  1. Is this the same size as the OEM lowers?
  2. At least you don't have to shovel your way out of the snow. It is April and grass is growing in our area. We also had a small bout of snow three days ago, but I really think it was 'fake' snow. Once the sun came up, it melted all of them. I'm not sure what your normal temperature is this time of the day, but I hope snow shall be over soon in your neck of the woods. Ride safe.
  3. I really like that product. This may be Bluesman's best alternative based on his current location. If I am not mistaken, you can actually make the 'cycleshell' have a semi-permanent protection as it can be secured on the ground. Just be ready to haul that 72 lbs. cover in the garage once you ride away on a nice day.
  4. That is what I am very afraid off. I've been having nightmares about that.
  5. If I was in that situation, my next best alternative would be to build a separate small garage for the bike close to the driveway. My co-worker after having to live in an apartment for years and recently purchased an RSTD, he is now in the process of closing on his first house for the sake of his bike.
  6. Enjoy the test ride. For your height, you should not have any problems. Personally, I do not find it difficult to ride around town and is definitely so fun to ride on the highways. The bike is well balanced and I do not plan to do any mechanical mods to it. Let us know what you think after the test ride.
  7. So how can we prevent this pin from failing?
  8. If that was me, I probably would have made a decision based on how many miles the trip will be and how much tread life the rear tire has. If the rear tire has some life left on the tread, I may just go ahead and use it and perhaps change tires along the way (find a moto shop). It is very scary to be riding on the highway with no more tread left on your rear tire. As far as my rear tire is concerned, I am closing in 4K miles and it still looks good. This riding season, I will try to be easy on the throttle in order to extend the life of my tire.
  9. I've never been to Seattle, but I've heard that it does rain a lot over there. Glad to hear of 3 nice rain free days has come. Enjoy the ride.
  10. Damn cager! I never trust drivers on cagers one bit. Just one story...I was riding down our local route and the driver in a Ford Van almost pulled in front of me. Luckily I was able to shine my bright lights and he stopped abruptly. I got caught up on a traffic light and went to a full stop and noticed this Ford Van has a yellow bumper sticker that states "Watch for Motorcycles." Hmmmm. You would think that he would pay to motos on the road. I wish a speedy recovery to Highlander1ga and his wife. Glad to hear that they are now recovering at home.
  11. It is really hard to trust anyone these days. Even law enforcement employees have their downfall. In our local area, I know pretty much where cops would hanging out at night or during the day. I never give them a reason to stop me for something. It may be true that mobile cops are stepping up on traffic stops. It sure is a great money maker for the district. Ride safe everyone. heatherwheels, I also think that Steve should show up in court and defend his case. Good Luck on that. Regards.
  12. Thanks for your input. I feel much better now. The jack adapter is surely one of the best accessories you can have for the Venture.
  13. Nicely done. How about 'legs'?
  14. These bikes are fun to ride. I would recommend purchasing a bike that has some factory warranty left to it. You will definitely have fun working on the bike for maintenance and adding blings.
  15. Patrick, I put 0 psi on the front forks and 25 psi on the rear. My front tire is at 36 to 37 psi and rear is at 38 psi. I ride mostly solo and only weigh 168 lbs. and 5'5". The 6 hour ride does not sound too bad, but be physically prepared to ride for that long haul home. I did the same thing when I just bought my Venture and rode for apx. 4 hours. The best part to it...enjoy the sweet ride.
  16. Wow! Just a little over 10K miles for an '03...good catch! Nice looking scoot.
  17. My Prius uses the Pink colored anti-freeze...I don't plan to use this in my Venture. Prestone is on top of my list for anti-freeze.
  18. Now that I am certain that I will need SpeedBleeder part # SB8125 (Qty:2) for the Rear Caliper and Clutch and SB7100 (Qty:2) for the Front Calipers, I went ahead and placed the order. For my coolant, I've been reading more about coolant replacement in the forum lately. Can someone point out where the drain plug is on my '07? I see a square bolt just underneathe the water pump area...? Pic will definitely help. Looking at the bike, the only way to get to that coolant cap is to remove the tank (Right?).
  19. I have synched my carb twice now. Everytime I synch the carbs, it is done at idle...but I do rev the engine time to time as I tweak the Carbtune to make it perfect.
  20. I say WW. As long as you can keep up cleaning the WW...with the amount of riding you are going to do, you should be set.
  21. Yesterday, I spent most of the morning Changing Oil, Oil Filter and Gear Oil. Everything went smoothly. I also Synched my Carbs and adjusted my idle to 1000 rpm. Carbs did not look too much out of Synch except for the right rear which was a little off...I then tweaked the settings a little bit to make it almost perfect for all four Carbs. Next in line....Clutch Fluid and Brake Fluid replacement. Ride Safe.
  22. Congrats to the new owners of an '09 Venture. It won't be long, they will pop up in this forum.
  23. Thanks for making this clear for us who have never done this kind of maintenance on our Venture. I will make sure that I grease all splines with Honda Moly60 grease.
  24. Possible it could be the fuse. Verify voltage on the 12V plug using a multimeter.
  25. What is this 'Chunk' you guys are referring to?
