  1. Maybe strip some of the chrome and metal parts on the RSTD. I bet it will do better than 10 !
  2. You are 2" taller than me, so you should not have any problems. I just use my regular Timberland Pro Titanium Steel toe boots and it works well. BTW, what website did you see those Johnny Reb boots?
  3. I ride all winter long as long as it nice and dry and no snow on the ground....
  4. I stay away from those filters. They are overpriced and does no help with all of my motoring applications.
  5. RSTD sure is a heavy machine.
  6. Thanks for the heads up. I remember a forum member had mentioned this to me before and I will check on this so a shop can do the warranty job. The last time I checked and inquired about this particular problem is that only a number of Ventures actually had the problem...not sure if they are pulling my leg or not. :rotfl:
  7. Thanks guys. I should have known that to begin with...my bad. I will pickup 4 quarts of Valvoline Moto Oil 10W40 for the Venture on my way home. The manual recommends 10W30 or 20W40 Moto Oil, but I can't get them right now. I have used 10W40 moto oil on my Vulcan all winter long and it was fine.
  8. Hello Steve. Yes. I was talking about regular Valvoline 10W30 oil used for cars. I have seen 10W40 Valvoline motorcycle oil as well as 20W50 moto oil, but Advance Auto does not have 10W30 motorcycle oil and personally have not seen one. 'MOM' recommends SAE 10W30, so I am not sure at this point if car oil is ok with the Venture:confused:
  9. I thought a saw an exit to Shillington from 76W... Not this Sunday, but we can definitely pick a nice weekend after Halloween...my weekends are pretty much booked for now and have been helping my daughter pick the college or university she wants to attend in a year from now....that is very stressing for her:sick:. Anyway, I am sure and hoping that we will have some nice weekend in December and I may be able to bring along a ride buddy who also got himself a brand-new '07 Tour Deluxe a couple of months ago. Regards and Ride Safe.
  10. Skid, What is your call and I'll add it in my log. Thanks.
  11. With the 5 year warranty, I feel better when something like this happens.
  12. Thanks bikenut for the assurance! When I was at Advance Auto, I noticed that 75W90 is more expensive than 80W90. Ride safe.
  13. Hi Ron. Thanks. I really do like the color scheme...of the blue and some black on the side of the tank, bags and fenders. I had the dealer add the light bar and the run/brake light on top of the trunk. That's about it...for the bike has everything that I want for a nice touring machine. When I started riding, I thought I will never have a radio on a bike and owning an '07 Venture was a dream come true. Keep in touch as I am going to be as frequent as I can in this forum, so we can coordinate a nice ride next season. I do ride all winter long, but I think I am going to stay local and commute to and from work. It is amazing that one can rack a lot of miles just commuting to work... BTW, how did you get 8K miles in just 2 months?
  14. I know Spark Plugs 1 and 3 are easy to get to (closest to the seat), but how do you easily get to plugs 2 and 4 (front-left and right)? Did you remove the tank?
  15. What time on 3.830 Mhz? If you guys are also on over the weekend, I may be able to join the QSO and introduce myself.
  16. So do we all say that SAE 80W90 Synthetic should be ok to use? I am at 540 miles and by the time Saturday comes I may be around 650 miles.. Thanks for all your response.
  17. I am set to change my oil and filter and the final drive gear oil. I bought Valvoline SAE 10W30 (4 qts) and gear oil Valvoline Synthetic. I know we can use GL3, GL4, or GL5 grade gear oil that is SAE 80 as stated by the 'MOM'. I got the Valvoline Synthetic Gear oil but it is SAE 80W90, GL5 instead if just saying SAE 80. Is this ok to use on mt '07 Venture?
  18. That whole can may be an overkill. Simply follow the directions on the can and you should be good to go.
  19. Hi Skid. Yes I am. I frequent 10m, 40m, and 75m and mostly on a weekend. How about you? We can set-up a time and frequency to have a QSO. 73 Mike
  20. This is what I ordered yesterday together with the Carbtune II. I would check the idle first with the bike nice and warm before synchronizing the carburetors. http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/esi325.html
  21. I can flat foot one side, but not quite flat foot on the other side. You are right and I am glad that I did not have the bike lowered in any way. Regards and ride safe.
  22. I agree. With the weight, I give the bike lots of respect. I cannot afford to loose concentration and lean it at a stop. Just like last night on my way home from work, they were paving parts of I-83N near the MD/PA line and it was a stop and go for about 15 minutes. One thing I like about this bike...even at slow speeds...it seems to be well balanced.
  23. I traded in my '06 Vulcan 900 with 21K miles. At first they did not want to take the trade since it came from eBay, but the dealership was so willing to work with me throughout the deal.
  24. +1 on that. The Venture looks great at every angle anywhere, anyplace. It surely is a head turner.
