  1. The Mileage is about right. You can get mid or high 30's when you stay under 2.8k. fystein did the extraterestrial Highway this Year and cam through with a half gallon left in the Tank after 160 mls or so. But it's not funny riding it this Way. The Mapping is on the rich Side to say it at least. YOu can correct this with an Cat Eliminator or a Powercommander, or even both. But let's face it, there are nearly 1.7 Liter to fill ... I mounted a bigger Aftermarket Tank and I'm happy with the 20.5 Liters it carries. The biggest Tank is nearly 25 Liters now. I know that, because I'm talking a Lot with the Guy who does those Tanks.

  3. Condor's right for our Engines. And for most Engines too. Engineers measure Fuel Consumption of a specific Motor in Consumption per kw used in a specified Time. The Formula would be gal/kwh or gal./hph. If you see the Curve on a Sheet you typically will find a hyperbolic Curve with the lowest Point of the Curve somewhere in the middle of the kw(x-Axis). The relative Consumption is bigger at lower and higher Power. I added a Sheet which i found on the Internet. Take a look at the upper Curve. http://www.toni-clark.com/bilder/motoren/zg20/ZG20_Verbrauch_e.gif So if you run your Motor at higher Speeds and forcing the Motor to a lower RpM, you will need more Power to maintain Speed, thus using more Fuel. Since Power IS always RpM-related, you will hurt your Mileage when your "lugging" the Motor, because at lower RpM, the Motor isn't able to produce as much Power as needs to maintain Speed at a low Fuel Consumption.
  4. Yes, but that not "approximate", it's a Fact. :whistling:
  5. http://cgi.ebay.de/3D-CNC-ROUTER-MILLING-MACHINE-Plasma-Cutter-TOP_W0QQitemZ260334781836 That might fill your Needs
  6. A Buddy of mine sent me his recently bought and expensive ISR Brake Master Cylinder. Piston was stuck in there to the Point where i had to use 6 bar/87 psi of compressed Air to blow it out of the Boring. The O-Ring which is the first rubber Part seen from outside was swollen up to twice the normal Size. Just a little Spray of Ballistol (Gun Cleaning Spray/Multi Purpose, similar to WD40) .....
  7. This is the Cause of your Problem. When the Piston doesn't return on it's own, Either the Spring inside is broken or gone, the Piston sticks in the Boring for whatever Reason.
  8. Yes, it's not a funny Job but it really pays out immediately. Just get it done and be safe. Don't buy cheap Aftermarket Bearings. Get them from Yammi or, at least, buy high Quality Brand Bearings from Timken, FAG, INA or KOYO. Industrial Numbers are 32005x and 32006X. But if you go with industrial Bearings, you need to save the rubber Seal beneath the lower Bearing for reuse. If you want to go the extra Mile, grind the Area of the Bearing Seats a little bigger and glue the outer Races in Place with Loctite 648. This will give you a perfect round shaped outer Race and a perfectly adjustable Steering. The stock Seats are NOT ROUND, if you hammer the new Races in Place, the Races will be slightly bent by the Seats and this will cause the Bearings to fail premature again.
  9. On a 2Gen, the RpM raises about 420 RpM, because the 5th Gear Ratio is different to the 1Gen Ratio. If i had a 2Gen, i'd organize a Vmax/FJR Unit somewhere and just mount it, forgetting the Speedo Sensor for this Test. Once i've had determined if i like it, i'd made a Hole for the Speedo Sensor in the Vmax Casing on my Mill. But that's only me. Being the Speed Freak i am and made this swap on my '99 Vmax more than once, i say the shorter Gear Ratio is my Choice for my Ride. And, unless your emptying the Tank on the Superslab at full Throttle, you won't notice much a Change in Fuel Consumption. That a proven Fact for my Ride.
  10. Don't take it to your Heart Dan, Brad moved away and thinks he's safe out there ... :whistling:
  11. The only Master Cylinder that i know of, which would fill your needs is a M/C from ISR Brakes. It's a swedish Company and those M/C's are designed to operate at first: adjusting the Lever/Force Ratio and second: adjusting the Lever Position to the Handle Bar. There're NOT cheap, though. You can expect them to be in the 450 USD Area each. http://www.isr-brakes.se/products/mastercylinders/21-012.shtml or, operated with a external Reservoir this one ... http://www.isr-brakes.se/products/mastercylinders/21-014.shtml I have them on my '99 Max and i managed to get a Lot of them for my Vmax Buddies over here. Their Website is not up to date, but they have what you'll need, 17,5mm Piston Diameter for operating the Clutch Slave and available in both Handle Bar Diameters, 7/8"(1Gen) or 1 Inch(2Gen). You'll need one or even two hydraulic Switches to operate Starting the Bike in Gear and switching the Cruise Control if your Bike has this.
  12. 3 Percent is the commonly acknowledged Number on Tire Slippage at Speeds above 50 mph. Of Course, you're right, with Load, Tire Diameter, Rubber Compound and what not else Parameters come into play here, but if you use the 3 Percent, you won't be far off in your Calculations. It's near enough and better than not using any correcting Factor if you need a Result near Reality.
  13. but you need to compute around 3 Percent Tire Slippage within your Calculation.
  14. Not that i'm envy or something like that ... :whistling: Good to hear you Home safe and sound and it really sounds like you had a good Ride and another AdVenture ...
  15. You forgot to mention, after letting them soak over NIght get on the Ride and ride the C..p out of it. Ride it like you stole it, just doesn't cut it. Ride your Bike like you hate it. Skydoc_17 did this after i told him to do so, after getting on it all Day, all of sudden it ran like it was on a deep Shot of NOS.
  16. There is NO Rev Limiter inside the Electronics on any 1Gen Venture or 1Gen Vmax. Do the 10 Grand more often and you're in for lenghtened Con Rod and need some Work to do. Especially with the larger 1300cc Pistons. The Valve Springs are different(lighter Spring Force) to the Vmax Springs and that's why the 1Gen's have redline at 8.5k instead of 9.5k where the Vmax Redline is.
  17. Here's a Picture ... [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41867]Thumb Brake Working Well......... - VentureRider.Org[/ame]
  18. You are SO Right ... Andit gets even better ... The 10 Percent which are NOT Water make a whole Lot of a Difference between Beers too !!!
  19. Condor, I'm sorry to hear, sure would have been a good Deal. And i'd rather seeing it stacking up in your Garage .... But if a Member got that Deal, it's fine for me. Besides that, I'm guilty of "just buying" too ...
  20. Wow, are you ging to make a Career out of it ?? Stealing i mean .... :bluesbrother: :bluesbrother: Nice Catch !!
  21. Hey, what's the Matter ?? You're ought to stand up while doing such Wheelies!!! :happy34:
  22. Yes, this Starter will fit any V4. But based on the Parts-No, it's the "weaker" 2-Brush Starter, the 4-Brush Motor ist # 1FK-81890-00-0. I think even a 2Gen Starter Motor will fit too.
  23. That's what we see over here. The Ecomomy is down and yet Delivery Times go up. Partly tremendously. That's because everybody keeps the Inventory low and when a Order comes in, the Work Power might be there to do something but you can't get needed Materials any soon. This goes throughout the whole Range of Products. It's unbelieveable in first Place, but when you acknowlegde the Logic behind this, it's normal. This will fall on our Feet soon.
  24. What Kind of Sense would it make to NOT invest in Future Products ? I you can't sell what you already have, how will you sell them same Stuff in the Future. They have to increase their Efforts to regain the Focus of their Customers. Of Course, this goes along with the Down Fall of the Ecnomy and you have to adjust between cutting down and investing in the right Departments. That why i run the Average of the last 4 Years for judging my own Numbers. I do this since 8 Years and it gives you a much better Basis on saying where you really are. We had a horrible last Year, but there have been several temporary Issues. If i'd compare only this Year with last Year, like the Bankers like to do, we would have exploding Earnings, but actually they're not so much of "exploding" if you lost a half of a Fortune last Year. This MBA-like Point of View isn't the best Way of looking at your Balance. I prefer mine and deal with those short-termed Babblers. They might be gone next Year anyway ...
  25. It's a Thumb Brake Master Cylinder and Annie's operating the rear Brakes with it, since she can't use her right Foot to do so.
