  1. I'm glad i could help you out by NOT buying your Bike. Congrats on the regained Sense !!
  2. How much of these Megasquirt Systems have you adapted to Vehicles ? What exactly is your Opinion in "setting A/F Ratio correctly" ? 14.7 ? 17 ? 13 ?
  3. Those EFI's from Wild Bros. are not only nice but also add some serious Power ... Megasquirt is a "cheap Way" to get a decent Computer, only downside is you'll have to program it from scratch, that's very Time consuming and there are a Lot of Possiblities to screw Things up, either momentary or forever.
  4. Also not true. I'm sorry to say, but a1bummer is right. In a perfect World, the ABS Regulation would relief the exact Amount of hydraulic Brake Pressure from the Line to keep the Wheel rotating, just before skidding. Even the latest Systems are not that perfect, they will allways take of more Pressure off than needed, thus you will have a increased Stopping Distance. But, if you only look at the sheer Braking Manoveur, a little Skidding is better for the Stopping Distance than not braking with full Force. A top Class Racer will still outbrake any standard ABS System. If a ABS is designed for Racing Purpose, the Software will allow some Amount of skidding and sliding and it will be hard for a human to outbrake that System over a lenghty Period of Time. The real Advantage of the newer ABS Systems on Bikes are on the different Side, this should also been in the Arcticle about the CBR mentioned above. Who actually can apply full Braking Force, in other Words GRAB a HANDFULL of front Brake while going 70 or 100 mph. There's the pure Advantage. If you know you can do this and you got yourself trained to do so, you will have gained a much better Stopping Distance. If not, you won't have the best stopping Distance for one Reason or the other.
  5. I'm sorry to hear about the Mishap. Send your Flywheel over to Dano, he will take care of your Starter Clutch Problem once and for all Times. Regarding the Clutch ... now, some new Leathers may be in Order.
  6. Well, you got that all wrong. The Way i see it, they really like you, that why the behave the Way they do. Imagine how it would feel if they don't like you ....
  7. The Nature of an AC Current is that it is waveing between Peak high, zero Voltage and Peak low. The EFI-Computer senses the missing Tooth as a Peak Level with an unusual Lenght and therefore interpreting this unusual Lenght as the Point which it refers to. The Computer usually not only operates on the Peak Levels, but takes Zero as it is (Value = 0) and uses both Peaks to compute. This means, by moving one Tooth and one Gap next to the Sensor you're generating more Signals. When starting in the middle of the Gap, Level is Peak low, when the start of Thooth is in Range, the Voltage goes up through Zero Level and reaching Peak high. These are three Signals. When the Thooth leaves the Sensor, the Level will fall through Zero and reaching Peak Low. Another two Signals created. What this Point means to the EFI, is up to the Software and the Definition thereof. I. E. it could define TDC on 1st Cylinder. I added two Pics from a EFI Vmax. You can clearly see the missing Thooth. You can disregard the Enlightment of this heavily modyfied Rotor (weights only 1.6 kilogramm, stock is 3.8 kg) and the new (and never ever again) Starter Clutch Assembly.
  8. uhhh .... ohhh ..... How do i say this without offending anyone ..... I meant the Guy who posted 5 or 6 Posting in a Row. In other Words ... you, Dan ... :whistling: :bluesbrother:
  9. 25 Post Count Deduction Penalty for Flooding ??
  10. Well, you can feel my Problem and Pain ... The '09 is hoot to ride, but compared to my (seriously altered) '99 Max it's a heavy Piece of Metal and a Lot less flickable than the '99. The '93 VR will get a complete Vmax Engine this Winter, this will make the Decision even harder. But I'm looking forward to it anyway. :whistling: I love all four of my Rides, but the CX500turbo looses most of the Time.
  11. 160? Would that be my speed or my blood pressure? Why do you ask, you should know the Answer already by yourself !!!! Both, of Course !!!
  12. Well, there's no need to go after Folks who offer a different Opinion. Maybe the Words where just some Sort of Humor without placing a Smiely. I for one prefer to pay a small Amount of Money and enjoy this ad-free Board. Ads take a Lot of Time to load and just a by this, it's just a Waste of Resources and my Time. Layered Ads is an even bigger pita.
  13. Hey, i got a 34hp Reduction Kit for a Vmax lying around ...
  14. Mount some 17 Inch Rims on your Vmax and you'll go well up above 160 ... :whistling: But this would bring he RpM's back to were they've been.
  15. I think that's a great Idea and well executed for the Board.
  16. I'm quite familiar with the Prices in US. Let me tell you, 15,000 Bucks IS dirt cheap for a mostly slightly used Bike, even when considering the MSRP on the 2010 Model is 19,500 or so.. (I payed 16,500 Euro plus 19 Percent VAT here in January and with today's Exchange Rate this would be around 27,500 USD) Granted, it's a LOT of Money, but once you've ridden one, not one single Buck of the Amount payed is too much spent. It's a fantastic Ride and it's much more than anyone could expect from such a huge and heavy Bike.
  17. Here's a Pic from Patents which Yamaha placed in 2008during Development of the VMAX ... Does this look as a current VMAX ? So, make you own Conclusions. If i'd be in US, i'd buy a used 2009VMAX and make my own Tourer out of it. They sell dirt cheap currently. I'd invest some Brain Time and around 4000 Bucks and be done with a unique 200 hp long Distance Tourer.
  18. Yes, they did, the Modelwas called CBX here in Europe. Don't know if they sold it in US and Canada too. One should think so.
  19. How come ?? :whistling::bluesbrother:
  20. Google for Julian Beever, he's the King in this Kind of Art.
  21. and NO Ice Cream after Dinner too !!
  22. That's intentional Manslaughter in my Opinion.
  23. We had too much Discussion about the Issue and i won't go into this so deep again. The only Thing I'm going to say, the Clearances Yammi states are the Clearances at that specific Points of the Cam. These specific Points are NOT in the "round" Part of the Cam Profile. And Skydoc_17 added, most Cams are fabricated to a lower than the "round" Base Profile. If you know it all better, go ahead and keep telling our Members here how to set the Valve Clearances too low.
  24. Please don't do that. It's the wrong Place on the Cam to check for Clearance. All you need to do while turning the Crank ist to get to TDC on the Cylinder you're checking.
  25. The Bike handles great, the Rider is overdoing it and he's got enough Respekt to not doing even more stupid Things. I've had some Opportunities to make Sport Bike Riders cry in the Black Forrest. Getting out of any Curve while leaving black Marks on the Tarmac is not a hard Task, you twist your right Hand and it will come...
