  1. Warden gave me permission this morning to go get the Trike in Hendersonville for 20k. Screw it!! I think I'll pile all this junk up and let her have her yard sale!
  2. This is a question to those that change their own tires. How do you recycle the used tires? What I have been doing is to wait until my son has a car headed for the junk yard, and just put it in the trunk. Trouble is, he hasn't had a car to junk lately. Frank D.
  3. After being married for 40 years, I took a careful look at my wife oneday and said, "Forty years ago we had a cheap house, a junk car, slept on a sofa bedand watched a 10-inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep everynight with a hot 23-year-old girl. Now ... I have a $500,000.00 home, a $35,000.00 car, a nice big bedand a large screen TV, but I'm sleeping with a 63-year-old woman. It seems to me that you're not holding up your side of things." My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find ahot 23-year-old girl and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap house, driving a junk car, sleeping on a sofa bedand watching a 10-inch black and white TV. Aren't older women great? They really know how to solve an old guy's problems.
  4. E-Mail Tracker Programs -- very interesting and a must read! The man that sent this information is a computer tech. He spends a lot of time clearing the junk off computers for people and listens to complaints about speed. All forwards are not bad, just some. Be sure you read the very last paragraph. He wrote: By now, I suspect everyone is familiar with snopes.com and/or truthorfiction.com for determining whether information received via email is just that: true/false or fact/fiction. Both are excellent sites. Advice from snopes.com VERY IMPORTANT!! 1) Any time you see an email that says "forward this on to '10' (or however many) of your friends", "sign this petition", or "you'll get bad luck" or "you'll get good luck" or "you'll see something funny on your screen after you send it" or whatever --- it almost always has an email tracker program attached that tracks the cookies and emails of those folks you forward to. The host sender is getting a copy each time it gets forwarded and then is able to get lists of 'active' email addresses to use in SPAM emails or sell to other spammers. Even when you get emails that demand you send the email on if you're not ashamed of God/Jesus --- that is email tracking, and they are playing on our conscience. These people don't care how they get your email addresses - just as long as they get them. Also, emails that talk about a missing child or a child with an incurable disease "how would you feel if that was your child" --- email tracking. Ignore them and don't participate! 2) Almost all emails that ask you to add your name and forward on to others are similar to that mass letter years ago that asked people to send business cards to the little kid in Florida who wanted to break the Guinness Book of Records for the most cards. All it was, and all any of this type of email is, is a way to get names and 'cookie' tracking information for telemarketers and spammers -- to validate active email accounts for their own profitable purposes. You can do your Friends and Family members a GREAT favor by sending this information to them. You will be providing a service to your friends. And you will be rewarded by not getting thousands of spam emails in the future! Do yourself a favor and STOP adding your name(s) to those types of listing regardless how inviting they might sound! Or make you feel guilty if you don't! It's all about getting email addresses and nothing more. You may think you are supporting a GREAT cause, but you are NOT! Instead, you will be getting tons of junk mail later and very possibly a virus attached! Plus, we are helping the spammers get rich! Let's not make it easy for them! ALSO: Email petitions are NOT acceptable to Congress of any other organization - i.e. social security, etc. To be acceptable, petitions must have a "signed signature" and full address of the person signing the petition, so this is a waste of time and you are just helping the email trackers. Tips for Handling Telemarketers Three Little Words That Work!! (1)The three little words are: 'Hold On, Please...' Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead of hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much more time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt. Then when you eventually hear the phone company's 'beep-beep-beep' tone, you know it's time to go back and hang up your handset, which has efficiently completed its task. These three little words will help eliminate telephone soliciting.. (2) Junk Mail Help: When you get 'ads' enclosed with your phone or utility bill, return these 'ads' with your payment.Let the sending companies throw their own junk mail away. When you get those 'pre-approved' letters in the mail for everything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the return envelope. Most of these come with postage-paid return envelopes, right? It costs them more than the regular 44 cents postage, 'IF' and when they receive them back. It costs them nothing if you throw them away! The postage was around 50 cents before the last increase and it is according to the weight. In that case, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little, postage-paid return envelopes. One of Andy Rooney 's (60 minutes) ideas. Send an ad for your local chimney cleaner to American Express. Send a pizza coupon to Citibank. If you didn't get anything else that day, then just send them their blank application back! If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn't on anything you send them. You can even send the envelope back empty if you want to just to keep them guessing! It still costs them 44 cents. The banks and credit card companies are currently getting a lot of their own junk back in the mail, but folks, we need to OVERWHELM them. Let's let them know what it's like to get lots of junk mail, and best of all they're paying for it...Twice! Let's help keep our postal service busy since they are saying that e-mail is cutting into their business profits, and that's why they need to increase postage costs again. You get the idea! If enough people follow these tips, it will work I have been doing this for years, and I get very little junk mail anymore.

  6. Can anybody tell me what the heck this thing is and what it's for? I've been doing some cleaning out of old junk at my Father-in-law's farm and came across it. Thanks, Bill
  7. I think I'd want to buy one of these bikes for fun (Kikker Hardknock). Apparently its around $2000, comes in a kit that you have to build yourself. I don't know if its junk or what, but it sure looks pretty! It probably weighs as much as one of my saddle bags off my RSTD. http://www.kikker5150.com/200.17.jpg
  8. I am looking for a junk headset that someone may want to part with. I need the mic from one that goes in an open face helmet. I have a new Elite series 584 for a full face and the mic is just a wire so I need to have the boom mic so I can attach it to it for an open face. Hope this all makes sense.
  9. I picked up an 83 venture needing lots of work, I put 87 carbs on so do I have to change the 83 CDI to a newer type work with the 87 carbs, 83 carbs are junk, bike is not on the road as yet, thanks.
  10. Anybody have a " Good " Exhaust Canister for 1st Gen for Sale ?? No Junk please---
  11. I was reading through a thread a while back about this Power Enhancer product.. On their site they have a "store finder" which was for naught because of all the 14 shops I called, none of them listed on the site ever heard of the product.. BAH.. I hate that.. So I found a lad online selling it and bought it.. I fired off an email to the company complaining how bogus their store finder was etc.. Many people stated how impressed they were with it etc.. using the 44K to clean out the carb system and all.. most likely works better than Seafoam as I think Goose stated he noticed a yellow tinge to the floats when he adjusts them. I got a phone call this morning from the local BG rep who got my email response and took time to explain to me about their products and what they can do and what they can't do and what he can do to help me out etc etc.. He also stated that the BG products aren't usually SOLD in the parts dept of the stores, but it's a service sold at the service dept.. that's who you have to ask to get it.. I explained to him about using 44K to 'clean the junk out' of the carbs and fuel system.. He stated that 44K is expensive.. you can use it once a year but follow up 2 or 3 times a year with their supercharge products which is a lot less expensive.. the 44k will blast away the junk and the supercharge will keep it clean.. On top of all that, he's going to set me up with a proper cleaning solution of theirs specifically to run through the bike to properly clean out the system. Most likely do the same thing as some people do with just straight up 44K but this formulation he mentions is a cleaning solution for that task. So I'll keep you informed on how it works and so on.. I just thought it interesting that he would call to set me straight about the store finder thing.. but then get into a full bike discussion using their product.. On a 22L (6 Gal) bike tank of gas, he recommended using only 1/3 of the can of 44K to do the job. I mentioned that some people run a quick burst of 44k through the fuel feed line as a super cleaner.. this is where he mentioned about doing me up a proper formulation for cleaning.. Though 44K is a cleaner, a powerful one, there's something actually better.. After I've gone through my initial online cans, I'll know where to go to get more.. just 3 miles down the road from here.. guh. When you put this stuff in your car or bike, you won't see the improvement until the next tank, after the junk had been cleared out.. then after that you should actually see a 10 - 20% improvement.. The older the vehicle, the better of course.. Interesting info..
  12. I've decided to get some headsets but the more I read the more confused I get. I would rather be cordless but from what I read Bluetooth won't really get me connected to the bikes audio. Maybe there is an adapter for that but I really haven't seen that there is. Anyway, I've decided to go corded but I'd like some advice from those who know. I would like to stay around $100 per headset but if there is nothing but junk at that price then I have no problem buying the better ones. I'll give you as much info as I can... '07 RSV Helmets will be shorty or 1/2 helmets. I plan on buying Mic-mutes. Ok friends, advise away!
  13. Realizing that most of us with any sense ride rice burners, my son has a 2002 Superglide Harley, carborated, and his gas tank has sprung a leak. Buying a new one cost too much on a marine's paycheck, especially since he just found out this week he will be a daddy again (boy this time). Any ideas where we might be able to find a used tank? Do they have junk yards, etc for motorcycles? I know I'm scratching in the dark, but what the heck. You guys and gals have come through before I thought I would try again. Thanks.
  14. I finally got around to checking carbs on my latest 83 XVZ12. All carbs would sync except one. Thought maybe the diaphram was bad but it was fine. The slider had many cracks in it and had appeared to be glue togather. Does anybody have a set of junk carbs laying around with a good slider I can buy. If not, any idea where to get something like that?
  15. I really dont want to remove the tank to do it, but I am sure that the lower part of the tank is full of junk from the last 25 years of it's life. I only had the bike for a year now but I have never opened the reserve valve and dont want to if there is junk in there. And good tips on how to clean all that out and drain it to a bucket? also where is the fuel filter? I cant find it.
  16. Did you have any signs that it was going bad, or was that the problem? I am just asking because my key gets hot, never had any problems with it, but I don`t really want to get out in the middle of nowhere and have it go to junk on me.. Kreg:confused07:
  17. Tire came apart today on one of the guys bikes today. The rear tire lost a 6 X 4 inch chunk. Man that was scary for him and the rest of us who were riding around him. Man those tires are JUNK he only had he said 1k miles on them. I was glad I got rid of them and went to AVON................Ron
  18. I've got an '89 VR. I'm looking for the rubber boot that's supposed to cover the linkage on my shifter. It somehow magically disappeared while in the shop...I'm thinking I probably want to keep road junk out of there! If anybody's got an extra, let me know what you want for it...thanks!
  19. Hi, I just installed a Wilson Flex 3' antenna and want a fold-down mount so I can cover the bike. I've read some posts here about this, one of which said the 203EZ mount was too sloppy; Hugbare said some are, some aren't. I took my chances and ordered one with the antenna. It's junk. It looks nice, but allows the tip of the antenna to wiggle around about 2". I've only found a couple alternatives: - There is a similar looking unit called an AUFO - Accessories Unlimited Fold Over. Do any of you know if it's just the same junk part in different packaging from a different distributor? - The Firestik DV series mounts (with the wingnut) are my second choice, but it seems that Firestik is discontinuing at least some of them. The DV-SBS with the spring seems to still be available, but I didn't really want a spring. I guess it would be OK. DV-90 or DV-SB would be preferred. Do any of you have a source, or have one you want to sell? - Is there any other fold-down mount out there that I'm not finding? Thanks, Jeremy
