a return email. Just so happened that one of the local dealers (25 miles from the house) had a Blue/Black 07 on their sales floor for the past month or so. I sent them an email with a copy of the written offer from the other dealer, telling them I was buying a Venture that week and would rather keep my business in town, and could they match that price. Offer came back with in $50.00, figured I could not make the trip to the other dealer for $50.00 so I bought it the next day and picked it up the following Saturday. The keys are research, know what is available and what you are willing to pay. I maybe could have gotten a better deal, but it was the price I had figured I would have to pay and there was no messing around at the dealer dickering with the saleman or the money guy.

Jerry I would bet that you have lost all of the oil, that's why it is not leaking any more. As I said in my reply email, I would think that with a high air pressure in the shock with no oil you could get a pogo stick affect, where as with a low pressure charge you would still get some dampening, but the shock may bottom out on hard bumps. Keep us posted on your progress.

Squealing and grinding front brakes are pretty common on these bike. I have heard some say all you need to do is a couple of hard stops using the front brakes to break the glaze and set them. I must not have done it right because that did not work for me. I did take the calipers off and pull the pads, applied some anti-squeal product that I picked up at the local autoparts store. Worked very well, now I only get the squeal once in while normally if I been in traffic and they heated up. Good Luck

Hey Jerry Over on the STAR forum there was a guy who just triked his venture and was selling the left overs. I do not remember if he had a shock or not , but it worth checking into it. Or you just may find a bit of help over there also, if you post your problem there.

When I bought mine the best price I could find was Sons of Thunder Metric Cycles. Try the link below. http://www.sotmc.com/index.php

I second the vote for Krome-Werks, got them on my 07 Blue/Black and really like them.

I have Krome-Werks slip-ons on my 07 Venture Sound good, not obnoxiusly loud but loud enough to be heard. Got mine from Sons of Thunder Metric Cycles, best price I could find on the net and free shipping (at least here in the states any way). One thing I like about them is you can select the tips you want or change the tips later if you want. There is an almost new set of these for sale over on the Delphi forums I think.

No adjustment except the fluid level. Have you checked the fluid level? Could be it is low and you have gotten some air in the system, if so you will need to bleed it to get the air out. Could be the fluid got contaminated with moisture which could make it less effective than it should be.

I second the motion on Brooksville for some of the best riding in the central Forida area. North of B'ville and east on I think 476 is good. East of B'ville and then south thru Spring Lake and over to Dade City is some of the best. Watch for sport bikes and cops in the Spring lake area. You may want to look at the Sugar Loaf area just south of Leesburg, that is pretty respectable also.

Help with light bar
M61A1MECH replied to Mariner Fan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Bob Here is a write up I did for the STAR Touring web site on how I installed my light bar. Signal Dynamics light bar install 1. Remove the driver and passenger seats. 2. Splice wires to each of the leads from the light bar using inline splices wrap each splice with electrical tape or cover with heat shrink. 3. Wrap the wires with spiral wrap or other type of chaff protection. 4. Remove the two rear facing plastic rivets that are holding the rubber covers to the helmet locks. 5. Attach the light bar to the helmet lock mounts using spacers (.70" diameter and .90" long), 10-32 screws, nuts, lock washers and washers. You may need to open up the mount holes of the light bar slightly to accept the 10-32 screws. Tighten securely 6. Route the harness between the under side of the trunk and the “black box” leaving approximately 12 inches of slack. 7. Coil the slack under the trunk and secure with tie wraps. 8. Route the wire harness along the top of the rear fender with the existing harnesses. 9. On the left side of the seat pan area there is a rubber grommet, cut an “X” in the grommet to route the wires through the grommet. 10. In the area under the driver’s seat locate the white connector that contains the rear turn, running and brake lights. 11. Connect the wires from the light bar as follows. a. White to ground or battery negative. b. Green (high) to the yellow wire (brake light) c. Brown (low) to the Blue (tail light) 12. Turn on the key, check for operation of the light bar. 13. Replace the passenger and driver seat. Signal Dynamics 15" light bar http://www.startouring.org/images/member_images/10785/tDSCN0361.JPGhttp://www.startouring.org/images/member_images/10785/tDSCN0368.JPG installed Light bar and tail light as brake light -

My 07 does the same thing, first few 20 or 30 seconds after a prolonged cool down. Clatters on the front right, then quiets right down, thought maybe a valve shim was just on the loose side maybe and as she warms up the gap is taken up. The idea of the right front getting oil last is a good theory, also that is the high point on the engine so the oil will naturally drain from there more than from some other locations. Funny I had a 98 Royal Tour Classic for 9+ years and never noticed it on that one.

Check out the link to Yamaha STAR motorcycles, could it be the new V-MAX is ready to finally arrive. If that is the case could a new Venture be far behind? http://www.starmotorcycles.com/

Hopnel makes one, see the picture below, I have this on my Venture , holds sunglasses, kickstand plate with no problem. I did have a hard time finding this model on line, I was able to pick one up here in Daytona at J&P cycles during bike week a few years ago. http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/vstreet/BBP_Y60_101BK.jpg

I noticed a Nickel size spot of oil under the Venture about a week ago, at first I thought it was just a drip from the oil breather tube, but when I looked closer I found a large drop of oil on the lower arm of the rear shock. The entire lower attach point was wet with oil and there was oil under the dust cover boot. Bike is about 16 months old and only has 19,000 miles, so I was surprised (maybe not the right word), anyway took it to the dealer today, they said it was leaking profusely and would cover it on warrenty, shock should be in by end of next week and installed next Saturday. Boo for Venture rear shocks, Yeah for 5 year warrenty and good dealer service department. Keep an eye on yours, mine is not the first one to have this problem.
