Are you reving it? These bikes NEED to be reved high or they are gonna shake if you run it like a VTwin..Usually i do not shift to 5th till about 65 or so..If I am in a hurry sometimes im notr out of third till 70 or so,have been to about 90 in 3rd.Try That,I think it will solve the problem.

be aware that its not just recaps that let go....Ive had many New tires let go and I pray no one is ever close to me when it does. From exprience as a driver you never know when thy will blow..Also you can feel the explosion in the cab when they blow even if its in the very back on a trailer. Had a friend stop to check his tires once and just as he passed the right rear set of duals it exploded and broke his arm...This was as he was stopped!. Be Careful Guys. Tom

Harley touring versus venture
Tom replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I trust your evaluation seeing you have both! I have met quite a few that do not REV the RSV to full potential,if they do that it is no contest..Granted these are touring bikes but they do run if you put the juice to it... -
Harley touring versus venture
Tom replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Theirs more power and torgue to the rear wheel then the Venture??? Id have to disagree on that..If I am not mistaken the Harley has 68 Stock HPat Crank..Venture 98Hp at crank,on Dyno mine has 79 at rear wheel. Ive run ALOT of Harleys as alot of my friends ride them..1st and 2nd they are with me,maybe jump me on 1st and low 2nd,but after you hit 3rd on the Venture it is all over with for the Harley.Granted the torque on the Harley is AWESOME at 92Ft Lbs. Now this is not to criticize the Harley AT ALL as the New ones are GREAT bikes,Just a fair comparison as far as speed one versus the other. As far as power,I test rode one,2008 for half a day here in the Hill Country and normal places I usually ride I did alot more downshifting on the Harley. When I got back to Gruens HD I asked if this was normal and theSaleman told me that I was not going to get the POWER out of it as I do with the RSV,the service manager that was checking the bike back in said the same thing,BUT if I put a ,(I think he said Stage 1 Kit on it) it would do a lot better. Again,NOT RUNNING DOWN A HARLEY,just stating my experience..after all I dont care what anyone rides,at our ages its just great we are riding! (Some of our ages) -
are you keeping the engine reved high? Alot of newcomers to the RSV try riding it like a Vtwin and these bikes need high RPM. If thats not the problem carb sync may be needed,my experience is most dealers do not have a clue on how to do this correctly.

Don,I know its been rough for you guys.I delivered water and other supplies the day after it hit the Houston area and People just dont know.It blows my mind how everyone down there seemed to start pitching in and cleaning up.I only had one lady complaining that the government wasnt helping enough but we talked and I told her I had been all thru Houston,Port Arthur,Beaumnont and I was amazed at how fast the workers were getting organized and the massive size of the area was remarkable.I know where She was coming from though at that time it seemed all was hopeless, but as usual You all through helping each other, are coming through it! Proud for you guys! When you find the time,I have 3 Extra Bedrooms and your own baths so break away and come down and we will meet up with a few guys and ride some around here. Tom

Yep they make one,Call Rick at Buckeye performance http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/ It was $625.00 at the time I replaced mine but Yamaha paid $339.75 on it due to not having them in stock and I raised a little cane over them not knowing when they would have them as they were on backorder. Tom

Venture or Tour Deluxe?
Tom replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have a friend who bought a RSTD..He spent lots of$$on accessories but never got it like he wanted it,then he traded for a Roadliner, spent lots of $$ on accessories but still says hes not satisfied. He rode my Venture again and he now knows what he was missing,AM/FM CB,Very little wind hitting him,and now my Zumo,it is so great now that I have it integrated into my headset. He is now going to bite the bullet and get what HE says he should have gotten in the first place. His wife is very happy he has taken this route.Bottom line is think of ALL the pros and cons and buy what you like.Tom -
How many of you are running the Edsets and in your opinion are they worth the extra money say over the J&M? I have the chatterbox now and have never really liked them and also they do not have good volume. Tom

Yes..If you overfill it you will notice an oil leak under the bike..I like to put in 3 qts let it drain into pan good then have a look and add as needed. On mine if I do not have the level a little below middle of site glass it will start the leak. Tom

This to me is simple to answer..I ride my bike to work,Drive an 18 wheeler and out a week at a time so I have to carry A Large electric cooler,Large suitcase,Rubber boots, groceries,Rainsuit,Big metal Clipboard,briefcase..Quite a few other things that there is no way to fit on a bike so my trailer is VERY convenient. Also When I do go on a trip it It is just handy and the most important thing is...I Like It!
