  1. My 84 is getting harder to start. I thought it was the cold, then the hi-test gas. I run regular in it in the cold months for it's lower flash point. Now regardless of the temp or gas it takes a while to get it started. I think the ignition module (original so far as I know) is on it's way to the trash can. Opinions please!
  2. What do you think ? will ammo be harder to find.
  3. It was starting harder and harder as it got colder and colder now will not start at all. Had it almost started then would not even try to start any ideas.
  4. My 2008 Venture does not have that many miles on it but I have had clutch (engine) flair a couple of times now. Riding today confirmed it. When I first got this bike I spent a huge amount of time in parking lots making low speed turns etc. etc. Which means I did an inordinate amount of clutch slipping. I have installed the lower geared V-Max rear end. Which while that doesn't hurt the clutch in itself did change the way I ride. That might, just might mind you be a little harder on the clutch. I know it is harder on my breathing. I have also had the bike run on the dyno a couple of times. So I am not surprised I am getting a little slip (flair) here and there. Since I am planning a trip later this year I think clutch changing time has slipped up on me. So what do I need? It the Skydoc mod the best way to go? any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks Mike
  5. Im considering going with a motor club, one that will also cover the bike. Right now im leaning on going with the GWRRA because their roadside assistance also covers cars as well. What im looking for is opinions from members here who use any of the different motor clubs that are out there, your experiences with them, pros and cons, etc. Im realizing that as I get older im having a much harder time doing some of the basic stuff like changing a flat tire, especially since I ant kneel anymore. So, tell me your thoughts on the clubs.....
  6. I would ask two questions up front before I took a job. #1- Have you ever worked on your bike? #2- How much can you bench press? I just replaced my front tire and the bolts holding the calipers were so tight that three only have part of the threads left and one is there(maybe) forever. I had to fish the rotor into the pads on one side and thats harder than it sounds. The crazy part about it is they only have to hold themselves in. Zero pressure on the bolts. I'm open for suggestions on how to get it out without breaking off the ear. It is soaking in penetrating oil but I don't give it much hope. Thanks Richard
  7. I thought I would start this thread to see what my fellow riders do to stay in shape for riding. It seems as I am getting older I am finding certain aspects of riding becoming harder on me and the need to get back and stay in shape becomes more apparent to me everytime I ride.
  8. As "Brown Sugar and I were playing with some twisties today I was paying attention to the shifting. This has been going on for a while but is getting harder and harder. Holding a rule against the end of the ball on the handle it has more than 1&1/2 inches of play before you start to feel pressure when you squeeze it. Time for the push rod and bushing?? I bled it out last fall. All new fluid. Hope its not the slace cylinder.
  9. Saw these on Flea-Bay and its spring tune-up time. I'm replacing the whole wire this year. They have them on Flea-Bay too only about 15 bucks more but a little harder to install. Warden with her little hands comes in handy sometimes. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VENTURE-XVZ1200-XJ550-FZ700-NGK-Spark-Plug-Cap-Set-/180647432080?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a0f6d0f90
  10. I started this project for my son. I drug the ski back from knoxville to work on over the winter. Let me tell you, working on this piece of crap is much harder than working on the venture. I'll think about that next time before I volunteer to fix this money pit again!!
  11. Hey Boss, Is there a way to download the VentureRider calendar, i.e., ical? If there is, I can't find it. If not, don't want you to work harder than you already do. Thanks.
  12. I want to rmove the CD player from the saddle bag temporarly. Can I not unplug the cord from the player itself? It feels like I'm going to break something if I pull any harder.
  13. I want to thank my secret admirers so far...Danob 11.... so far ,yours are my favorite.. crotchless is the best...freedom of movement you know......lol...Rawhide your running a close second.. I love the feeling of lace ...lol.. I am compiling a list ....post marks dont lie.. I guess I shouldnt have said that..now its gonna get harder...Taters is trying to play along.. but I see right thru her.. She knows me to well..I would never do anything to hurt her....You guys did this to Freebird last year remember...I didnt...but, I'm glad you all have accepted me as a friend...:rotf::rotf:
  14. I hope this works it seems harder than doinf the rails themselves.
  15. Hop this works, seems like it is harder to do than the job was.
  16. To anyone who may have friends and/or family attending Northern Illinois University, I pray that everything is alright. My sister goes to school there, and had just left campus to head home before the whole event happened. One of her friends was wounded, but the last we heard was considered in stable condition. She's worried though, because he was airlifted out, and the news has said that at least two students that were airlifted have since passed away. It's tough to see things like this on television, but it's really hard when things hit this close to home. Every time I read more news about it, or someone here at work asks me about my sister, it gets harder and harder for me to talk about without myself getting a little choked up, even knowing she's fine. Thoughts and prayers to anyone affected by the event.
  17. Is there any way to reduce the force required to pull in the clutch lever? It just seems harder than it should. RR
  18. Hi Guys, Speaking to a friend of mine who has an 05 Venture. He tells me that the engine in the Ventures can take alot. He suggests pushing it a bit harder and that you won't hurt the bike. I have an 07 Venture with about 5000 km on it. I don;t want to hurt my baby, but would like to rev it up a bit more.......is it ok to push it thru the gears harder? Thanks
