  1. I think it is permanent...no more looking back on another bike. I almost fell asleep on the ride home, it was sooooooo comfy.
  2. Thanks loehring. I do not regret at all by trading in my old bike for a Venture. These bikes are awesome to ride!
  3. The FRAM filter is reasonably priced and I intend to change oil and filter every 3K miles. If I want to pay extra, KN303 by K&N will be my next choice.
  4. This weekend is a good time for me to check bolts, since I am changing oil and final drive oil for the 1st 600 miles.
  5. My Venture is an '07 and I had it wired to stay 'ON' all the time on low or high beam. Not sure at this point how to re-wire to keep your aux light on all the time on high beam.
  6. I like SeaFoam and it is widely accepted by the motorcycle community. I've used it several times on my previous bike and on my tractor and snow blower. Just remember to read the label and make sure that you are putting the right amount with the number of gallons you have.
  7. There seem to be a lot of people who likes FRAM filters and there are also those who dislike FRAM filters. I've been lucky so far (knocking on wood) that I've been using FRAM for the longest time on my cars and previous bike. My '95 SHO that has a Yamaha engine has almost 200K and lived on FRAM filters from day one. My '08 Prius has had 3 oil changes already and is currently living on FRAM filter. I still have a couple FRAM PH6017A left in my garage and may use that on my first oil change on the Venture.
  8. +1. No need to use a torque wrench. Just hand tighten and a 1/4 turn with the oil filter wrench.
  9. Sorry for the dark pics. I will post some good ones sometime this week. For now, I am riding her to and from work.
  10. Hello george_park. I have a buddy who owns a BMW and his headlight is also very blinding at any angle. It may really be your headlight aimed too high, but sometimes I doubt it if you have not made any adjustments previously. The best thing is to check it. I do like the aiming of my headlight as it is and it does light up the road + the light bar even on low beams. Wonder where you are in SE Pa. We live in Stewartstown near the MD/PA line.
  11. Thinking that the Purolator is a car oil filter, I found a link for FRAM motorcycle filters that will fit the Venture. It is FRAM motorcycle oil filter model PH6017A and it is the same filter that I used on my last bike...the Vulcan. Here is the link. http://www.rkexcelamerica.com/street_fram_yamaha.html I can buy this moto filter from my local Advance Auto store.
  12. I have sat on my friend's TD, but did not really notice the placement of the handlebars compared to my Venture. Just looking at the seat of the Venture, if feels comfortable and I can ride for many hours without getting sore. If you plan to get the TD, I highly recommend upgrading to a Venture seat.
  13. I called our local Advance Auto and they could not cross reference an oil filter except the K&N filter part KN303 or KN303C for my '07 Venture. Thanks to this thread, I can now ask for PL14612 (will stay with the stock size).
  14. Keith, I may order the carbtune soon. Thanks for the site in California. How about the meter to check for RPM/idle. What kind of meter did you get? I should find out exactly where the idle screw is in my Venture. Have you sync your carbs lately?
  15. The 'Carbtune' looks like a very nice tool. Is this special tool only available at Yamaha dealers?
  16. I plan to do my own maintenance for the 600 mile service recommendation. I can do the oil change, final drive oil, and do a whole lot of safety checks. There is one thing that I am not so sure off...is the carburetor synchronization. How is this accomplished? Is there a special tool? and/or is it necessary this early in the life of the motorcycle?
  17. There are still lots of good deals out there for a used or brand new Venture. I just got mine yesterday from a dealership in New Castle, PA. It was a 300 mile ride, but I really do not mind. For an '07 Blue Venture with 1 mile on the odometer and OTD price was $13500, I couldn't pass out the deal.
  18. I've had a V-Twin for a about 2 years and may never go back to a V-Twin as long as I have my RSV.
  19. I am just getting used to my Venture and you guys are right, this bike wants to be revved. There is a lot for me to learn about the bike...I normally would shift from 4th to 5th at 55 to 60 mph.
  20. I finally picked up my Blue Venture and she is a beauty. Saturday morning, I started early around 5 am and headed west to Pittsburgh, PA for a nice 300 mile ride. Once I got there at the dealership, I stayed for another hour and off I go with my new ride for another 300 mile run back home. I will post some pictures sometime Sunday or early Monday morning. Thanks for all your input....BTW, I am 5'5" and did not need to have my Venture lowered at all (glad I did not go that route). I can at least flat foot one side and the other with a little tip toe...I am just wearing my regular riding boots .
  21. 8K miles is too early for me to replace a spark plug. But if that is what the MOM recommend on the Venture, then it really has to be done at the correct interval. I am sure that after 10K to 15K the spark plugs are still fine. For a peace of mind, I would replace the plugs.
  22. I visited a Renegade Clothing store here in York County, PA. last night and they did have some boots and most Harley brands...but they did feel a little too heavy for me. I have a pair of steel toe boots with an 1'5" heel...so I hope this will do it for now.
  23. Sorry about that Spotsy, but looking on eBay...there seem to be more Ventures for sale. I think there are at least 2 '08's right now still up for grabs. Ride safe.
  24. Thanks, Skid. I can't wait to pick it up tomorrow. Before then, I am going to get myself a pair of boots with 2" heels. 73s and Regards.
  25. I just got off the phone with the dealership. Looking at the specs of the Tour Deluxe with a seat height of 29.1" and the Venture with 29.5", we are just looking at 0.4 inch difference.....(not even an inch higher)...So, I told the dealership to skip on lowering the bike and I will pick it up tomorrow around lunch time. I just have to find myself a riding boot with a 2 inch heel....either my local Harley dealership or our local Renegade clothing shop may carry them.
