Put dielectric (spelling?)grease on plug in,if that does not help it is a problem with the plug or radio and warranty. The Aux DC should be under warranty unless you broke it,if they give any trouble(Yamaha dealer) Call Yamaha Corp. I had to on another issue and believe me they WILL do something if you call every hour for however long it takes. Tom

Tom replied to V7Goose's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Goose may have to come up that way and buy you alot of beer and see if I can talk you into doin mine sometime..or come to the hill country and free place to stay and all dinners on me! My mileage has dropped and I do not think I am good enough to do te floats myself..It may be I have been a little harder on the throttle lately. Tom -
How to fill radiator???
Tom replied to spyderhead's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The Radiator cap is under the tank right hand side, however I think on the tour deluxe you can access the overflow bottle under the riders seat. Tom -
I bought a brand new Yamaha 12.5 inch shorter windshield I LOVED IT...My wife HATED it..I got to keep it on 2 weeks and then put the Clearview on and she is happy now! ( I have the short one for sale in classifieds on here)

On the Windshield issuethe stock is a pain in the rear when it rains..CANNOT use RainX on stock windshieldIt will ruin it!! I know..However if youread the thread on my new Clearview windshield it gives alot of opinions and info..As far as issues the gear whine is a normal thing, some louder than others but in my experience all bikes have some kind of quirk. I have done this ride MANY times,I think what you are looking for is on the Oregon coast..Just get on 101 and head North in oregon and there ar MANY MANY places as you describe.Ride all the way to Portland and you will never forget it. Also,if you are coming from Southern California get on Hwy 1 cross Golden Gate bridge and stay on that highway as much as possible..BREATHTAKING.. I have numerous pictures but they do not tell the real story! Also visit Paul Bunyuns place..I dont know the real name nut you will see Babe the Blue Ox in Northern California. I will be in Colorado on 8/24/08 at the KOA in Ouray,Colorado if you pass thru there that week.. Tom

I just bought some boots that had real thick soles on them and even though I can sit on it and barely flatfoot it it gave me way more than enough length to sit and flatfoot the ground.

I have the XXtall and see thru it.I cannot honestly say if it will hit you in the face,my thinking is that it will not as my airflow is about 8 inches or more over he top of mine. Now the other day I went around 700 mile round trip and 1/2 of it was in the rain..BAD RAIN and I used Rainx on the shield inside and out and water just beaded and blew off. Now the little defrost type vents on the vent inside really helped blow off the rain from the inside of the shield..I Love that feature! I also when raining use a faceshield as I wear glasses and I dont care what you use drops will get on your glasses so I flip the shield down and ride!

I had mine go out a month or so ago and Yamaha had them on backorder and could not tell me when they would b released..Long story short, after raising pure HE&& They agreed to pay $338.95,their cost towards a New works Performance shock. I now hav it on and glad I did it,no more worry about the rear shock failing. Good Luck,Tom

May have been more than you could chew but the memories will last a lifetime! As far as the oil out the tube, you need to keep the level just under halfway or it will come out that tube. Be Safe,Tom

There is no flexing at all..I kept wondering what the 2 little pieces of rubber they send were for and I figured it out..they go at the bottom corners where it is appx 2 inches wider on each side to give it a more finished look. After you install the shield just slide the rubber pieces on.Any questions feel free to call me ,my number is in the profile. Tom

I have the torflex axle on my trailer and I really have to watch it as I never know it is back there. Tom

Gibvel,The whine or chirp is really still the same on mine..I am so used to it I have to think about it to hear it though..Also someone asked earlier about RainX and at that time I had not used it but I just got back from a 700 mile ride and got caught in severe storms..The RainX was so WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also that little defrost vents on the inside really did push the water off the inside of the windshield (I RainXed the inside also)..It was so nice to ride in the rain and actually see good! Tom

OK Don..I am gonna hold you to that..I am saving this thread...But I am gonna win the new one that way I will have it for a Sunday Drive trailer! Tom I hope the ticket sales are holding up...let us know Reiny as I may have to buy more even though I have an unfair advantage at the moment.

I like my Kromewerks deeper sound not too loud but some want sewing machine quiet..These rumble about like the Bubs do. Can also buy different tips,I chose the turn downs see pic below. Tom

I have been using Amsoil 10/50 for motorcycles in mine since about 6000 miles,no problems at all.I really do not know if it quietens the slight whine or not but it is so slight it doesnt bother me. Some say that changing to synthetic makes the engine have a little tappet noise at first start up but mine does that with regular oil also,Yamaha says they all do it and the few ive been around on first strt in the AM has a slight tapping noise. Tom ( I use the heavier oil because of our very hot temps down here)

I have not used the rainx yet but I stressed to them that if I use it and it ruins my windshield will they replace..YES,but nothing will happen to hurt the shield. I do not know what it is made of as far as actual material,Acrylic Plastic????

I thought I would like a shorter windshield when riding by myself but I bought a New one that is wider at the bottom from Yamaha and I didnt like it..Especially if wife jumped on she hated it.(Thats why I have the shorter listed now in classifieds). I am 5 10,33 inseam and I ordered the XXtall and VERY glad I did,it leans back towards the rider a little more and seems like to me it is a shade over what the stock was..I am glad I didnt get what they at Clearview call the stock size. The Vent really does work,I could not believe how much air comes thru when you open it all the way.The stock windshield was terrible when it rained,I could not see anything. At least on this one you can put Rain X on it..DONT do that on the stock..I did and It was a nightmare.
