Congrats, a nice Ride and a very good Addition to the Stable !!

I might explain that before coming to the Point ... In Germany, 1500cc Gold Wings are often called "3-Room, Kitchen, one Bathroom" (translated to english), the 1800cc Wings are reffered to with "Air conditioned, 3Room, Kitchen, one Bathroom with Microwave Oven". Since the '93 VR is not that decked out like a GW, i call mine "Schrankwand". There's no a good Translation carring the Humor inside, but in english this would be "Living Room Wall Unit". My '99 has no real Name, maybe just "the Max". The '09 Max is named "Taxpayer's Revenge".

Nope, it's NOT, but then, the Difference is just the "K" .... :whistling:

This Otput Signal won't operate a V-Boost Servo. YOu need to feed the RPM Signal to the V-Boost Brainbox. This Blackbox operates the Servo, nothing else works. I believe, a 1bar Vacuum Sensor is not a very good Solution for Spark Advance Measurementson our Bikes. Maximum Vacuum you see at a Manifold is around -0.6 bar, so this Spread in Measuring Ranges you give away a Lot of Pressure/Voltage Ratio. -

When i say checked, i mean checked !! What Kind of Wiring Diagram would you like to have ? FJR ? German or English ? '06 YZF-R1 English or German ? '09 Vmax - US - German - UK - French - Spanish - Italian ? -
I'm sorry for your Crash. Hopefully your not hurt and you'll get you Damages covered along with a nice "unusable" Fee. Drag Racing is Fun, that's for sure, but it's also "Character building". It's not nice to be confronted with your very own Shortcomings with such a blunt Fact Sheet like a Time Slip as Evidence. :crying:

Thanks Earl, but it is really not a big Deal with the '09. I'm working on my Clutch Operation constantly, even lifted the front of the '93 on Purpose while getting off at a Light on Thursday. :whistling: I'll have my next "Fix" on October, 18th. Got my Registration and Start Number this Week. Sadly, it's only on a small Airport, so no VHt and it will be cold and i fear the rear Wheel will just brun up instead of pushing me forward. It still will be Fun and i'll have more Time Slips available... :bluesbrother:

Jason, you may be right in making us aware about Things you found in the Past, but it's an Issue here. This Shindengen R/R is mounted in a LOT of newer Yamaha's and Honda's and they are all wired the same, like the SaltyDod stated in the other Thread, and as the Spec Sheet says. I confirmed this on '09 Max and on the '06-recent FJR1300. No Sense Wire and connected through the Main Fuse to the Battery. -

Sounds very much like the Pick-Up Coils are giving up. Find the 5 Wire Connector at Frame at about below where your left Knee is when sitting on the Bike and check their Resistances according to the Manual. -

Yes, that's right. It sure would work with the Buckeye Stator too. I don't think it's needed to work with the high Output Stator, but seen from Technology only, this R/R is superior to the Stock Unit at both, 1Gen and 2Gen. -
You should be concerned ... about the Choice of your Daughter ? :fingers-crossed-emo

The had to drop them off the List, because the Bike doesn't meet European Pollution Laws anymore, just like 1Gen Vmax dropped out June 2006. They could sell leftovers until End of 2006 and with a special Waiver (seldom and only if lucky) until March 2007 then all was over ...

If you look into the Spec Sheet in the prior Thread mentioned right above, you'll see the Specs say up to 50 Amps if the Mounting Area is in a cooled and vented Surrounding. -

Mike, maybe it's an Combination of two Things. First the Parts are all new and not quite "seated in". The Rollers can be stuck because of small Burrs on the Flywheel Area which are quite usual and on top of that, when the Temperature is low, the new Parts might have a thight fit inside the Slots and can't be moved enough from the Springs to catch on the 72th Wheel. Add thicker Oil to this which sticks on the Contact Area and you have a perfectly lubricated and non operative Clutch Assembly. When Things have warmed up bit, the Slack gets bigger and the Springs have enough Force to push the Rollers onto their Contact Area and the Things works as they should. Wonderful Pics from your Past. I'm getting deeper into Drag Racing since i was at the Strip four Weeks ago. There's an open Bill for the '09 and me ...

Mike, to be honest, it's the first Time i hear thick Oil may be (actually is, as it looks now) hindering this one-Way-Clutch to do the Job. And I'm looking at this Starter Clutch Culprit since 3 Years or so. The Damage will be on the inner Area on the 72th Wheel were the Rollers run onto. The Rollers as well as the Contact Area develop flat Spots and there's where the Trouble starts to go downhill. I sure hope the thinner Oil will work for.

Great Job, thanks Dan !! !! !! -
Mike, as i read to Description, it's sad to say, but i think the 72th Wheel is shot on the long Term anyway. If the "thick Oil" or something else in the Starter Clutch Area caused the Culprit, doesn't matter anymore. If you spun the the Clutch for a extended Period of Time or the Clutch stayed engaged and was driven by the Crank Shaft, the Connection Area on the Collar is ruined and will start to fail sooner than later. I'm sorry to say, but the stock 1Gen 72th Wheel (or Vmax) won't fit to the updated Starter Clutch. The "Clutch Area" (Collar) has a different Diameter. The Upgrade-Kit contents a new Starter Clutch Assembly which operates on 18 Elipse-shaped Clutch Parts instead of 3 Rollers on a Vmax/1Gen stock Clutch. Also, the mounting of this Clutch Assembly is different, so the Flywheel needs to be modified to accept the new Assembly. Because you need a special designed Jig and some specal Tools, this is not what a average Guy has at home, you'll need to send the Flywheel to Dan and let him do the Job. I designed the Mod mostly for my Vmax Buddies, because it's a major Hassle there, some of them did go through 3 or 4 complete new Assemblies within 8 Years. Undisputed Record Holder is a Guy which runs a 1600 cc high compression Motor with EFI and chain drive converted Max. The Bike ate 3 Starter Clutches per Season(8 Months). With the Help of my Setup the Oddessy PC 680 broke down ....

Doubled up the clutch spring.
Squeeze replied to uncledj's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You can't ruin anything inside the Motor or on the Drive Train with a stock 1300c Motor by the Twist of the Grip and not dumping the Clutch. No need to hesitate.
