I have a small contracting business in NC. It is easier for me to pay the drywall man by the hour since most jobs are small. I pay $15.00/hr and he works for that and is good with great joints and corners.

Maybe a good plan, maybe not!

Now now boys it is just a gun so don't get in a tizzy over it. What harm could come of the safety issue???

Don't forget to come up with the $12 so you can get back on the site. We hate to lose any breathing bikers.

In all fairness, it was barely moving and that Colt was a great shooter in its day and since I still shoot two different S&W model 19s, it was an easy shot (as it turned out). I forgot about the opposite torque (due to rifleing) on the Colt compared to the Smith. Oh well, the poor critter has been consumed by fire in my burn pit now. There are so many animals dumped out here in the county and the Animal Control can't begin to keep up with them. I have five rescue dogs, three of which showed up here on my land within the last four years and the other two were at my last acreage.

My son bought me a .45 Glock ten years ago, but I could never get used to it ande gave it back to him. I have a 1911 A1 and a Bersa in .380 for backup, but everything else are revolvers. I guess since I never served as a deputy during auto loaders, I am accustomed to wheel guns.

I had my dogs in the back fenced yard and they went ballistic. I looked out and there was a fox stumbling around outside the fence. Obviously it was rabbid which we have had much of in my part of the county this last year. I grabbed the nearest firearm which happened to be my Colt Diamondback that I used to carry as a deputy. At 45-50 feet with one round the fox was "grave yard dead". I haven't fired this particular gun in near thirty years but I keep it loaded just the same. Now I will have to clean it for the next thirty years.

I have over 140K miles on my 02 RSMV with no failure of the shock or anything else for that matter.

Venture handle bars to RSTD handle bars the easy way
Sylvester replied to Bubber's topic in Watering Hole
This is the first time I saw this post, sorry I didn't chime in sooner, but I changed mine out five years ago to RSTD bars and had two inches added to all the cables and in SS. In reality you only need the throttle legthened or re-routed. When you fininsh the install you will love the results except that your hands will be outside ot the fairing protection. This means colder in the winter and riding gloves in the summer (those bugs sting a bare hand).- 19 replies

Ponch's Progress

Has anyone got an update on Ponch? I think of him often. -
Definately use a punch (drill causes spark and metal shavings) the alternative could be deadly. Cushion the punch on the tank lip with cloth or foam and drive a 12 o'clock and three o'clock hole. You will gain much usable fuel storage. Caution, in the summer heat you need to be getting on the superslab soon or don't top the tank off. It will puke out fuel through the vent.

I have used Sea Foam in my oil on my 02 Dodge Ram 1500 once a year for the last three years. The truck with the 4.7L engine has 142K on it and runs great and uses no oil. this engine has been reported as the worst engine ever for Chrysler Motors with failures at 30-60K miles. Changing the PCV valve yearly is also in the maintenance. I change the oil every 3,000 miles.

You need the themostat on these machines to keep the temperature up to the operating range. At least that is my opinion and that of many professional mechanics. I used to take thermostats out of vehicles in the summer and put them back for winter, but modern engines are designed differently than a 59 Ford six cylinder. And if you haven't changed a themostat in these beasts, you are in for some work.

I didn't ride the Tourer enough to heat it up and having owned Harley's in the past, I am well aware of the heat issue. I would not get rid of my RSMV and keep it with the sidecar for riding with my wife. I did like the nimble feel of the Victory and easy handling plus all the amenities. I will be taking it next Saturday 2/4/12 for a long ride. Then I will let you know what I came up with. It is not priced that high, MSRP is about $22k which is not much more than the RSV now. No cassette player though, that may kill the deal.

My daughter has one and loves it. I have no idea what year or mileage though. She bought it used through the Nissan dealership.

Went to look at the new Cross Country tourer yesterday. Took a ride and WOW. Very nice machine. The dealer told me to come back and take it for an afternoon. Now that is good relations. The dealer is an Indian dealer also and I have known him for a couple years. I will take him up on that when the weather improves.

TriPower Generator - Anyone have one of these?
Sylvester replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
I run my portable 13.5/8 kw generator into a 50 amp plug in the garage for my welder. I then shut off the power into the house at the outside box. I have marked the circuits that I don't need in an emergency and make sure they are off. I disconnect the two circuits for my two freezers and start the generator. I then flip the 50amp breker for the welder on and I am in business. I turn the freezers on separately about ten minutes apart. When the power comes back on (neighbors yard light) I reverse order everything except the freezers which I leave on. I have only had to use the generator three times in four years and that was for a short time to a few hours. -
20+ KW Home Generator - Anyone Installed One?
Sylvester replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
Lots of info here. I live in NC and we only have power outages for ice and high winds. I have a portable 13,500 peak and 8,000 running generator. It does great for my needs and powers two propane heat units and all the necessary things I have like two freezers, a refrigerator freezer, well pump, two TVs and of course the shop (as long as I don't use the welder). Any outager we have had lasts only hours, but I keep plenty of gasolene with Seafoam added for supply. -
I have five eight foot w/4-4' tube lights. They are fairly new and are using the T8 bulbs in daylight brightness. They do the job in my shop and pull less power than the T12s. My walls and ceiling are painted white to help with the lighting. They are available at Home Depot.

I love my WheelDock. Always secure when it engages. Sorry for your misfortune, but I have been very close to the same predicament. Thankfully I recovered.
