1. Ok I haven't been riding the bike since I fell off a ladder the 1st of last month and broke my hip. Doc says no walking, wheel chair or toe touch walker only. What a pisser. Any how one of my favorite things is taking pictures when riding. So I had the camera along the other day on the return from the Doc's. I got a lot of shots of this guy when we stopped at Starbucks for some coffee. Mike Red Tail Hawk on Light Post
2. Adjuster needs parts. :rotf: Mike
3. PDF sent. Mike
4. Wayne Usually the antenna will affect transmitting far more than receiving. It sounds like you have a bad connection possibly on pins 12 or 13 of the round plug. Be sure to check grounds. I have the service manual on PDF. If you want a copy you can pm me your e-mail and I will send it to you. Mike
5. Can you hear your radio and cassette ok? Does the tx indicator on the controller go off and the rec come on ? Mike
6. Glad you are able to walk away. I agree with Miles. That looks like quite a debris field behind the car. Were you pushed backward that far? Is that coolant from your bike? The car seems to be leaning heavily to it's left indicating some damage. Whew it looks like things could easily have been a lot worse. Again glad you are able to talk about it. Mike
7. That is true. Higher octane fuel burns slower, is harder to ignite, and is less explosive (ping). It only helps engines designed to run on it. Usually higher compression, advanced cam timing, advanced ignition timing etc. Since high octane fuel burns slower if the ignition does not start sooner all of the fuel in the cylinder will not be burned before the power cycle is over. Negating any advantage that might have been possible. Using high octane serves no useful purpose in the Royal Star since it's engine is not designed to take advantage of it. Back in the 60's when I lived in Montana in the winter we would switch from premium to regular gas to help our cars start during those really cold snaps. Many lawn mowers will not even start or run with premium gas. You know the old 100+ octane stuff. Many modern cars with fuel injection use knock sensors to constantly adjust ignition timing to the fuel in the car. Mike
8. Great post. I think I will put in a small rheostat so I can adjust the blink rate. Mike
9. Retirement takes practice practice practice. Now I don't know how I ever had time to work. Mike
10. Just in case people forget, there are Amazing soldiers standing at the Tomb through this craziness. This a picture from this morning.

12. WHOA. There are two chrome rings. The large outer one with the screw on the bottom is part of the fairing. It does not come off by itself. So don't try to remove it. The screw is part of what holds the outer fairing in place. The second is a retaining ring on the light assembly itself under the fairing. To put your visor back on first remove the outer fairing. Then loosen the screws that hold the stainless steel retaining ring to the light assembly. Once loosened you should be able to tuck the visor under. Failing that, remove and reinstall the retaining ring with the visor tucked under. Mike
13. Hi George I don't know which brand is best but some parts books have incorrectly listed the front and rear pads with the same part number. So just keep your eyes open and make sure you get the right pads. Mike
14. I tend to drag the rear brakes a lot so the rear pads get changed a lot. Mike
15. Be nice, tell him OK then wear what you want. Mike
16. Congrats on the trip. Sounds like fun. Mike
17. It is nice to know the value of something. But the only thing that really matters is how much someone is willing to pay. A rock from Mercury (a gaseous planet) might be worth millions but only if you can find someone who will buy it. Mike
18. What was your camera lens combination? Mike
19. A good reply to "did you finger me?" is "did you deserve to be fingered?" either way he answers you just say "Well there you go." Mike
20. Last time I looked the crime rates for Canada and the US were pretty similar. So yes it is safe to ride in the US and Canadians are welcome visitors. However there are thieves everywhere so be smart about it. It wouldn't be wise to shoot someone over a gps. You would be in the right of course but the legal fees and hassle would far outweigh the cost of a replacement. i carry a bike cover and use it each night when on the road. Also thank the hotel and or other guest for the heads up and running the bg off. Mike
21. Hahaha. The last time I was at a dealership and got a 'good deal' I was so surprised and worried that I called in the sales manager and demanded they charge me a more appropriate (higher) price for the car. I mean who ever heard of walking out of a car dealership feeling like you got a 'good deal'. Of course the guy knew. I mean automobile pricing is so transparent every body knows exactly what each vehicle costs. Dealer discounts, incentives and volume buys are always so clearly stated how could he not know. You wouldn't think the "dealer invoice" could be wrong and besides every one knows the dealers always sell below invoice. Yep they loose money on every single sale. The contract was filled out and signed. Then reviewed by a closer or manager and signed again. Cash was paid, the sale was done. The dealership had every advantage in this negotiation and used it. Do you think if the purchaser came back the next day and said you charged me more than the car was worth the dealership would have refunded some of his money back? Do you? Well do ya? Sometimes a lawsuit needs to punish the offender sufficiently so they won't try it again. As far as value for defamed character, embarrassment, inconvenience etc. That's what judges and juries are for. They will not award more than they think it is worth. Mike
22. Probably one of the vibration absorbing oil filled motor mount assemblies has lost it's fluid and and oh wait ...never mind. Mike
