Strange noise resolved
N3FOL replied to Two Tone White's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I agree...those weird noises are the hardest to troubleshoot. Glad to hear that you were able to identify the source with no :mo money:spent. -

Not really sure for the 1st generation Ventures. But, 2 days ago as I was trying to beat the rain clouds:250: headed home from work...I managed to hit 110-115 mph on my Venture. It was smooth as silk travelling at that speed and I stayed at that pace for a good 3 to 4 minutes and then backed down to 95 mph on the speedo. I guess sometimes, it is ok to put the bike at WOT...just be very careful on the straightaway.

Won 68230-97B Auxilliary Light
N3FOL replied to N3FOL's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Does anyone know what kind of LED lamp I should order to replace the bulbs on the Harley Aux Light part # 68230-97B? I think the assembly takes an 1157 type bulb...I've seen a few on the CustomDynamics website, but still unsure. -
Yes...and remember to wear eye protection.

You should be fine. I like mine and will keep it forever. Just don't drop it:scared:.

Car engine oil for the RSV ?
N3FOL replied to FL-Venture-Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
At this point, I am 55% convinced that the Rotella T Dyno 15W40 is an OK oil to use for the 2nd generation Ventures. -
Please count me out on this ride. I originally thought my schedule is wide opened for this Saturday, but my daughter reminded me about her Open House on Sat. AM as well. We are looking around for Colleges and Universities for her and I think this is an important event for her and I should be there. Have a great time this Saturday. Ride Safe Everyone.

My buddy is a Calibration Engr. with our organization and he may just be able to shed some light to this matter.

I have the Morgan Carbtune and have used it twice with no problems. I will be more concerned with the condition of the rubber hoses after a few years or perhaps after using it 10 times or more. It is just like the rubber caps on the carbs...they deteriorate over time.

Won 68230-97B Auxilliary Light
N3FOL replied to N3FOL's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Craig, I just intend to use these lights are Run and Brake Lights only. From your reply, I will just look for the Blue and Yellow wire on the RSV...but I need to verify which color wire is the Run and Brake wires on the Harley 68230-97b. Thank You. -

Hello Craig. Are the wires located right on the plate holder? Have not really looked until I remove the plate holder on my '07. -

Not sure why the link that I add is no longer there. I just completed the transaction and paid for it today. Perhaps you can search eBay via the Item #. It is the Harley Touring Light Chrome Rear Auxilliary Light -

Car engine oil for the RSV ?
N3FOL replied to FL-Venture-Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I also had just replaced my oil and is good for another 2500 miles. Rotella T is always available at my local SAMs and Walmart stores. I now have 10W40 moto oil (Valvoline), but I am really tempted to use Rotella T 15W40 this summer. Please assure me that I will not have any problems by using Rotella T on my Venture. I've never really experienced any clutch slippage and I don't really want to find out the hard way. -
I won this used License Plate Holder with Lights (Item# 170318869042) and I am wondering if there is an LED lamp available bright enough for the application (68230-97b). What would be the color of the wire I should be looking for inside the license plate holder area to connect to the assembly? Is this a straight bolt on? Tips please.

I've never really thought about switching hoses after my initial carb synch. The next time I do my carbs, I may as well give it a try and see the variation. So far, I've never had any problems and synching my carbs seems to help a lot on performance and peace of mind.

Awesome mileage you've put in your '07 (60K) in 2 years. Where have you gone having put in that many miles. Yep, the RSV sure does love to rev high. You can't go wrong with a Venture + this Forum = Rider Satisfication

Hmmmm. Looks like this is only for the plastic part not including the bracket. At this time, I am deciding whether to get Blue or Black. (leaning towards the Black for now).

Hello Bluesees. I think I know what you are going through right now. Just like my Venture, I did its very first oil change and just as I was going to loosen the oil drain plug...it would not budge. I tried all my might and did the 'cheater bar' thing and it still would not budge...I was also afraid that I might break the whole bolt and that would be my worst nightmare. After spending 20-30 minutes trying to figure out how to loosen it...I finally decided to just use my air gun and hopefully the bolt would turn. I gave the bolt one small shot of the air gun ...success. If this is the first time your are changing the oil on a brand new bike, Yamaha sure does make those oil drain plugs very very tight.
