  1. Hey thanks Midnight I think that this is the one that I saw. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out the measurements! Jos
  2. Hello everyone, years ago someone posted plans on how to maked a hitch for the 2nd generation Venture. I've searched everywhere but the right where and can't find them, can anyone help me out thanks Josh
  3. I remember my early years of riding bikes on Cape Cod. It seems like a long time ago but I knew every bike in the surrounding towns so of course I waved because I probably knew them. In high school we all knew who was getting what kind of bike the following week and also knew the older guys who were already out of school who had theirs and whose father owned what kind. I think waving is you own right, to or not to as the saying goes "you decide"! Don' get all huffy about it. Joshua
  4. I can tell you this about the Vineyard, its crowded!!!! I'm from Falmouth (now living in Vermont). I have a sister that lives on the Vineyard and we ride the bike down to see her once a year. If you go over it is expensive so be prepared! The Island is really beautiful but it is geared towards the tourist. Speed limits are low because of the narrow streets and congestion in the towns. I've always felt welcomed by the islanders when I went over from the main land, we used to go to "A ride to the Rock", which was a Harley only party. If you go try April and May or September and the first week of October, its a lot less crowded. I don't know about the camping try the Chamber of Commerce. Falmouth has two campgrounds one is about ten miles from Woods Hole and the other is in Sippewisett and thats only about six miles. You could also leave the bike on the main land and take the Island Queen over from Falmouth. If you go be drive slow and leave the loud pipes at home. They do frown on them over there. Josh
  5. I learned of this "new Old thing" at my HOG meeting. Seems that a friend of a member was stopped for some other reason and this infraction was added to his list of offenses. After the meeting an officer of our chapter contacted the state police and it turns out the law was done away within July of 09!!! Apparently the officer who ticketed the guy didn't know that!! So the guy will fight this one in court and of course have that charge dropped. I had seen this law two years ago so I knew about it but never did anything about it till now. So no worries about coming to Vermont after all. The thing about the sideways license plate is still in effect though, I quess the police can't turn their heads to look at your plate!!! On another note, there is a big apple pie festival in the town of Dummerston in October that draws about two hundred plus bikes! Pie is excellant!!! Joshua
  6. Just wanted to let everyone who doesn't know this about some old Vermont motorcycles laws. The State Police are now stopping people and checking to see if they have at least four square inches of reflective material on their helmets, this one has been on the books for awhile. I'm not sure of the fine but any fine is too much. The other law is about your license plate, it has to be horizontal and not vertical. I went to get my Hardtail inspected and had to turn my plate around, The guys at the shop were only doing their job. This one again could've cost me some money never mind points! The Killington Classic is coming up soon and the rumor is the State Police will have a "motorcycle checkpoint" close by, same thing as Americade! Don't give them the chance to tag you!! Joshua
  7. Hi everyone, I just got back from Americade! I've never seen so many Ventures in one place, I know that I must've seen at least twenty differant ones by Wednesday morning. I have a couple of questions about some items that I saw on some of them. There was a cream colored two tone that had MM Edition on its tank and tour pak, what does that mean? This bike also had a set of cool wind deflectors mounted to the high way bars(crashbars), I saw an 07 with the same set up. The 07 had wrap around lights around the saddle bags like an older Gold Wing or Harley might have. I think the 07 had every available add on you could get on his bike(it was parked down by the demo area on Tuesday night). I saw a few other bikes with these lights also, anything to help with being seen is good. Only got to talk with one other owner and he had the Black and Cherry edition, he had Bub Exhausts on it and it sounded good. I think my wife was getting a little annoyed at me for pointing out the Ventures as they drove by or were parked in the parking spaces on main street. I think she felt as if she was in a VW commercial. One thing that did bother me while I was downtown was the loud pipes!! I can see why a lot of the towns people get up in arms about the noise. Some of the guys would come off the red light heading up hill just like a quarter mile. If you were walking in that area you couldn't hear the person next to you. There was no police presence in that area checking pipes, maybe by the end of the week there will be. I sound kinda like an old fart don't I!!!! Joshua
  8. Hi, I'ld go for a bag also Joshua
  9. thanks jonesy, I was at the Springfeild show a few weeks ago and there was a guy in the second building passing out the flyers. My wife said "hey that sounds like fun" so we'll be going. I plan on heading down to the one in Hebron, Conn. in August also. This one is supposed to be a smaller one. I'm buying a 76 Kawasaki 750 within the next week and I'm sure I'll be needing parts take care josh
  10. Hello out there in winter wonder land I'm planning a trip in June to Rhineback, N.Y. and I'ld like to find a campground to the north of Rhineback as I am coming in from the Vermont side. There is a really big Antique Motorcycle Meet going on for three days and I don't want to stay in a local hotel. Have any of you ever stayed in this area? thanks, Josh
  11. Hey guys, thanks for the info! I ended up buying Eck's, looks like I lucked out, to bad JC Whitney can't come thru, these are nice looking on the bikes. Josh
  12. Hi Eck, I'm interested in the trunk cover, I sent yopu a message. I'm not sure if I did it right though. Josh
  13. Hello everyone, I'm looking for a tour pak bib for my 07. JC Whitney used to carry a nice one but don't any longer. I don't want the leather cover, just the bib style. thanks, Josh
  14. Hey! Wanted to let everyone know that the Vermont Apple Pie Festival is this Sunday in Dummerston, Vermont. Usually about three hundred or so bikes show up. Great pie!!!!!! Josh
  15. Last weekend my wife and I rode the Venture down to Cape Cod for the weekend. Not a long trip, just under two hundred miles. While we we stuck in traffice waiting to go over the Bourne Bridge we would have numerous cagers roll by and say what a nice looking bike we were on. Some were a little confused because my wife had her Harley leathers on and I had a mesh Yamamha jacket on. My wife would have to explain to them that for the long miles this was the bike to be on ( I agree) We went over to Martha"s Vineyard for the day and while there the same thing would happen, everyone asked what kind of bike the Venture is. While waiting for the boat trip home all the bikes go to a certain part of the dock to wait. There were six differant bikes waiting also for the return trip most Harleys. The riders were all my age (60) and were the nicest people going. Not one of the HD pilots had a negative thing to say about me or the Venture, they wanted to know all about it because they had never seen one in person. Of course I told them all the great things!!! Some were impressed!! As we know all HD riders are not idots or a$$e$ but we have to have patience and ride with them all. Just smile and stay safe! Josh
