Now, what do you expect .... ... your Bike and a Beach, snow covered or not .... Ask me again End of March or so

Crankshaft, Con Rods, Pistons, Cams, Valves and Valve Springs, Gearing are the main Differences. V-Boost is to fill the Needs in the upper RPM Range, V-Boost alone gives me 10 Percent more Power. It was 80 kw with V-Boost off, 88 kw with V-Boost on, on stock Settings (starting opening on 5750 RpM) on the rear Wheel on my '99 Vmax

I won't need it, i already have a '99 and a '85 Motor in the Shop ... But not for long, the '99 will go into my '93 VR more sooner than later. I wanna built an hybrid out the 1300 cc VR Engine and the Heads from the '85 Motor for the 1Gen Max. So this will be the first Step into that Direction .... You know, Power is corrupting ....:whistling:

I "know" this since maybe a Year ago ... It's only adevrtised on our TV-Stations I'm not going to be there, because of no Time, Money better spent else and TV-Coverage of most, if not any Sports Events is much better than actually being there. But i'm a Sports Freak and i'll be hanging in front of the TV from 6 p.m, to 6 a.m. local Time each Night ... Maybe I'm able to chat on VR.org during this Event. That usually isn't happening because of the Time Difference.

The stock Starter Clutch is a one Way Clutch which uses three spring loaded Rollers the connect to the big 72th Gear Wheel which is the last Gear in the line of several Gears coming from the Stater Motor. These 3 Rollers connect (in Fact they run) to the inner Area of the Wheel by spring Force and clamping Force. This whole Assembly sits in a Housing which is bolted to the Flywheel with 3 Bolt in M8 Thread. Over Time, these Bolts tend to get a little bit loose plus the Rollers and the Surface they're running at develop some flat Spots and chattering Marks too. This is the common Scenario where the Problem starts to get heard. If the Battery is cold and/or isn't in the best Shape anymore, the Rollers can't "bite" strong enough to the connecting Area and the Clutch lets go for a half a Turn. If The Rollers bite on a chattering Mark or a flat Spot the Connection they may hold on or let loose again. This Movement creates the hammering Sound and puts a Lot of more Force on the loose Bolts. This, of Course, allows even more uncontrolled Movement of the Clutch Assembly and a even more dysfunctional Clutch. As an nasty Side Effect, the Clutch can, and i know of two Cases where it actually did, cause the Starter to act as an Generator because the One Way Clutch wasn't a Clutch anymore but a solid Connection. This caused the Starter Motor to burn down on both Cases. I suspect a Lot more of these Cases, but there's not enough reliable Data for me to make a final Call. I've seen a Lot of these Clutches and not one of them was even partially reusable. I have Buddies which tried to reuse some Parts, but they did the Job twice or even three Times in the End. I know a Bunch of Guys with heavily modified Engines, meaning 1500 cc Vmaxxes at least, and each and everybody of them had their Share of Head Ache in this Regard. The Record Holder of those is the Guy with a 1600 cc High Compression Motor who needed three complete Starter Clutch Assemblies each Season. So, in the End, you have two Options to get the Job done First Option is to buy a complete Set of new Parts, not just the small Set of Rollers, Springs, Caps, but also three Bolts, the Housing and the 72th Wheel, mount the Assembly exactly in centered Position to the Fly Wheel, red Loctite the Threads of the Bolts and don't forget to punch the End of Threads with a Center Punch. Then cross your Fingers, say a Prayer or both and hit the Starter Button after completing the Install. Feel good about the cheap (around 185 Bucks for the Parts) Repair but you need to keep the Procedure in Mind, because most likely you'll do that again some Time later. Or Second Option Send your Rotor over to Dano in a 12x10x5 Inch Package, get it back with the Gaskets, don't worry about having the Clutch Assembly mounted exactly centered to the Flywheel, just mount the Rotor and the new 72th Wheel and have a good Time while being a happy Camper. This is because Dano will mount a much more sophisticated Clutch Assembly, which uses 18 Ellipses instead of three Rollers. The Ellipsis are spring loaded too and because of their Shape, not only bite at the 72th Wheel, but lock up the Connection between Rotor and 72th Wheel. Because of the ellipsoid Design, you won't need to worry about burning down your Starter Motor. I sure you weren't worried about that before, but it's good to be sure anyway. Not to mention, getting the Flywheel off the Crank Shaft can be a ... well ... how do it say this ... pita ... Yes, this Upgrade is more expensive than Option 1 and it will need a little bit more of Downtime because of the Transit Times of the Parcel. But you'll be a happy Camper and never think about the Starter Clutch Issue again. Oh, except maybe the Times somebody tells you his 1Gen or Vmax produces a hammering Sound upon starting ... -

I'm sorry, I'm not Dano and No, i didn't see the Post he mentioned above. But i could answer most of your Questions in the Meantime. I know a bit or two about the Mod. -
You're absolutely right, I'm totally with you. It's not wise to take such a Fight. But .... On the other Hand, this Deputy should make into Fox News, just because to show others likewise minded People that they're won't get through with such Actions. If all People with a somewhat normal Mindset(this of Course depends and is an Issue on it's own) let all these Things go, you know where will end end up ? Sad to say, but true ... In todays World ....

I'd fight to get my Money back and an Apology. All the Way up to the Supreme Court, if necessary.

Annie, good to see you back here. Even if it's under those miserable Circumstances, i'm glad to hear from you. Take your Time and watch your Leg very closely and I'm sure you'll be back on the Road. Might take some Time, but you're a strong Lady and this Day will come.

Well, that Max (called Evil Relikt) is quite a Thing. It's Mark's latest Creation and has been sold beginning last Year. You can surf the Website and see how he made it ... http://www.schusters-bike.de/html/evil_relikt.html The Brakes are coming off a Buell XB12, the Fork is from a Kawa ZX 12, the Rim itself is '85 Vmax, modified to 17 Inch and to take the 425mm Rotors. Rear Wheel is 12.5 Inch with a 360/30 Tire or so ... This Width is not my Cup of Tea, but i love the Look. This is a ridden Bike, not a Show Bike, Mark as well as the new Owner put several thousand Miles a Year on it. While you're staring at the Pics, look out for the Tank ... Mark isn't a Internet Type of Guy, so he has not so much Text in there, but each Button on the left leads to some real impressive Pics of his Work and Art... He's very creative and i truely admire his Style and Imagination as much as his mechnical Skills. The Engine Jobs mentioned above are from another Guy, though.

1500 cc Big Bore is usually 85 mm Piston Diameter with wet Sleeves. A Buddy of mine built a Motor with 90 mm Pistons, but needed to built "Bridges" for the Water Jackets on the Outside of the Casing because even the Sleeves where outside the casted Parts of the Cylinder. Here are Pics from a Chain Drive Conversion ... http://www.schusters-bike.de/html/motorumbau.html http://www.schusters-bike.de/assets/images/Evel_Relikt_titel.jpg Here are the 90mm Pics in the pdf-file... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=12864&d=1192637918

Activists Missing After Declaring “War on Leather” at Motorcycle Rally Posted on January 07, 2010. Tags: activists, Animal Activists, blood, fur, motorcycle gangs, motorcycle rally, peta, protesters Posted by Fuzzy Duffy http://glossynews.com/wp-content/themes/gazette/thumb.php?src=http://glossynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/crazy-man-tied-to-tree_01.jpg&h=300&w=300&zc=1&q=90Johnstown, PA (GlossyNews) – Local and state police scoured the hills outside rural Johnstown, Pennsylvania, after reports of three animal rights activists going missing after attempting to protest the wearing of leather at a large motorcycle gang rally this weekend. Two others, previously reported missing, were discovered by fast food workers “duct taped inside several fast food restaurant dumpsters,” according to police officials. “Something just went wrong,” said a still visibly shaken organizer of the protest. “Something just went horribly, horribly, wrong.” The organizer said a group of concerned animal rights activist groups, “growing tired of throwing fake blood and shouting profanities at older women wearing leather or fur coats,” decided to protest the annual motorcycle club event “in a hope to show them our outrage at their wanton use of leather in their clothing and motor bike seats.” “In fact,” said the organizer, “motorcycle gangs are one of the biggest abusers of wearing leather, and we decided it was high time that we let them know that we disagree with them using it…ergo, they should stop.” According to witnesses, protesters arrived at the event in a vintage 1960’s era Volkswagen van and began to pelt the gang members with balloons filled with red colored water, simulating blood, and shouting “you’re murderers” to passers by. This, evidently, is when the brouhaha began. “They peed on me!!!” charged one activist. “They grabbed me, said I looked like I was French, started calling me ‘La Trene’, and duct taped me to a tree so they could pee on me all day!” “I…I was trying to show my outrage at a man with a heavy leather jacket, and he…he didn’t even care. I called him a murderer, and all he said was, ‘You can’t prove that.’ Next thing I know he forced me to ride on the back of his motorcycle all day, and would not let me off, because his girl friend was out of town and I was almost a woman.” Still others claimed they were forced to eat hamburgers and hot dogs under duress. Those who resisted were allegedly held down while several bikers “farted on their heads.” Police officials declined comments on any leads or arrests due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, however, organizers for the motorcycle club rally expressed “surprise” at the allegations. “That’s preposterous,” said one high-ranking member of the biker organizing committee. “We were having a party, and these people showed up and were very rude to us. They threw things at us, called us names, and tried to ruin the entire event. So, what did we do? We invited them to the party! What could be more friendly than that? You know, just because we are all members of motorcycle clubs does not mean we do not care about inclusiveness. Personally, I think it shows a lack of character for them to be saying such nasty things about us after we bent over backwards to make them feel welcome.” When confronted with the allegations of force-feeding the activists meat, using them as ad hoc latrines, leaving them incapacitated in fast food restaurant dumpsters, and ‘farting on their heads,’ the organizer declined to comment in detail. “That’s just our secret handshake,” assured the organizer.
