  1. If you sprayed carb cleaner down the carb and there was no change in rpm it is time to recheck spark. Mike
  2. No no no to Rain x on a stock windshield. The Warning is right on the Rain x bottle. Use any good liquid car wax and buff it with a soft cloth. Mike
  3. Really glad you guys came through ok. Payment to you depends on your carrier. Some insurance companies are ok with that some are not. Some body shops can repair and match the paint on the plastic. Prices will vary widely. Also a little side plug here. Check out the v-max rear end swap. It reduces lugging quite a bit. Doesn't even care if it's your fault.
  4. thanks SilvrT Mike
  5. Stop by the auto parts store and pick up a vinyl repair kit. After the repair use some sealer on the seat. Some brands work better than others. So get something you are comfortable with. 6. Just under $250 for the pair. Mike
  7. At one time someone on this site was selling a stainless steel replacement. Now if I could just remember who. Mike
  8. It has been a while since I anounced my intention to replace my Venture's tires with the New Bridgestone Exedra Max tires. So here is the latest on that. I finally got the Exedra Max tires mounted today. I think they are a good looking tire. At least as good as a black-wall tire can be. Their profile seems a bit rounder than the old Exedra. That should improve cornering quite a bit. The tread on the rear is really deep. Tire pressure is 41 and 42. Since it was cool I put them at 40. I will see where that takes them when they warm up. Also Bridgestone rates them highly for rain and the tire groves look like they can move some water. Being in Seattle it won't take long to discover the truth in that. On to the road test. For break in, other than rocking back and forth on the straight aways, I didn't do anything special. The first thing I noticed was the loud noise from my old tires was gone. For now at least these tires are very quiet. Yea. At freeway speed handling seemed normal, good. Lane changing and maneuvering is exactly where I like it to be. Long sweeping turns were quite enjoyable. I didn't pick up on any unpleasant traits. Another yea. Now for the acid test. Off to the parking lot. Lock over u-turns and sharp cornering was exceptional. A much better feel than either the old Bridgestones or the Dunlop 404s. That's three yeas. Summary It is difficult when comparing new tires to old ones. And I would have preferred white walls. But for the initial ride these tires seemed to meet all of my expectations. Only time will tell if these early perceptions will hold up. Or if the multi compound rubber provides the additional tire life I am hoping for. But for now I think the Max is a winner. And it comes in the right sizes. Mike
  9. That waving hand from the steering wheel is a Texas thing. If you see it here in the Northwest you better just pucker up. Mike
  10. Very purdy. Mike
  11. Bike is in the shop as we speak. I am having the newer Bridgestone Exedra Max multi compound tires mounted. I have used the Dunlop D404s. I liked the white walls but the back end felt like it was floating around some of the corners. Even so I got well over 12k out of them. The factory Bridgestone Exedras were ok. But they had a short life 10k and increasing noise with age. They also get a lot of bad press on this forum. It seems all of the tire makers have some problem or another. So I went for a new tire on the block the Max. Since I couldn't find any real life reviews on it I figgured I could be the first. Only time will tell if it works out. Mike
  12. It is a marketing strategy. A dysfunctional vehicle that supposedly crosses over into more than one marketing category and appeal to a wider audience. Like you can't use your Jeep for going to and from the grocery store. So you need a crossover. It will perform both functions. And separate you from your wallet at the same time. Mike
  13. I was going to offer you the use of my pressure washer but I see you already have one. I get the very heavy and black mildew on my concrete patio. Either 'Gone in 60 Seconds' from Home Depot or bleach and water scrubbed in with a broom then pressure washed will work. It is better if you do it before it gets to hot out or evaporation will be a problem. I use the bleach and water/ pressure washer. But I like to let the bleach soak in for a while before applying pressure. I now keep a spray bottle filled with 40/60 bleach and water near the patio. Every once in a while I give the highest offending areas a squirt and just let the bleach soak in. I usually do this late in the evenings. It makes clean up time go much easier and faster. Good Luck Mike
  14. Usually that has something to do with not getting one of the push rods or ball in correctly. Mike
  15. If you are talking about the clutch boss nut it is supposed to be torqued to 50 ft lbs. But I don't see anything in the literature identifying it as left or right hand. Mike
  16. Be sure to report that to the oil company servicing the gas station. Not the station manager but the oil company. Mike
  17. Congrats on the Barnett upgrade. A very good post. I did mine with the Barnett friction plates and steels kit in addition the the SR upgrade. Just a note, the Barnett friction plates do not have the alignment notches. Also generally it is not a good idea to use a foot lb torque wrench at such a low setting. It is very very easy to twist and break things. A 1/4 or 3/8 drive 'beam type' inch lb torque wrench is not very expensive at places like Harbor Freight or Wal Mart. Under $50, sometimes under $20. Whats more I recommend a 'beam type' torque wrench until the user has learned enough feel for a 'click or ratchet type'. This is one of those rare cases where cheaper can be better even if it is a tad slower. Mike
  18. Prayers sent. Mike
  19. Awesome editing and I think it was filmed in 1080P. Mike
  20. Dito on the contacts. Also the connectors are sometimes attached (wire tied) so the connections are stressed by their own weight. So pay attention to if the wire ties are above or below the connector. Mike
  21. Keep us posted on how it works out for you. Mike
  22. A second cup holder with a spray bottle doesn't hurt either. You can give yourself a misting every now and then. Especially if you get stuck in traffic. Mike
  23. Sorry to hear this. prayers sent. Mike
  24. If you install the Barnett pressure plate you can purchase heaver springs if needed. Mike
  25. It's nearly time to swap tires again. So far I haven't seen anything I can get real excited about. Bridgestone Exedra poor handling and short life, Dunlop light on construction and short life, Metzler 880 throws chunks, Commander II doesn't have our size, Avons have cracks and so on. So I have figured out there are no good tires only less bad. Bridgestone came out with the new Exedra Max last year. It has dual compound rubber and a high load rating. Has anyone tried these tires yet? They make both a 'b' size and a plain size (150/80-16 and a 150/80b-16). I assume the b is for belted. Can anyone suggest which would be better for the Venture and why? I am considering these even though they only come in black wall and I prefer white walls. Mike
