  1. If you are asking if heavier springs will allow you to overload your truck ---no. But factory springs are notoriously soft. Better springs can help you carry the intended load, improve handling and lessen bottoming out. So if you feel you need them you probably do. Your truck will ride a little stiffer unloaded so be prepared for that.
  2. Hold the audio button down until the unit beeps twice and goes off. About two seconds. to turn off the CB do the same thing except hold down the CB button until it goes off. Mike
  3. Just remember... Your government is there to protect you. Mike
  4. It can be done that way. You will probably need to double check a couple of times. Also it might be a good idea to test both gages on a single vacuum port to make sure they read the same. You may have to fabricate a restriction to put in the vacuum lines to reduce bounce. try it and let us know how it works out. Mike
  5. Buy elsewhere. Mike
  6. Just a heads up. I went down to look at the new gas cans that are contoured to fit into the saddlebag of a Harley. Really nice plastic cans sloped on one side to fit the shape of a saddlebag. But the lid of my Venture would not close with this can inside. So make sure you test before you buy. Mike
  7. Actualy if no one ever bought a new bike you wouldn't be able to buy a used one. Same goes for cars and everything else. Mike
  8. The new Bridgestone Exedra MAX tires are far better than the stock Bridgestones. They have multiple rubber compounds and deep tread depth. And they have the correct sizes for the venture. I continue to be very pleased with the ones I mounted on my bike the last time around. Mike
  9. Some companies listen to their customers some don't. Mike

    Beretta

I have an 84FS. These are great little guns and I enjoy mine thoroughly. Make sure you are using a Beretta magazine. Off brands can cause problems. What do you mean by the safety doesn't come on? Can you move the safety lever and it doesn't engage or does the lever jam and can't be moved? Or does it move and the gun still fires? Call Beretta to make arrangements to send it in for service. Be sure they are fully aware of exactly what the problem is and when it occurs. Mike
  11. It was a fun meet. Thanks Brian for hosting. Million Mile Rider is a wiz with the Carb Tune. The food and company were great. Mike
  12. Glad to hear you are enjoying your bike. Mike
  13. You can take a look at mine tomorrow. Mike
  14. Ok what kind of bike was he riding again? Mike
  15. I will be there. Mike
  16. Wasn't there something about wrong oil or some defects in some 06 rear ends? I don't know this. It just seems I remember something about rear end problems on 06 bikes. If so I believe it is a warranty item. If I am right I wouldn't muddy the water with the spacer story. Mike
  17. Hahaha. I was just sitting here thinking about organizing a Meet N Eat. So I came on line and here was your post. Timing timing timing. Only thing is. What would it take to get you to reconsider bbqing your miniature goat? Mike
  18. i don't know if oil has anything to do with it or not. But at about the same miles my 08 developed a gear scream soon after I changed my oil to Amsoil synthetic. Very loud and very irritating. I changed the oil back to Yamalube and the scream subsided after about 800 miles. Coincidence? Maybe but I will stick with the Yamalube for now. Could your clutch upgrade do it. Maybe but I don't see how. Probably just a coincidence. Mike
  19. So sorry to hear about your loss. Mike
  20. Probably mine. I mean I didn't go to the international but I was going to go. And if I had gone I probably would have left my hat. So it is probably mine. Mike

    Do you...

I really like my gps and I use it a lot especially to find an address I am not familiar with. But when going on a trip I always verify my route with a map. When I am on the bike I am not fond of 200 miles on a soft gravel road even if it is a shorter distance. But if it is there the gps will find it. Mike
  22. My sincerest sympathies the the family. In the old days 'car phones' had hands free where a microphone was on the sun visor. There were kits you could buy to accomplish this with early cel phones. You plugged your phone to a cradle in the car. It seems unless you get some sort of blue tooth and wear earphones or worse yet a headset this technology has drifted away. It would seem fairly simple to require a common interface on all cel phones (think usb) which would allow auto manufactures to build hands free into the cars. Mike
  23. Welcome to the forum and the best handling bike on the road. I really like the cherry red color. 1)If the whine doesn't bother you don't worry about it. If it does oil and clutch baskets are possible fixes. 2)Saddlebag guard rails are easily straightened by bending. Take them off and put one end in a vice and gently bend until you are satisfied with the angle. 3)The CB antenna with the loading coil goes on your left as you are riding. 4)Lots of touring bikes dont come with a tach. Go figgure. Hit the rev limiter a few times and you can learn to shift by the speedo or there are lots of tach options available. I installed a cheap ($35) one wire hookup on mine just for occasional reference. I have noticed my Venture's handling improves with my experience. Practice u-turns at every opportunity and the top heaviness will tend to fade away. Best Wishes Mike
  24. Hahaha. Paul you are right. I didn't think of that. Mike
