  1. The install looks very nice and neat and does not take away a lot of space in the truck. I wish I can hear how the final product sounds. With the extra load on the electrical system, do you notice any dimming of lights at night? Just curious.
  2. Very interesting, Dennis. That makes sense that I may be getting the wrong amount of miles on my Venture using the speedo. I have an idea though...Santa gave me a GPS for X-Mas and I can use that to get an accurate reading of my miles travelled on the Venture. Before then, I still have to wait for the RAM mount that I ordered online so I can actually see the results. I really don't blame you at all...the mpg that you get on the Venture is definitely much better on the Tahoe. If I am not on my Venture, I ride my '08 Prius...so I stay on the 40+ mpg fuel consumption. Regards and ride safe.

    Rain Ride

I try to avoid the rain as much as possible. Glad to hear that you did great in the rain and was able to get your recommended maintenance. I've heard of Rain-X and this may work on the windshield during on a heavy downpour. Ride safe.
  4. Wizard, glad that you were not injured in that incident. I also almost went down on 'black ice' one cold morning riding to work. Same situation where some tall branches of trees shaded a portion of the road. I felt my front wheel slide as a slightly leaned to my right and thankfully my rear did not loose traction. Hope you can get your bike fixed soon. Take care.
  5. I am sorry to hear about the accident. I pray that you and your wife heal fast and recover back to normal. Keep close contact with your insurance and they might suggest for a repair first and then tow it back to your residence. Regards.
  6. I just ordered the same Genesis LED tail light for the Venture a few minutes ago. Originally I was going for the HD 68230-97B auxilliary light, but I kept changing my mind. I like it this way, since I did not have to mess with the wiring of my Venture. Your post inspired me to purchase one.
  7. That would be painful on my pocket. Be easy on the throttle and you may get better mpg. For some reason or another, gas prices here in the US is staying on the low side below $2.00 a gallon. No complaints on this end...
  8. Dennis, Your mpg numbers doesn't look too good. I've never seen your mpg above 40. Have you done the basic maintenance required for your Venture lately? Replace Spark Plugs, Synch Carbs, adjust idle, clean air filters, check tire pressure, and so on are some of the things that you can do yourself with the right equipment. Hope to see your mpg gradually go up...regards.
  9. I have filled up with the handle bar all the way to the left, right and middle position. As far as my mpg is concerned, as long as I get an idea as to how much mpg I get is good enough. If I see my mpg that drops below 30 mpg with no special circumstances, this will tell me right away that my Venture is sick. Thanks for your input.
  10. 45 mpg is good considering that the temp. is 34°. I may not see 45 mpg until it gets warm again in our area...possibly in 3 months time.
  11. Kawasaki fans are looking forward to the new Voyager. I have not seen one at a dealership yet, but have heard from a lot of Kawa forum members who went to Bike shows that the styling and the new size engine looks promising (1700 cc) V-Twin. We are planning to ride down to Chantilly, Va. this coming Saturday for the Bike Show...weather permitting and am also looking forward to actually see the Voyager in person.
  12. hey Goose, how do you fill up you Venture...handle bar all the way to the left or handle bar on the middle or handle bar all the way to the right? Or does it really matter?
  13. $1.35 for Regular is Very cheap. I am also enjoying the low price of gas in our area and I hope it stays that way.
  14. Now that is something that I didn't even think about...Nitrogen powered air tools. For $30 bucks per tank, homeowners may be able to store one in their garages.
  15. 240K for a '99 is impressive. This tells you that the Venture engine is capable given proper maintenance. What would really impress me is for someone to say that an '05 or say '06 Venture with over 200K miles...but this is just very unrealistic.
  16. From my last fill-up, I got 41.4 mpg which is not bad this winter. My cager's mpg had already taken a hit in this cold weather. Below is my overall stats and at least my average is still around 40 mpg... ________________________________________________ 40.4 mpg (US) 2007 Venture - Touring Yamaha Venture http://greenhybrid.com/compare/mileage/graphs/car.png?cid=7575&system=US This member began contributing at 313 mi / 36.0 mpg (US) and has driven 1,711 mi over 11 tanks since then for a total of 2,024 mi. 17. There has been a lot of talk in the Kawasaki forum for a long time now regarding Nitrogen gas added in tires. There are a number of users that support the idea, but it is just not practical yet. If I only own a gas station, I would add a coin operated machine (self-service) that will fill tires with Nitrogen as allowed by law.
  18. Your mileage is just impressive. That would be almost 4000 miles per month.
  19. I got mine on Oct. 11, 08 and I added a whopping 2023 miles to date.
  20. I rest my case.
  21. Happy New Year to all. May 2009 be better than 2008.
  22. Did you buy your bike used or brand new? Of the 19,998 miles, how many of those miles are actually yours? If they are all your miles, I rest my case for I will never break your record.
  23. I just had a feeling that NASCAR had thought about this before it is discussed here at VentureRider.org. I check my car tires and bike tires religiously every other week. I don't know if I am ready to add Nitrogen on my tires...perhaps once the idea is widely practiced by motorist, I will go ahead and follow the rest.
  24. This is the RAM Mount model that I found online for the handle bar...RAP-B-166-2-GA25U http://www.ram-mount.com/index_files/ramb149zga25.jpg
  25. I agree with you. Some people take off their GPS from the holder in the car, but they usually put it in the glove compartment or under the driver seat. If your car is parked in a bad spot, it is easy target and one may end up with a broken glass window.
