  1. I put in Dyna Beads 9k miles ago when I put the Avon Venoms on. The wear is showing no uneveness at all and there is no wobble or bounce. I would use them again and a few friends went to them when they saw my tires.
  2. I constantly get between 45 and 50 mpg running at 60-65. At 80 it drops to around 40. I have a mid size windshield from Yammy. I usually add some seafoam every couple hundred miles or so and I run synthetic oils. I sink my carbs around 2-3 thousand miles, it's simple now got lot of practice, doesn't take long. I also have KN air filters but I don't know if that helps or not. Roy
  3. Hi all had a great time even though we got there late. Sorry I didn't get to meet everyone but the friends I had along thought you were all great, and a friendly bunch. Looking forward to making more events like that. Roy
  4. I ended up with the same problem with mine, not quite as much ware but the same amount of miles. My 06 is lowered so that shoots that theory. BUT that is poor service if you ask me. ROY:doh:
  5. ronhenry4 After my mishap my windshield was badly scratched so I started to play with it. A white led will make a blue halo around the whole windshield. Then I took my engraving tool and put my name on it, and it highlighed in blue also so I am going to try an acid etch, but I didn't find a design that I like . They are available in craft stores.
  6. There is supposed to be a man in the Poconos that does chroming and I was told that he does plastic chroming also. It would take some research to find out about. ROY
  7. I wrapped mine twice already and it blows out if you get on it hard. Just left it out. LOL Roy:think:
  8. I used Dyna beads with my last change and about 8k miles now and no cupping or anything. Feel the same as the day I changed them. Roy:thumbsup:
  9. When I rode it in late June I do not recall checking the speed gague, there was so much traffic but it all went smoothly. As far leo's we only saw one or two all week and they were on surrounding highways. We did encounter several tour buses and two logging trucks that morning. Just ride what is comfortable for you and watch your mirrors if you see a crotch rocket comming, move over they are not called donor bikes for nothing. We had several pass us that morning. Enjoy!!! Roy:bighug:
  10. nice pix , got the rails lined up with the bags also, good job. Now replace the reflectors with led's from Auto Zone or wally world for about $6 each and be seen better at night!!!! Roy
  11. :fishin:If you have a bell, maybe the Gremlins were getting lunch!!!!! Roy
  12. The last set of tires I used were Avon Venoms when I changed them I used Dyna beads in them instead of static balance. The dealer I bought them from also rides bike and he swears by them. I have about 4k on the tires now no problems. ROY:thumbsup:
  13. Got mine at Wally world about $6 each soldered long leads on and ran thru rails. I think Auto Zone has them also. I used epoxy to fasten them which I doubt if I neded, some double sided tape sounds good and can easily be removed. ROY:bang head:
  14. Craig sorry to hear about the bike, but as long as you can tell the story that's a plus. I don't know when it happened, but around 5 pm Saturday I took an unscheduled ride on my venture. Put some severe scratches on the right side, I have some black/blue spots forming and the best part my nice shiny helmet has a few gouges in it. like I said I am thankful to be able to tell the story ROY:bawling:
  15. I was down to the Dragon on 6/23/08 and I agree some of the roads around there were really neat. We spent 4 days in the area and never did the same road twice. I was looking thru the pix on line and saw 2 other Ventures there that day. Was either or both members? Roy:photographing:
  16. Hi Craig nice to hear from you, got the venture running good and always out when I can I did make it to the tail of the Dragon last month. We were gone a whole week in TN SC NC Ga and VA, had a great time. That Quaker State and Ale is on Wednesday night every week, with an all you can eat bufeit for 11.99. they count the bikes that come in they had over 8 hundred the other week. It is at the Buckhorh exit on I 80 in the Columbia mall across from the truck stop. Later Roy:whistling:
  17. Last Wednesday 7/16/08 a bunch of us went to Quaker Steak and Ale bike night in Bloomsburg PA. I saw 3 other 2nd gen Ventures besides mine, but no one around them. Was any of these three members here? This was only 50 miles from my location but I don't know of any members around me. I did get to meet with Craig and his wife earlier in the summer. I would like to get a meet and eat going in north east Pa. I ride with a group that likes to ride and EAT, we usually go out to eat once a week. I ride the only Venture but everyone else rides Yamahas, sometime we pick up a stragler on a Harley. Any one else that would like to join in let me know, I will do my best to get a bunch together. ROY:thumbsup2:
  18. I bought my 06 lowered front and rear with a Corbin seat on it. I felt comfortable on it from new, but after putting Venoms on it 3k miles ago what a difference!! Was down to the tail of the dragon in June and really enjoyed it. O yeah I only stand 5'3" with a 26" inseam. Enjoy. ROY:cool10:
  19. I had terrible noise when leaning into turns, got rid of the Dunflops and added Venoms no noise at all now. ROY:bighug:
  20. In PA we have many instant tag services open 7 days a week they can do everything for you. You will not get a PA title in your name for about a month, or have the seller get the info for you before going up. Good luck. ROY:doh:
  21. Kantornado why the passport? I haven't flown in a long time, is this required now? Thanks Roy:doh:
  22. When do you plan on doing this ride, what will be your free time? only 2 hours from Penn State , maybe we could hook up. ROY:dancefool:
  23. I removed a set of Dunflops and installed a set of Venoms in June and couldn't believe the ride. The following week we went to the Tail of The Dragon,WOOOOW what performance from them. I replaced with stock sizes cause I am lowered front and rear. On the highway they are much quieter. Roy
  24. Returned from the Dragon the end of June spent a week in the area. We just winged it and never found a bad place or unfriendly people anywhere. All the hotels and motels are biker friendly and very reasonable in my opinion. We got maps from some of the motels and that is what we planed our rides with. Just be careful and take your time there is sooo much tosee and do in that area. Roy
  25. Good luck with the new one. My 06 took some getting used to, I only have about 2500 miles on my Avons now but they are a world of difference over the stock Dunflops. Two weks ago I was in NC and rode the Dragon and a lot of other roads Blue ridge Pky, Skyline Dr, Cherahola Pky I got nothing but performance out of the trip.
