  1. check your carb size..I think its a 28 mm, later bikes have 32mm this may be helpful, has the jets you have now \ https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-SYGAaTtZiuY2k5Ykxsd3kzLWs/view
  2. dont rush the recovery process...take as much time as needed.
  3. I have 2 different smart chargers. one is from sears and its 2 amp in twelve volts or 4 amps in 6 volts. With this charger in 2 amp mode, my battery boils over and drips acid. the other is from harley and it puts out 3/4 of any amp. this one does not boil the battery over.
  4. Ill give the barons kit with the relocation kit a thumbs up. install was medium and having a second person to help was useful. I went back and addedd an oring to the pivot arm to keep it aligned during install. with out the oring, my brakes were rubbing from an out of alignment brake arm.
  5. so I recieved the rack. assembled it fairly easy. hmm....the rack sits pretty close to the exhuast flow.....there goes the thought of using it for medium sized luggage. good concept...but in metro areas there are a lot of stop and goes...dont think the wife would like her clothes to smell like exhaust fumes. back to thinking of a small trailer
  6. from personal experience....... they sometimes need a warmup load.....sometimes 2 start attempts are needed...first one wakes up the battery...second one starts the bike. they do not handle overcharging well
  7. the current titled owner can request a replacement title. that current titled owner would have to transfer to subsequent owners and each transfer will likley involve a sales tax transaction to the host state at the time of transaction. eventually, the title will catch up to the current seller and once he titles it and clears the sales tax for the transaction, he can sell it to your brother. if there is a lein listed on the title now, a lein release letter will be needed.
  8. As far as tools from HF, only lesson learned for me is that the China made tools are almost one time use whereas the Taiwan made tools are just as good as craftsman, kobolt, husky, dewalt, etc.
  9. I was going to make on from scratch. then I thought of cutting done a car one. then I thought modify a large hitch step. then I said just buy one from someone whos been making them for a while, provides plate and tail light relocation and other goodies. bougth it from mchitch
  10. see chapter 5 on how to test your 25 year old cooling system. my bet would be the thermost...but go thru all the tests. My second guess would be the radiator is full of crud from 25 years of use. http://www.yamahaventure.nl/1999-Royal-Star-TF-Service-Manual.pdf
  11. yes..I have that one..works great and fits in my roll up tool bag
  12. AGM's are less tolerant to over voltage conditions than flooded batteries. you should fully test your charging system to make sure there are no leaks in the rectifier diodes.
  13. a six pin connector also provides an always hot 12v pin and an ignition position 12v pin.
  14. so on a second gen the rear of the shaft gets lubed by splashy splashy from the final drive.....what about the front splines..how do they get lubed on a second gen can i put a grease fitting on the shaft housing and just pack the whole thing with grease?
