  1. Thanks for the link. To take off the front wheel does not look so bad after all...I guess I'll have to find out after apx. 10K miles.
  2. Sorry to hear about your speeding ticket. I take it easy these days...cops are very thirsty to give speeding tickets especially in this worldwide economy situation. If you use the Insanity defense...they might take away your bike. Ride safe and we all learn from our mistakes. Regards.
  3. That is good assurance! Thanks for the report. If that is the case, Ride-On will be on my purchase list. I also plan to try and change my own tires, when the time comes. I've been reading about how to replace the rear tire on the Venture and I think I can do the job since I have Carbone One's self-standing bike adapter (they said the bike is stable even if you remove one tire [front or rear] with the CarbonOne free standing jack adapter). I wish they had something to look at for the front tire removal on 2nd Gen Venture on this forum.
  4. They look like a good product. As you know, our trunk does come with an organizer similar to the product you've shown. A 2-sided tape may temporarily work, but as you said it may not hold for an extended period of time especially on hot summer months. Check the trunk section and perhaps that may give you an idea how to install the lid organizer without hurting your side bags by drilling through them.
  5. Don't feel alone. I am also in constant search of riding tips, because I will continue to learn riding and reminding myself as long as I continue to ride. As mentioned several time, practice is your key to success. You will build confidence and less fear as your skills develop over time. Ride as much as you can and always be on top mental condition. With your height, you should have a big advantage than me ... only standing at 5'5", but the Venture does not stop me from riding. Good Luck and be safe out there and do not stop riding. Regards.
  6. That '06 sure sounds very tempting. Depending on how much miles it has, you can still ride away with a great deal. So far, I do not have any problems with my '07 and it has served me well since October of last year...so far.
  7. +10,000. Your Multi-Meter will tell you. A lot safer this way.
  8. I've heard nothing but good reports from riders that put Ride-On on their tires. The only reason that is keeping me away from Ride-On is the fact that one has to clean the inside part of the wheel between every or every other tire change. However, the peace of mind of having a well balanced tire and the confidence of not to be stranded on the side of the road may be well worth it.
  9. +1. I am sure you still have your receipts on hand. Contact them and hopefully you will be reimbursed. Glad to hear that your bike is running healthy now. Regards.
  10. Did Warranty took care of all the parts replaced?
  11. Did somebody mentioned Seafoam?
  12. I checked on how much a bulb would cost for a sealed beam lamp and it would be around $18 bucks each...sale price of $15 bucks. I hope they last longer than a year.
  13. The keyword here is 'misadjusted' or 'misaligned'. Any lights be it HID or non-HID and if it is misaligned, it will blind a driver. For trucks, they can significantly blind car drivers because they are already up high to begin with. Newer vehicles less than 4 years equipped with HID lamps has different settings of beam. My Nissan Murano's HID have at least 3 different settings 1 being low and 3 on the highest setting (it is like an eyeball that moves up and down).
  14. The 'true' HID are not really blinding at low beam (high beam will definitely blind you). There are cagers out there that replace their headlights with fake HID that looks like HID's. Those are the type of lighting that seems to give you the most crappy illumination and it blinds oncoming traffic.
  15. I can see you now.
  16. I've been using FRAM Moto filters on my Vulcan and currently have the same Moto filter installed on my Venture. I am nearing 3K miles since my last oil change. Dino Valvoline Moto Oil and FRAM seems to be a nice combo for me. My Oil level is always on the 'Full' level.
  17. Man, I feel real good reading about all the nice comments on 5th Gear. I rode in today to work with temps. in the 20's and the Venture just rocks and pulls with confidence at any gear. I always take the interstate and find no problems passing anyone on 5th gear. On lower gears, it sounds like a turbo engine. Ride safe.
  18. Congrats on the new ride. Heck with the cold weather. Those Ventures can handle heated liner and gloves:grandma:. Rode in today and it felt great. I may be able to get a little over 4K miles before this winter season is over. Enjoy your new ride. Regards.
  19. I rode in today to work for it was very nice here in SE PA cruising down into Maryland. I have passing lamps installed and observed my lights in front with my main light in low beam. I can easily see my passing lamps, but the low beam is just not too obvious. As soon as the sun came out in full force, the low beams is hardly noticeable...so as always, I changed it to my normal bright lights with passing lamps on on a bright sunny day. Ride safe everyone.
  20. +1. In the Kawasaki Forum, some owners complained of the lens falling off after a few miles of riding. Most of the time, you get what you paid for.
  21. On a bright sunny day, low beams are hard to see and bright lights is the only way to be noticed. There are also some day time hours where the sun is not as intense, so I try not to use bright lights too often on those days. During the summer riding season where we get lots of sun, bright lights all the way during day time hours. At night, off course...I do not want to blind any oncoming drivers and I also want to be treated the same way. Ride safe.
  22. Now that is a great deal . I am going to hang on to my stock mufflers. On a long trip, I am sure that my ears will thank me and I will still be able to enjoy the tunes much better.
  23. Looks like you are on the right track. LED lights will definitely make a difference. For the sake of this thread, I turn on my bright lights together with my passing lamps on a bright sunny day. If the day is partly cloudy, I use my discretion and simply use low beams with passing lamps on. At night, I really do not want to blind oncoming traffic as this might back fire on me (car going towards me head on). Ride safe and never stop riding.
  24. Get well soon, hale374. If you are able to move around, I hope you can help authorities identify the truck that cut in front of you. There is a big possibility the owner of the truck lives within a 10 mile radius from where it happened (my guess). Best of luck on your dealings with the insurance company. Regards.
  25. I have seen a write-up with pics on this forum about taking off the rear wheel. Looks pretty straightforward. I am not so sure about the front wheel though. Also, I am not so confident cranking the wrench to loosen and tighten the wheel nuts for dismount and installation. I am afraid that the bike might move even if it is sitting on top of my Carbon One bike jack adapter. BTW, is the bike still stable if I remove one tire only (front or rear)?
