2nd Gen Valve Adjustment
N3FOL replied to V7Goose's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I own a 95 Taurus SHO and had done my valve adjustment 2X on the Taurus. This Taurus has a Yamaha engine, so I have a feeling that the shims my car use is similar to the Venture. I also have a special tool to lift the cams in order for me to have access to the shim. Not sure if it is the same special tool that I can use for the Venture. If the Shims are the same, I now have a complete set including used ones that I replaced. If you have pics of the special tool and shim, I may be able to compare it with what I have. -
No doubt...very nice ride. Congrats.

That what we call a true Venture rider.

Seaking...We just bought my son a FF HJC helmet and I was surprised on how much space the rider may have in front of the face. So, this FF helmet may work for you. I always wear FF ever since and my brand is Arai, the shape of my head and face and the Arai helmet is just perfect. Happy shopping.

Congrats on your successful Passing Lamp installation job. The bike sure is more noticeable with those extra lights in front. As a habit before I turn off my engine, I always switch off my passing lamps. I don't know, perhaps it is just me...hoping my passing lamps will last longer.

290K miles on an '01 is hard to beat. I thought my 95 Taurus SHO that had just broken 200K miles is on top.

Front wheel bearings are gone
N3FOL replied to Brake Pad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I think that bottom line here is that it shall be covered under warranty. That is all I need to know, if I have problems with my wheel bearings within 5 years of my purchase date. I agree that no one should pay a single dime for a warranty work unless you want your bearings chromed or gold plated. -

Good Idea! -

I've had some experience installing a crankshaft seal using a similar technique you just described. How about to remove the old bearing? What is the trick to this? Special Tool? Just curious. -
Sounds like a 32 LED Custom Dynamics board is going For Sale soon. I do like my 32 LED board and is already super bright...with 90 LEDs, that may look like you are already on your brakes and much brighter when the brakes are applied. Congrats on the safety mod.
-
I now have LED's all around my bike and also have the LED Tail Light Board, but mine did not have any resistors showing on the surface of the board...just LEDs. One good thing about LEDs from Custom Dynamics is that they are warranted for life.

The J&S jack website states that an adapter is not needed for the Venture and I actually talked to the owner as well via phone on July 4th. However, they only give a 1 year warranty on the bottle jack. The pitbull jack looks very sturdy and wide. I just sent an email inquiry whether the Venture will require an adapter to lift...or I may just use my Carbon One jack adapter and use the Pitbull...still deciding right now. When I get a response from Pitbull, I'll post it here.

Fuel Feed Problems part III "Resolved"
N3FOL replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would think that a Fuel Filter should last longer than 2 Oil changes. For my peace of mind, I may go ahead and replace my fuel filter once a year or 12K miles. -

So, it is an '06. Should this be covered under warranty? What if you didn't pull off your front wheel at that time, did you ever suspect that the front wheel bearings are bad just by normal riding? -
oil from L vent tube, onto ABS plastic cowling?
N3FOL replied to bamico's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just curious, Ponch. Why did you have to have your Carb Float setting adjusted? When I checked my air filters at 4000 miles, removing the cowling was not too bad. I torqued the bolts back on using little pressure and I can see if these bolts are overtightened, it may easily crack the lower cowling. However, it sure was very nice to be able to see what is inside and behind that lower cowling. -
You are right. The Venture is listed. I already have the Carbon One lift adapter with legs and am happy with it. The J&S lift is trully amazing and well worth the money.

Wondering if their jack will work on a Venture. Looks like it is made for HDs only.

Oh my goodness, I am going to throw up.

Rear Shock Adjustment
N3FOL replied to vette8494's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've been experimenting on how the ride feels on different psi settings. When I just got my bike, I stayed on 25 psi and that was ok and soft. After a couple of months, I went up to 35 psi. At this setting, I think it is the best so far riding solo. Yesterday, I am at 40 psi and it felt just right riding this morning to work. I may keep 40 psi for awhile, so I don't have to add air if I have an unexpected passenger and no air pump on hand.- 23 replies

The bike just died for no reason today
N3FOL replied to Midrsv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
This thread is very helpful to me. I also have an '07, but with only 6000 miles. Sounds like the Fuel Filter and Fuel Pump are the culprits. If I can remember down the road, I may go ahead and replace my fuel filter somewhere between 10K to 12K miles. I hope my fuel pump last longer than 50K miles. -
driver's seat bolt nuts
N3FOL replied to dharnie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks for the link. The products seems very nice and just like the wing nuts, no tool is needed to loosen and tighten the bolt. Lots of options. So far, my flat bolt with the lock washer is holding tight. -
driver's seat bolt nuts
N3FOL replied to dharnie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well, it happened to me. I was checking the bike over last night and noticed that my right seat bolt is missing. I was able to find a lock washer and an 11 mm flat bolt in the garage with the right thread to keep the right side secure. Now, I have a 10 mm bolt on the left and an 11 mm bolt to the right. I guess wing nuts can be my best alternative...the next time I end up at Home Depot...for my 'To Buy' list. For now, my seat is not going anywhere. -
May be a good idea to add air on the rear shocks. Glad to hear you had a great Father's Day celebration. I also stuffed myself with Chinese Food and Sushi yesterday. Now I have to burn most of it this afternoon for a nice workout session. Ride Safe.
