  1. You make some valid points I never thought about. Your right once the wheels were dipped without bushings you wouldn't be able to get the new ones in. Would be the same if they powder coated something and filled up all your bolt holes.
  2. If I understand this correctly you sent them a set of core wheels and they send you a set of finished wheels (not your cores ) back. If that's true they should have prepped the wheels before chroming and removed things like valve stems and rubber bushings.
  3. Glad you had a good ride hope to see some more pics of your brothers bike looks interesting.
  4. :sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that:
  5. So what brand will you be selling ? If it's HD they going to let you ride your yammy to work ?
  6. Not to replace the wings but to hopefully prevent there breaking the mount. First I removed the OEM rubber bumpers ( already had lost one ). At Lowe's on the hardware isle where all the blue drawers are there should be a drawer with and assortment of rubber stoppers ( blk round wedge shape ) in various sizes. Like bottle stoppers anyway I picked out two of them approx size of 3/8 " on the big end and approx. 1" in length. Also in the same drawers will be stainless bolts and screws. Get a cpl of stainless pan head screws I think #10 x 1/4". Make a small pilot hole with a drill bit in the big end of the rubber stopper. Slightly smaller than the screws you purchased. Remove the wings from the brackets and attach your rubber stoppers through the hole left by the OEM bumpers with the stainless screws. Reattach everything to bike and trim your new bumpers to fit without placing stress on the mounts. I had to remove approx. 1/4" to 3/8" from mine from the small end so that they just touched the fork tubes. I don't have the spacer on my light bar but if you do you should have enough rubber to support them and probably wont have to trim much if any. I can post pics later if anyone needs them but I would have to go take everything back apart. I did this awhile back before I learned the value of taking pics of everything you do on these bikes so you can pass it along. Hope this helps
  7. That would be even more appropriate on a Hardley
  8. Yamahasportsplaza has them http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/ $ 57.71
  9. Seems like I read where the Vstar has had problems with the splines stripping on the drive shaft.
  10. So is that what they mean by a fly in the ointment.
  11. Yep I got the flies too Better than crabs I guess :rotf:there is always a bright side to everything. On this thread there only circling on Jeff's post
  12. This Thread Is Worthless Without Tunes Nice job JB hope momma is happy cuz we know what it means if they aint.
  13. I know what your talking about on the black when I bought mine I rub and polished till I was sick of it trying to remove that film and spider webs. Finally I used Maguires scratch X with a harbor freight 6'' polisher after repeated coats I finally got that deep shine I wanted without the swirls and spider webs that shows up on black so well. Follow that with any wax you want. I tried pledge but didn't like it for me Plexus works so much better it seems expensive but I can clean my hole bike numerous times on one can between washes. I would also recommend some microsoft towels or whatever there called. A black terry cloth towel works good for drying a black bike without showing the lint.
  14. Did you scroll down there is one with two pockets but kinda pricey IMHO also a few others. Reading the reviews from other customers it fits the venture.
  15. Looks like you did a good job. Adding the stock heat shield over the clamps makes them look stock. I added mine before I found this site and figured out mine had the cats sounded better than stock but not what I was wanting any way there gone now but had to do a little modification to the left side with a die grinder to get it off.
  16. Hope you put some never seize on the header pipe before you slipped them on. Don't ask me how I know this. and to the site.
  17. Glad your back to riding nice bike and Welcome
  18. Thanks I pretty much figured that was it now to find a carbtune.
  19. Installed some new to me mufflers yesterday and when I rev it pretty hard it will blow a flame out the right pipe. Carbs were synced at SETXMD but I had a set of RK pipes on it with the cats I'm guessing the free flowing mufflers must have changed things. Also noticed a lil popping on deceleration nothing loud like a back fire. Pipes installed were Klock Works with the baffle's installed any thoughts.
  20. Glad everyone's OK I guess since your retired you will have plenty of time for yard work . What a mess
  21. Thanks Guys from us both was great having breakfast with ya'll again wish we could do it every Sat. morning. We wound up back in Little Rock went down to River Market picked up a few things then headed back towards Texarkana had a nice dinner at the Texas Roadhouse then a little more shopping before heading to the house. Just to blasted hot to enjoy doing very much.
  22. There as been some nice jobs done on adding the Harley trunk to RSTD's on here. But yours by far has raised the bar. The paint and other details really make it look like it belonged there from the factory. The Yammy badged on the back was a great touch.
  23. Congratulations on the new ride. You going to put a hitch on it for your trailer.
  24. I have to confess I just passed along the popcorn from Radian but thought some Koolaid would go good with it and I couldn't get the coke bottle in the envelope.
