  1. I wonder how much Sea Foam has been wasted trying to fix this issue :rotf:
  2. Looks nice Buddy now get you some chrome caps to cover those ugly bolts
  3. They have had plants in china for years. There was a recent buyout or attempt to sale to a unknown India company last year I believe. That company name may be out now not sure. As far as I know the deal fell threw at least with the Texarkana plant. I worked there from 1982 till 1994 and used there tires because of employee pricing. Never had very good service out of them and haven't bought them since. Be aware though Cooper Tire produces the same tire under several different brand names so just because it doesn't say Cooper doesn't mean they didn't produce it. The Texarkana AR plant and the Findley OH plants are the only union plants left the Tupelo MS plant workers rejected the unions several times years ago. Cooper has been trying to break the union here in Texarkana for years and I feel this deal with a India co. was just another ploy. Before that it was scheduled to be closed but tax benefits and the employees giving up benefits saved it. Glad I got out when I did.
  4. That adapter is not compatible with LED lights Definitely get the wiring harness
  5. So I guess there was no need in printing a speed to gear ratio for downshifting in the owners manual. With all due respect Pete telling someone to rely on there brakes and not engine braking coming down Pikes Peak is advice that will get someone hurt or killed even with cool off stops. The grade is to steep and to long let alone all of the other uncontrollable variables. Other traffic to include cars , motorcycles, and bicycles. Limited pull offs for that just right time when your brakes are fading and you need to stop. A possible patch of ice or snow you need to slow down for but can't because your brakes have faded and you can't find that 15 min cool off spot. This is real life man not a drawing board.

    Brake lock up

Talk to Skydoc about a set of EBC kevlar pads. I switched to them and loved them and very simple to do. Dramatically reduces the tendency of the rear brake to lock up on the 2nd gen. But don't take my word for give Earl a call and talk to him great guy.
  7. Just FYI the right pivot bolt on the swing arm is only 5.1 ft lbs not 51 ft lbs. A set of t handle metric allen wrenches ball end if you can afford the good ones and not the ones with the extra wrench in the side of the handle to scratch paint.
  8. Kerrville Tx is great central location. We did that last spring not nearly as congested as say Fredricksburg. About anyway you want to go from Kerrville is a good ride for day trips.
  9. Not sure on front header pipe but removing from rear header pipes to to the Y and back is no problem. Check the Y for pin holes around the weld joints.
  10. Our favorite Shambala Three Dog Night
  11. Congratulations on the new ride Barry. Hope you didn't buy it from our friend usedcyclesales.:rotf::rotf::whistling::whistling:

    VR Map

Is the Venture riders map gone ? Last I knew there were problems but I can't find now
  13. Never had a problem with it flooding carbs and never turned the petcock off.
  14. Just posted my lift adapter and carbtune in 2nd gen parts classifieds if interested take a look. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4986&title=carbon-one-lift-adapter&cat=7 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4987&title=carbtune2c-tach2c-colortune&cat=7
  15. That was a friends RSV Yammer was on the wing. I use to drool every time I saw that blue/blk RSV but not anymore LOL. Now Red is my new favorite color.
  16. Don't remember price but I always got my rear pads from skydoc17 and ask for the ones with less pucker factor. There kevlar and greatly reduce the tendency for the rear wheel to lock up under hard braking. I know I have tested them They usually lasted through two rear tires if you keep them rotated.
  17. It's the first modern thing to come on a Venture since 1999. Don't have one but what it does is it allows you to hook your I pod and play music through the bikes audio. It' standard equipment since 2012 I think may be just the 2013. Should be able to switch audio to aux and use it and control it through audio control on handle bars.
  18. Was that a new episode or is that the Indian they sold at Sturgis. The one they sold at Sturgis was at Daytona I got to take it for a demo ride.:rotf:But it was pretty cool looking:whistling:
  19. Jack it up to where the rear tire is still touching the floor but not supporting any weight and remove the bolts. You won't be able to pull the bolts as long as there is weight there. You might also jack it up far enough to lay a 2x4 under it with a block to make a lever then let the tire touch the 2x4 lay down beside the bike and use your leg on your lever to move the wheel up and down enough to get the bolts out. Then reinstall shorter links in reverse process using your jack and lever to realign one hole.
  20. Great Read Buddy I know it's late but I know what you mean about feeling out of place in the Miata. http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=83677&stc=1&d=1398215405
  21. I hear ya Buddy I think I will leave well enough alone at least till the warranty is out. But if a person is so inclined looks like alot of performance mods for these things. I guess I missed something haven't been on much lately so are you back on two wheels?
  22. is there a Harley corner? (I think that will come first) A corner for harleys are you kidding you know that harley mentality they had to have there own site.:rotf: Another plus for the CCT is the tire sizes match the Gold Wing so that should give a person a lot more options and availability.
  23. So what all have you done and what about the warranty ? You know we have explored all of the mods to a 2nd gen to death and Dingy is reinventing the 1st gen so let er rip. Hey if it's " Three Bag Ugly " it might as well be fast The boss just might have to give us our own corner
  24. Gregory Polaris in Jacksonville, AR They have one just like it at Greeson Victory in Hot Springs
  25. The ride and handling is what sold me Rick. Never ridden a HD just sat on a few at dealers and friends love the looks but always felt cramped up but I'm 6' 3'' so go figure. The CCT has the most room for me so much so that I doubt that I will be installing any foot pegs. As far as the heat the vents on lowers and fairing offer a lot of options for managing the heat. The short rides in Daytona were not long enough to really get to play with it much. I also added the stage 1 pipes, filter, and remapping and to me it took out a lot sluggishness at low rpm that I felt on the one at Daytona.
