  1. You can download a PDF version from the Yamaha web site, I just checked my owners manual that came with mt 07, it agrees with the web version. Curious that the factory shop manual also says 8K oil and filter change. 8K sounds like a lot of miles for regular DINO oil.
  2. I pull a Bushtec Roadstar and really like it. I have never pulled any other type of trailer with a bike , so I have no way to say if it is any better than another, but it really does pull well and is very stable. There are a couple of used Bushtec trailers on the Bushtec website, go to the forum section and check it out. Sometimes you can find a deal from Bushtec if you catch them at an event, I picked mine up at an event in Daytona, it was a demo unit they wanted to move, got for about a grand off list price. Another nice thing about the Bushtec is the hitch and the way it mounts to the Royalstar models. They just replace the center stay that connects the stays under the bags with a new piece that has the hitch pin welded on to it. Good luck with what ever you decide.
  3. The owner's manual I downloaded from Yamaha says; Change oil & filter @ 600 miles, then change oil @ 4000 miles and the filter @ 8,000 miles and repeat the 4K & 8K routine. My normal routine with regular oil is to change oil and filter every 3K to 4 K, when I switched to AMSOIL I decided that I would maintain the 3k filter change , but take advantage of the longer life of the synthetic oil and change it at 6K.
  4. The link is not working.
  5. Only way to know for sure is take it in and ask. Do not be surprized if they say no it is not covered, if they say no, ask why nicely.
  6. Had one on my 98TC for 8.5 years, it was the first addition I made to my 07 Venture, would not ride with out it. Very easy to install, resize two holes, do put a block of wood or rubber between the seat pan and the fender when resizing the hole, in case the drill bit grabs and heads south for the fender.
  7. Crawl under the bike and look at the rear shock, could be just an over filled crankcse also. If the shock is shot there will be oil under the rubber boot, Have the original owner get that taken care of before you purchase. It will be covered umder the 5 year warenty, but I bet the original owner will get better service from the dealer than the second owner, and why should you go thru the hassel of that anyway. My 07 is the same color, get a lot of compliments on it, even from the Harley guys.
  8. I been running AMSOIL in my 07 Venture, started at about 2500 miles, I change the filter every 3,000 miles and change the oil ever 6,000 miles. I have 30,000 miles on it now and no issues.
  9. I switch to boxers when I have a long ride planned. The beaded seats and sheep skins have had favorable wrtie ups to help with this problem.
  10. I was thinking maybe sometime after summer, when the weather starts to get bearable again, gest plenty hot in the interior of the state during July. We will see. I will try the picture trick, I tried to do it a differnet way thru the "manage attachments" section below and it puked on me.
  11. I think the next M&E for Florida should be in the heart of the state where the riding is the best. South of Leesburg around Sugarloaf or over in Hernando/Pasco county someplace. Could turn into an overnighter for some, but a small price for some very good riding. But tha's just me. It was great meeting everyone and we definatly need to do it someplace again.
  12. Had a great time at the meet and eat, met a lot of new folks and renwed some old ones. Found out that Al does not how work a camera and I learned that if you turn off the kill switch the bike will not start . Lets do it again one day Here are some links to some pics. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/RIDES/DSC_0234.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/RIDES/DSC_0232.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/RIDES/DSC_0230.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/RIDES/DSC_0228.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/RIDES/DSC_0227.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/RIDES/DSC_0226.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/RIDES/DSC_0225.jpg
  13. Didn't find any records for my last name either, maybe I am not really here, or my parents lied to me about my real name.
  14. Jerry Just a point of clarification. The 98 to 01 Tour Deluxe had Hard Bags, the leather slant bags for those years came on the Tour Classic, both were set up with 4 x 2 pipes. marino420td: here is a picture of the slant bags that came on my 98 Royal Star Tour Classic http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSCN0311.jpg
  15. Ruffy There is a Dairy Queen south in New Symnra Beach, (NSB) I could lead the way on a nice short loop out west of NSBand end up at the DQ. There is a lot more seating there (all outside). Just a thought.
  16. It may depend on which slant bags you purchased. If you got the ones that came on bikes from 98 to 01 they will not fit on a bike with 4 x 4 pipes.
  17. Try this
  18. I actually had to quit twice, first time I quit a 2 pack a day habit for about 12 years, got divorced and stupid :doh:started up again. Quit again about 3 years later , that was in 1987. Never looked back after the second time, never had the urge to start again. Quit cold turkey both times.
  19. I used Longhorn offest cruise peg mounts P/N 7980 on my 07 Venture, they have 1" quick clamps and work just fine. Try this link http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/IMID/460
  20. Jerry I needed the same thing a few years back and managed to get one from a car audio place. I purchased a C-BUS cable part number CCA-329-500, it is a 5 meter cable, so there was some slack to store in the fairing but no real problem. The only issue was that the factory cable has a rubber boot on the fairing end to keep water out and this cable does not. I was able to make a suitable boot from a rubber cap I had and then just wrapped the connection in a plastic bag to ensure that it was water proof. Cost was around $70.00 off the shelf, i seem to remember finding one on the internet for around $40.00 but did not want to wait for it to arrive. Hope this helps
  21. You did not say what speed or gear you are in when you notice the vibrations. Remember that both 4th and 5th gears are overdrive. If you are tooling around in 5th gear at 50 or 60 mph and try to accelerate hard you going to get some vibrations, because the engine is being lugged down. It may be that you need to do a carb synch, that often helps and out of synch carbs can cause engine vibrations. You can not ride a Royal Star like a V-twin, they really like to stay up in the higher RPM ranges. If you don't believe me, try twisting the throttle real hard one time while you are in 3rd gear, just remember to shift some where around 90 mph. ride safe, keep us posted.
  22. We get leaves changing color, you just have to wait until January, when the get brown and fall off.
  23. I am running Kromewerks on my 07, very nice sound, not overly loud, but will sound off if you romp on it. Pretty sure you can get Kromewerks thru Barons, the 4x2x4 that I have heard were obnoxiuosly loud, but I do not know if the guy had baffles in them or not.
  24. 98 Tour Classics have a history of ignition switches going bad. The placement of the ignition switch just behind the radiator coupled with the heat generated by the current passing thru the ignition switch caused many to fail or become intermitent when hot. There is supposed to be an upgraded switch available from Yamaha, but no guaranty that there are any left in stock.
  25. Send an email to Frank over in Naples, he is the president of the STAR (Star Touring And Rinding) chapter in Naples, he may know if anything is planned for that weekend or if anyone over there wants to get together and ride. mailto:frank100@comcast.net
