  2. I just got my annual bill from Allstate, and the annual premium jumped about $100 for both bikes. I called my agent, and we went through all of the coverages to see why the increase. I lost one discount that I got last year when I switched from Progressive (transfer discount), but we also discovered that I qualified for a few others that were not previously noted on the policy, such as having taken the MSF course, membership in a few organizations like CMA, and low and behold, also a discount for Venture Riders! This is unique to Allstate, and you have to ask for it. All combined, my new discounts lowered my premium back down to what it was last year, even after losing the big one. It pays to ask!
  3. Hi again. I have just completed a Service Chart for my RSV based upon an annual mileage of 8,000. (Chose that mileage as the highest of the three main service intervals in the manuals). It has room for six services and gives some info on measurements, volumes and part numbers etc. It is open so you can alter it to suit your particular needs. It is based upon the PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND MINOR REPAIR from the owners manual. It is in a Word document format and open to all. Hope it is of use to someone else and please let me know if there are any glaring inaccuracies in it. Best Wishes. Neil. (Old Miner)
  4. Owen posted back in June about this, but I wanted to bring it up again. Much discussion in the LD community has been about the Medjet Assist program. It is required for most of the longer rallies (IBR, Buttlite VI, 10n10) and seems to be a good idea all around. Medjet Assist is an insurance/retainer program that will transport you from anywhere in the world to your home hospital (or whatever hospital you want). If you get the correct coverage, they will also transport your motorcycle from anywhere in North America (Cont. US, Alaska, Canada, Mexico - not sure about Hawaii) to your local dealer. Coverage is $250 annually and there is available short term contracts also. I believe some memberships (BMWMOA, IBA) provide some discounts. http://medjetassist.com/membership/motorcycleprotection.aspx I will be getting the annual this year. Mostly for the Alaska trip, but the incremental costs from a 3 week membership to annual makes it a no-brainer. RR
  5. I've rented a routing/scheduling program for my business for some 5 years before finally buying the dang thing. Now I am trying to install it on my laptop which has Windows 7 and i get an error message. Since I am 9 days out of my annual update subscription they won't help me without my renewing the annual updates for a mere $350. What gripes my rear about the program as well is that after I bought the program I found out that I have to have the programmers permission to use the damn thing through their password verification. And they wonder why I don't want to renew my updates. Aaarggghh!
  6. The 11th annual Bikin' for Burns is Saturday May 14th. Registration is from 10:00am till noon. Leave at noon for a 45 mile police escort ride to Firemen park where food, vendors. beer tent and rock bands will be set up. If you watch from side of the road it takes 45 minutes for the bikes to go by. I get to staging at 9:30 so I can ride up front. If anyone from the area or not in the area want to join me we can meet for breakfast then go resister. I've missed one in 11 years, It's a lot of fun. http://abatemichregion20.com/id379.html Hope to see some of you......Karl
  7. Here are a few photos and videos from Leadwolf's Annual Michigan Fall Ride. The music for the videos was chosen by YouTube.
  8. Here's the first 3 bikes that showed up for our annual ABATE Memorial Dice Run.http://tapa.tk/mu/a6ea5d67-8639-210d.jpg Later, Scooter Bob
  9. Hi everyone, I also just got around to posting. Happened to come across the site by doing a search for a windshield (made a deal with Marcy btw). So I've already saved the $12.00 membership fee. Riding a 2001 RSV bought used in 03 with 5800 miles on it, paid $7200. Deal of the century, Imho. Go by the name of Cruise57 because, you guessed it I love to CRUISE, but not limited to M/C's, Wife and I love cruise ships also. Looking forward to long friendships and tons of chatter from eveeryone here. Bike pics is from our annual Ride-Across-Maryland, Breast Cancer charity ride, normally 1200 bikes. Coming up end of May.....can't wait. My wife is a 3 year survivor now WooHoo. Donations are accepted through Rideacrossmaryland.org / sponsor a rider / David Shaw (I also posted in New Member area, wasn't sure where to post)
  10. Changed the oil, sycned the carbs, cleaned the air filters, checked the pressure in the tires and all that kind of stuff. Monday morning a buddy and I leave on our annual "boys week out" road trip. Last year we rode to Mesa, Arizona. This year we are headed South to Rockport, Texas. Life is good!
  11. Hey All: I went to have my annual inspection weekend before last and unlike last year I hung around till it was done. When they said its ready...I asked...Did you check everything...YES...They said...Everything good until next year?..YES...They said...Did you take the rear saddlebag off to check the rear pads...NO..They said....Why:confused24:..not....I said...WE use a mirror...OK...I said.... NOTE: Last year I left it to have the new WWW's put on along with the inspection.....and came back later in the week.... I came home last weekend...Pulled the Saddlebag....Pulled the Rear Pads....See what I found below with my pixs...Just finished put on EBC FA123HH sintered pads....I posted the pixs for two reasons; 1. to show how the pads can wear unevenly.....Really a design flaw I think...and 2. To show why it is important to just know HOW for the Safety Thing George In Virginia
  12. I took Blue-Belle in last Thursday for her annual physical. I'm having the carbs sonic cleaned and rebuilt as well as the brake worked on. About the only mechanic that will still work on anything that is over 3 or 4 years old. Should be getting her back in a couple of weeks or so.
  13. Just wanted to get this out to everyone. The 2nd Annual Onslow Vietnam Veterans Memorial Motorcycle Run will be held on Saturday September 27th 2008. Those of you who went on this run last year can attest to the amount of bikes that were in attendance. It was well over 2,000 and hopefully there will be even more this year. You can go to the following link and read up on it. If you decide you want to go there is a registration form you can download and have filled out prior to getting there to make things go quicker. http://www.geocities.com/vietvetmemorial/run It was great last year with all the VentureRiders out there representing our family. Hopefully there will be as many and even more. Look forward to seeing all who can attend.
  14. Thanks for taking the time and effort to put up the banner of the 3rd annual Pork in the Pines.
