  1. If there are high winds in our area, I keep extra focused with both hands on the bar and ready to squeeze the throttle. On the Interstates, I find to be more stable the faster I go. Ride Safe.
  2. Skydoc, Thanks for the report.
  3. Well after worrying so much yesterday, I found out that if the front wheel is turned all the way to the left (on the kick stand) the clutch reservoir will appear half full. If I stand the bike straight up or front wheel turned all the way to the right, the reservoir will appear full. I guess my mistake is not really filling the reservoir 'very close' to the top. The good news is that there are no leaks anywhere. Thanks for reading.
  4. I agree, KiteSquid on fluid levels. In my case, I simply loosened the bleeder and pumped the clutch ....refilled 3X and then topped off the reservoir and tightened the bleeder. My co-worker who is a mechanic here at work and on bikes stated that some fluid may "hide' in the system, thus it is normal if not leaking anywhere. (I think he just wants me to feel better and not worry too much:cry:)
  5. Kbay, Not sure either ....I know it is possible when one drain the coolant from the radiator, the coolant reservoir may need to be topped off. I've never really heard this on Clutch Fluid reservoir as well. If I make it home and my reservoir is totally empty, I will start to worry. Thanks.
  6. I also wouldn't use that on the splines. Majority recommends at least 60% Moly...better be safe than sorry. Ride Safe.
  7. I have an '07, which could be a little different. I just noticed a few minutes ago that my clutch fluid reservoir is half full now after riding to work this morning. I checked and looked around and there is no leak anywhere. The bleeder is tight and no fluid is coming out. I hope I can make it home ok with a half filled clutch reservoir... Is this normal after bleeding the fluid...go for a ride...it may require to top off the reservoir after a ride?
  8. Last night, I went ahead and replaced my Amber colored clutch fluid. I bought a set of Speed Bleeders and they are the best your money can buy. There is just one thing that was not mentioned anywhere (I've never seen it), if one wants to replace the OEM bleed valve with the SpeedBleeder type. One must remove the left rear fins that are held by 3 allen head bolts. If you don't do this, there is no way you'll be able to remove the OEM bleeder. I had to refill the reservoir at least 4 times to be certain that I have clear liquid coming out the other end. As a beginner, it took me almost an hour being careful not to spill any brake fluid. Next in line is the rear brake reservoir...it does looks dark from the exterior.
  9. Looking at the pics and with little experience on how it is suppose to look like, it does look like normal wear and tear on the shaft. Just wondering, what if you just lube the splines with Moly60 and re-install the same shaft...will it harm anything?
  10. My apologies...I guess from the last time I checked the old bulb, it looked like an 1157 with no Offset on the side contacts. I was in a hurry to get to work. Last night, I just confirmed that it is an 1157 with an Offsetted side contact. I ordered the 1.80" LED clusters that should fit the housing. This afternoon, I may go ahead and install the Aux Light/Tag holder.
  11. Me too. Let me know, if there are good deals that may interest us especially for our bikes.
  12. Thanks KiteSquid. I will have to triple check the bulb that came with the assembly. The last time I looked, it is an 1157 bulb with contacts on the same plane at 180° of each other...Not Offset and the bottom of the bulb has 2 contacts. This tells me that it is a dual 1157. Most places say that an 1157 bulb will have an offset contact and has two point of contact on the bottom. I think it has an older type 1157 bulb.
  13. KAWoodworth, Glad to hear that you made it out ok. Ride buddies are the best...I also like that motto..."We Never Leave Anyone Behind." Hope you got that tire fixed by now. Regards.
  14. How about Loctite? Do you use any on the bolts?
  15. I've never had a pet cat, but I hope you get your daughter's cat back. It is amazing how that other cat just cut through the window screen...it must have some sharp claws.
  16. I think I hit a bump here.
  17. +1 on the RTV, if I was going to do it and RTV is readily available. I usually use it on my cars to seal the overhead valve cover and gasket. On the Venture, I think there is really no oil that pass through the mating surface (looking at the pic)...just the splines that spin within the assembly. On another note, I think he is also using a Carbon One jack adapter to hold the bike.
  18. Eddie, You must ride a lot of highways that is why your brakes last longer than others.
  19. :crackup:I rest my case.
  20. So sorry to hear about the accident. I pray for his full recovery.
  21. With this thread, it started to make me wonder how much more do I have left on the rear. Mileage on my bike is at 4K miles and I mostly ride highways, so I don't use a lot of brake most of the time. Perhaps at 10K miles, I should go ahead and pull out the pads.
  22. Most safety inspection places would write on the inspection sheet how much brake pad is left at the time. Visually looking at your rotor, did it look damaged?
  23. This is what I won on eBay...http://i22.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/7f/cb/2731_2.JPG This is what I plan to order from Custom Dynamics...http://www.customdynamics.com/Images/genesis_180_led_small.jpg Size: 1.25" or 1.80" Dynamic Replacement Cluster. I am leaning towards the 1.80" which may fit. Any recommendations?
  24. Thanks for the reminder. I needed that time to time. Always FF on my end Spring, Summer, Fall and definitely Winter. Even if it is a short ride to the grocery store, I still wear my FF.
  25. Welcome to this great forum, similost. Congrats on your new ride. Don't forget to take some for us to enjoy.
